Boyf Riends- Level One

Loosely based on Ready Player One and Jumanji. Also, this one is pretty low key and nice, but uh... part 2 and 3...

"Michael, I never thought I'd say it, but here but here it goes; I'm sick of Apocalypse Of The Damned."

Michael fake gasped. "Really? It's not like we beat all of the levels 3 times already." He sat back in his bean bag chair. "Well uh, what do you want to do?"

"Uh... I... well, maybe we could..." Jeremy sighed. "I have no idea."

Michael's doorbell rang. Both boys looked at each other before racing each other down the stairs. Jeremy reached the door first, and swung it open.

No one was there. Jeremy stepped out, only to be stopped by Michael. "Jere, watch where you're stepping! You almost crushed this!"

Michael reached down to revealed a box. In big letters, it read: To be Shipped to Jeremy Heere and Michael Mell. Good luck.

Michael looked at his boyfriend before closing the door and putting the box gently on the counter.

"S-should... should we open it?" Jeremy questioned.

Without hesitation, Michael said, "Hell yeah!" And ripped open the brown box, Pulling out several things.

Two Virtual Reality headsets, two pairs of gloves, and a video game cd case.

Michael grabbed one of the headsets. "Woah dude, this is so cool!"

"Uh, hate to burst your bubble, but aren't you... I don't know... concerned about the fact that whoever sent us this knows our names and stuff? And what about the 'Good Luck' part? Doesn't that concern you? Like, even a little bit?"

Michael looked up, concern etched onto his face. It quickly was wiped away when he started laughing. "Whatever, nothing's gonna happen. It's just a video game, babe!"

Jeremy sighed. "Okay, what's the game?"

Michael turned the case around before answering. "It... it doesn't have a name. Just a description. Want me to read it out loud?"

Jeremy nodded.

"You said you were bored so here I am
A 2 player game; not Ap. Of the damn.
With this game, you soon will see,
It's not easy as you may hope it to be.

You have three lives,
After which you may revive.
Be sure to stay by each other's side
And I will be sure to provide."

"Provide? Provide what?"

"I have no idea, but there's more, so shush." Michael cleared his throat and began again.

"Level One starts easy,
Level Two's a little queasy,
And level Three is the final part
(make sure you have one full heart)

The final beast may be slaughtered
Only if your love isn't altered."

Michael looked up at Jeremy with awe. "This game sounds awesome!"

"I... I still don't know Mikey... it looks like a horror game..."

"Come on Jeremy! It looks like fun! And don't worry, I'll protect my damsel in distress." Michael winked.

Jeremy lightly shoved his boyfriend before grabbing the headsets and gloves. "Grab the game and get us set up!"

Michael inserted the disc, and plugged in the headset and gloves. Jeremy did the same, emerging himself in total darkness.

                 "Welcome, boys."

Jeremy stood up looked around. It looked like he was in Michael house, in the top floor. But... it was weird. It was... dark. Way too dark. He could barely see a few feet in front of him.

"Michael? Where are you?"

"Boo!" Jeremy screamed as Michael laughed. "Mikey, that's not funny!"

"It's a little funny."

"No it's- hey, what happened to your hoodie?"

Michael looked down, only to see all of his patches were gone. "Huh. That's weird. Must be a glitch in the game."

"Hey, Mikey?" Jeremy paused. "Um... is it just me, or does this look like your house?"

Michael looked around. "Nope, I don't see it." Jeremy sighed, giving up. "Well, what should we do first?" Michael asked.

"Uh... look around? Maybe there will be something in one of these rooms to help us!" Michael nodded, and headed to a room on the left. Jeremy took the door at the end of the hall.

Jeremy stepped into a room that looked very similar to his bedroom. Laying on the bed, was Michael. Michael was just wearing his hoodie, and it was barely long enough to cover him. "M-Michael? How'd you get... I saw you just?" He sighed. "Come on babe, video games aren't a laughing matter." He said cockily, trying to hide his blushing face.

"Oh, I'm not laughing. Come here, I just want to hang with you..." Michael edged closer to Jeremy. Jeremy gulped and started to back away.

"Jeremy! The rooms down here are clear, but I found these!" Jeremy turned around to see another Michael standing with two flashlights. He tossed one to Jeremy and walked out. Jeremy turned towards the bed, but 'Michael' was gone.

What kind of video game was this?

The boys searched every room, even trying to go downstairs, but sadly, it was blocked.

"Well, there's just one last door, Heere. Do you want to open it?"

"Hell no! Are you crazy?"

Michael chuckled before opening the door, ready to fight. But to both of their surprises, it was a room filled with retro games.

"Woah." Jeremy passed Michael and turned off his flashlight. "This is beautiful."

"Welcome to your final task of level one. Your mission, is to beat the Pac-Man high score. Good luck."

The boys turned towards the game, and were shocked by the number.

"Wait, seriously? That's it? We just have to get to 50 points? Pfft, I can do that in my sleep!" Michael rolled up his sleeves, and got to 50 points in less than a minute.

"That was super easy!"

"Yeah... too easy if you ask me."

"Level One:Complete.
Level Two:Unlocked.
Patch:Received."

"Patch?" Jeremy looked over to Michael, but his question was now answered. Michael's once blank hoodie now had a Pac-Man logo on the front.

"Isn't that weird? How the patch just, kinda got there? And where's the voice coming from?" Jeremy asked.

"Our headsets! Duh. Where else would it come from?"

"Yeah, yeah of course. Well, let's go see where level two is."

The boys left the arcade room, and entered the main hallway once more.

"Want to try the staircase again?" Jeremy asked.

Michael nodded, and walked towards it. Then he stepped down one step. And another. And another.

"It's all clear! Follow me!"

Jeremy and Michael reached the middle of the staircase when the voice came back on.

"Level Two: Activated. You have been provided with the tools necessary to complete your task. Good luck."

Jeremy looked down at his hands, which were now clutching a gun. He looked over at his boyfriend, who was holding a very similar looking weapon.

"Why do we need guns?" Jeremy asked.
