And You're Spending All Your Time

Eventually her tears ceased to fall. Not because she wasn't hurting still, but because she no longer had it in her to cry anymore.

She was so sick of crying. It felt to her as though she had been crying every damn day since Jackson had become so mean to her. Enough was enough.

Deep down she knew that Stiles was right, which is why she had such a reaction to what he had said. She knew it was true, but she didn't want to admit it to herself because she was still holding on to the happier times she shared with her boyfriend.

Maybe it was time to let go of a dead relationship after all. The trouble was that she didn't know how, so instead she just stuck to it.

"So...what do you want to do? In high school nothing stays a secret forever and he's bound to find out." Stiles stated.

"I guess you're right...and I don't know. I need to think about it for a while." She answered honestly.

He understood that better than anyone else, at least he liked to think that he was. It was clear that she would eventually come to her decision, but wasn't in her right mind to at the moment.

It just wasn't fair for Jackson, or anyone even, to force her to make a choice on the spot. He could only hope that she would make the right one. Until then though, everything else was out of his hands. All he could do was be there when she wanted or needed.

************************************
It had been a week since that conversation in her bedroom with Stiles, and during that time she had suffered through endless situations  with Jackson and had contacted Stiles a few times.

Most importantly though, she had managed to get some thinking done. Yet she still hadn't managed to come to a decision. It seemed impossible to choose between two things that she held dear. Her friendship with Stiles was equally as important to her as her relationship with Jackson.

Finally she made at least one decision though....which was that she needed space from Jackson in order to think things through properly. So that's what she was going to do on this cold Monday in March.

The first half of school had gone smoothly, and she had even ended up paired in a class project with Stiles. It was this part that she was dreading. Currently it was lunch time and now that she had eaten her lunch sat next to Allison, much to Jackson's disgust, and that had left her with enough time to now do what she had to.

Bracing herself with steady breaths, she got up and walked over to the table where Jackson was sat with his alpha male douche bag friends, and tapped his shoulder. He turned around at the exact same time that she did. She didn't notice that Stiles was watching her from his seat over next to Scott.

"Can't you see that I'm talking with my friends! This is so rude of you!" He snapped clearly unimpressed.

Instantly, she looked down at the floor with regret in her eyes. In the back of her mind, she knew that the decision would only land in trouble. But it was too late to take it all back now.

"Well speak you dumb blonde!" He demanded.

She didn't dare disobey.

"Can...can we talk privately?" She asked nervously.

Her hands were beginning to shake as she anticipated his response.

"Anything you wanna say can be said right here. I'm sure it's not that important. Just don't embarass me, or tell me that you're pregnant...wait you're not are you?" He rambled dumbly.

"No! Why would I be....we haven't even...never mind. What I am trying to say is that I think we need a break for a while. The thing is, I don't get the chance go clear my head or do things to take care of myself while trying to make you happy...so I need some time to figure things out. I'm sorry Jackson." She poured her heart out.

For a moment everything was silent. Though she wasn't too scared since he couldn't do anything too horrible in a cafeteria full of his friends and classmates, not to mention members of staff. The most he could do right now was yell at her of call her dirty names. That she could handle...at least she hoped.

"No. Not happening!" He exclaimed, rising from his seat.

Clearly he was trying to intimidate her into changing her mind. She took a deep breath for the huge haul of verbal abuse that was most likely about to be thrown her way. She knew that this would be a big mistake but as far as she was concerned that was all she was good at doing anyway. Everyone could always count on her to make the worst possible choices and she hated that about herself.
