"Perfect shot, kiddo. Just remember to ask permission next time."

"Thanks, Coach." I said as I changed to my clothes before heading to my car. Camila already left with Cameron around 5. I sighed at the thought I'd be staying home alone tonight. I still couldn't believe Camila was supposed to take me to the party. All this time I thought she was going with Cam. But, well, she did.

"Hey, Shawn?"

I turned around to see a smiling figure. "Hey. Aren't you suppose to be at your party?"

Hailee shrugged, "Well, I had detention...", she said blushing slightly, "for being late to Mr. Jack's class. You know how he is."

I smiled. "Yeah..need a ride? It's past six." She seemed shocked by the offer. "Sure. Well, aren't you supposed to be at my party already? Cam told me you were going with Camila." My face dropped and my smile vanished. "Oh...well," I said scratching the back of my neck, "Coach made me do overtime today. I missed practice yesterday for the competition."

"Oh. You were supposed to be Camila's date?"

I blushed before quickly denying it. "No! She just sorta forced me to go with her. I'm her best friend and all.", I chuckled nervously.

"Oh," she laughed. "well, why don't you be my date?"

I smirked, "Isn't Joe yours?"

"He's my second cousin, doofus.", she punched my arm lightly.

"I am not a doofus." I cocked my head towards her after totally ignoring how she hurt my man pride. "Fine." she raised both her hands up before smirking and grinning like a weirdo. "Idiot it is."

"Hey!", I rolled my eyes as I followed her into my car.

If Camila won't be the death of me, this girl will.

---

She pointed the directions to her house and soon enough, we were greeted by a huge house blaring loud music together with drunk and half passed-out teenagers on the front lawn. Wow, the whole package. I hate alcohol and I could already smell it from inside my car. (I couldn't really but I imagined the smell.)

"Thanks for the ride, idiot." she smiled before getting out of my car.

"You're welcome, Einstein."

I ended up bursting into laughter when she gave me a 'where-the-hell-did-you-get-that-nickname' reaction. "Einstein?" she almost choked. "That's the best you got?"

I held my stomach in pain as I continued laughing. "What? Do you want to be known as Ms. Know-it-all instead?" I said, managing a smirk before heading inside.

"I'll pass." I heard her from behind.

We were greeted with teenagers holding the iconic red cups filled with what I assume to be Vodka as we entered through the main door. I didn't think Hailee would be the type to allow drugs to her parties. I slid past a few passed out people laying on the couch before heading to the kitchen to get some soda (if they had any). My eyes widened when I saw Camila and Cameron making out on the counter. I quickly turned around before Hailee pulled me to a corner. "Shawn! Just the perfect guy I was looking for." she smiled.

"What? What do you mean?", I asked confused.

"We're.." she said pulling me to the stage, "going to perform a duet."

"What?" my eyes widened. This wasn't how I pictured my evening.

She took a seat and motioned me to do the same." Joe and his band are stuck in traffic. They're still two hours away. You performed Stitches in class before, right?" I nodded but before I could say anything else or even agree to do it, she handed me a guitar before ordering, "Play the chords."

She stood up and took a mic, "Excuse me. Guys." Her voice filled the room and seemed to get everyone's attention. "This is my friend Shawn."  I smiled before giving a nod to the audience.  She looked at me and smiled before facing the crowd again. "Since Joe couldn't make it, we'll be singing an original song by my friend Shawn instead."

Hailee took a mic, "This is called Stitches." The crowd cheered and applauded as she sat back down while I began strumming the chords.

(a/n : video version and the version below are different.)

She smiled. "I thought that I've been hurt before, but no one's ever left me quite this sore."

"Your words cut deeper than a knife," I sang, surprising her, "now I need someone to breathe me back to life."

"Gotta feeling that I'm going under, but I know that I'll," she sang before I joined her on, " make it out alive."

"If I quit calling you my lover," I sang.

Then us in unison, "Move on."

I kept silent as I strummed the chords as I let myself fall into the background and let Hailee have her moment as she sang the chorus. "You watch me bleed it 'till I can't breathe, I'm shaking, falling onto my knees, and now that I'm without your kisses, I'll be needing stitches."

"Just like a moth drawn to a flame, oh you lured me in I couldn't sense the pain." My eyes flickered to a smiling face. Her arms were locked with his. She was enjoying this as everyone else seemed to be. I strummed a bit harder on the guitar as Hailee sang, "Gotta feeling that I'm going under, but I know that I'll make it out alive. If I quit calling you my lover and move on."

"You watch meeeeeh!" I positioned my head a bit farther to the mic as Hailee continued singing as the second voice, "Bleed it 'till I can't breathe I'm shaking, falling onto my knees. And now that, I'm without your kisses, I'll be needing stitches."

"And I'll be needing stitches." we sang together and I ended the song a bit short and we were greeted with applause. Hailee smiled at me joyfully before giving me a peck on the cheek. "Thanks, Shawn."

My eyes immediately glanced over to the place where I found Camila's gaze a while ago. I frowned when she wasn't there and jumped off the stage. As I made my way through, I was greeted by people telling me how good I was. I was merely saying 'thanks' to them as I slid past the crowd in a hurry.

I was about to reach the door when I felt someone pulled me back. I turned around to see a frowning Camila. "Hailee kissed you."

"What if she did?", I asked innocently.

"You guys aren't dating, are you?" she placed a hand on her hip.

"As you said, she kissed me, not the other way around. And I'm single and ready to mingle", I winked slash also defended myself.

"But you let her kiss you. And," she said making hand gestures, "you didn't seem upset with it."

Camila was acting funny. It was as if she was- "Wait," I said chuckling at the thought. "are you jealous?" Her cheeks reddened. "I'm not."

I poked her arm. "Oh come on, you are jealous."

She crossed her arms. "I'm not. Its just-I'm not used to girls kissing you."

"And I'm not used to seeing my best friend making out with her not-boyfriend at someone's party.", my voice turned serious.

Her eyes widened. "What?"

"I saw you two making out in the kitchen!", I shouted.

"Was there anything wrong?", she shouted back.

"Yes.", I said angrily.

"And what exactly is wrong?"

I pulled her upstairs and opened the last door. "This is what's wrong." I opened the door to show Camila what Cameron was doing behind her back. Tears fell from her eyes. "C-cam?"

Suddenly Cam's head turned to us. So did Fiona. I could tell by the way their bodies were positioned that we had just interrupted them from making out.

"Babe!" Cameron's voice filled the room.

"Don't babe me!" Camila said burying her head in her hands before storming away. Cameron quickly put his shirt on to follow when I stopped him. "No." my voice came out ice-cold. "Don't  you dare follow her or come near her."

You're lucky I didn't break your face.

He protested but I didn't want to hear any of it so I left without a word and went on to find Camila.
