"Connor!" Cynthia scolded her oldest child has she dragged him down the stairs. "I swear to God if you don't cooperate..."
"Jesus Christ why does it matter? I'm already grounded for eternity anyway," Connor sneered, trying as hard as he could to not give into his mother's brute strength. "You might as well burry me in the fucking backyard after I kill my self later."
"You will watch you're tone with me, young man," Cynthia pulled him to the entrance to Larry's home office in the basement, where an ancient looking computer stood proudly and at the ready.
Connor rubbed the spot on his arm where his mother's stone hard grip left a mark. "Holy shit, who knew Pilates gave you that much hand strength? Maybe I'll try it someday. Oh wait, I can't because I'm fucking grounded."
The exasperated mother sighed, her nostrils flaring. "You will sit here and you will engage in the Pen Pal program I sighed you up with until I call you for dinner. If you get up at all, you will be punished."
Connor plopped himself in the office chair and spun in it a few times before he turned back to his mother. "Fuck you."
"The session starts in 5 minutes, the boy's name is Evan, and he lives in Northern California. Be nice," Cynthia have him a warm smile before closing the office door. Connor heard the key turn, indicating she locked it.
Well, fuck. Now he had no weed, no way out, and no way to kill himself.
With nothing else to do, Connor decided to shake the mouse and wake up the computer. He had to admit he was slightly curious to see what his mother had planned for him that afternoon.
To his surprise, he found a not cliche-looking website, and after some exploring, found his account, and discovered someone had messaged him:
Treez: Hi, sorry if I'm bothering you but I was supposed to send this to see if you're there.
ConnorM: Hey
Connor's heart skipped a beat in anticipation as he waited for a reply.
Treez: Cool I'm Evan.
ConnorM: I'm Connor, although I think you could have guess that by my username
God, why did his mom have to give him the most generic username ever?
Treez: Cool
ConnorM: Cool
Treez: So what do we do now?
Connor sighed and hit his fist against the wood of the desk. This conversation was going nowhere. He needed to do something. Why was he so interested in this?
ConnorM: Lets exchange life stories. You can go first.
He completely regretted letting the other boy go while he waited in agony for 4 minutes and 32 seconds [not that he was counting] before Evan replied:
Treez: Well, I live in Clovis California, I have been all my life. My parents are divorced so I live with my mom. I have social anxiety so I don't have many friends, and that's why I signed up for this. Because I want a friend.
Treez: What about you?
The boy twisted around in the chair as he thought up a reply.
ConnorM: I live in the northern part of New York, we moved from Texas when I was young. I live with my parents and my younger sister, who's irrelevant. Anyways, I got myself into drugs and weed which apparently bad or something but I can't care less. My mom signed me up for this behind my back so...fuck her
Connor could feel the tension and he could tell that across the country, Evan was rethinking his choice of starting this conversation, which made Connor doubt himself as well.
ConnorM: Sorry if I came off aggressive, I'm not in a great mood
Treez: I'm sorry. You don't have to do this if you don't want to it's fine I can just find someone else...
ConnorM: No I didn't mean it like that, you seem nice
Treez: Oh okay cool
ConnorM: Cool

As the months went by, Connor and Evan's relationship grew stronger each message they sent. Connor felt himself growing feelings for the Californian boy that we're more than just friendly affection. The first thing he did when he woke up was make the commute from his room to the basement to check the website, and all he could think about everyday was that kid all the way across the country that loved trees more than anything and was the sweetest person Connor ever met. It was like an addiction, stronger than weed or drugs.
He yearned to see the boy.
Which is why, one day, he decided to spontaneously pack up a backpack, take a wad of cash, and drive across the country. It was a long, and fairly boring drive, since he couldn't check the website [his phone had been taken away ages ago and never give back], but it also gave him a sense of excitement. Even though the most exciting part was stopping at gas stations for gas and the occasional meal, it was still a lot better then being cooped up at home or at a shitty yoga retreat.
He couldn't wait to see Evan. Of course, they had exchanged what they looked like, and although Connor knew he had blonde hair and brown eyes, he couldn't completely picture him. The website didn't let them exchange pictures either, which just added to the suspense.
Finally, after what seemed like years of driving, Connor drove past a sign that read Welcome to Clovis, CA and he felt his heart begin to beat faster. Not just because he'd made it, but also because after the town name, he'd never asked where the boy lived.
It was a matter of trial and error. Thank god the town was small or else he would have been there for forever.
But even though the town wasn't that highly populated, it was still like searching for a needle in a haystack. And after an hour or so of searching, Connor came to the dead end of a street, where a plain house with white siding sat comfortably. Or it would have been a plain house if not for the intricate and quite beautiful landscaping job on the front yard.
And Connor knew, deep down in his almost nonexistent soul, this was the house.
He tried to shut his car door as quietly as possible, but of course when you're trying to be quiet, even the softest noises seem like a earsplitting gunshot. He began the walk up their driveway, where a silver Prius sat, and Connor could only hope that meant the boy was home.
He stopped at the front door, only hesitating for a split second before he pushed his finger at the doorbell.
The door opened to reveal the most beautiful boy Connor had ever seen.
"I don't know who you are," the boy stuttered, shrinking back at Connor's intimidating appearance. "But I'm not going to give you any money for anything or..."
"Are you Evan?" Connor spat out.
The boy froze. "...Yes."
"I'm Connor. From New York," Connor laughed as he watched Evan out the pieces together, and before he knew it, their lips were connected in a blissful kiss.
I feel like, slowly but surely, my writing is getting better.
Okay so I found this while searching for DEH gifs [because I'm running out] and I low key want to know who you think I'm like. It doesn't have to be from DEH specifically, it can be from any fandom.
Spider-Man Part II comes out next week :)
