Part 33- Destiny

ROSALY

Rosaly carefully put the coffee cup on the table, and paid attention to what Shawn was saying. Sometimes she shook her head in agreement, sometimes she just kept silent without saying anything. They had just gotten up, and the effects of the tension she'd gone through in her apartment were still present. It was hard to believe that John had shown up there and done all that stuff, and the worst thing was that he reminded her of her ex-fiancée, and she knew that she would never look at him without thinking about it. If Shawn hadn't shown up, what could have happened? A chill went through her body, making her feel uncomfortable. She stared at Shawn and focused on what he was saying at that moment.

- Rosely, I don't think it's a good idea for you to keep working on Weekend while this guy's still there. He proved he can't be trusted, and who can guarantee that what happened here yesterday will happen again?

- I already told you Shawn, I don't want him to get hurt. Besides, it's the first time he's done that. John has never disrespected me before.

- I don't trust him, Rosely. I want you away from this guy. -Shawn realized what a debauchery Rosaly made of hearing him say that. - It's not jealousy, Rosely. I'm afraid he's gonna hurt you. What if I'm not around if he tries that again? - Rosaly saw Shawn's worried look, put her hand on his, and tried to calm him down:

- That's not gonna happen, Shawn. Don't worry about it. - then he pulled her into his arms, and he sat her on his lap. The space between them was small, so they stayed very close to each other, their lips almost rubbing off, and Rosaly couldn't help but admire the brown of his eyes.

- I don't know what I'd do if someone hurt you. I feel a terrible dread just thinking about it. - His lips were in her hair and Rosaly felt his warm breath on her face. She turned around, and caught his face between her hands saying:

- Stop worrying, Shawn. I'm fine and I'm here. - .her lips rested upon his, sweet and soft. Shawn seemed to relax and pulled her even closer.

Their bodies were so close that Rosaly could hear his fast, vigorous heartbeats. She deepened the kiss, her tongue wrapped around Shawn's made him groan softly. She interrupted the kiss and said:

- I'm gonna go shower and get dressed, because I want to resolve this situation as soon as possible.

- Do you want some company? - Shawn asked with that crooked smile that she had learned to love.

-I don't think that's a good idea. I know exactly how this is going to end, and I can't have any distractions right now.

-Oh, do you mean I'll distract you? -Shawn kept looking at her maliciously.

- Pretty much. - Rosaly stared at that perfect face, that mouth that drove her crazy with its caresses. She could almost feel it slipping through her skin now and...stop it, right now, Rosaly scolded herself. How could she have that kind of thought first thing in the morning? It was almost indecent, and she had never been like that before, but ever since she'd met Shawn, it seemed as if her body had taken on a life of its own and she no longer owned her will. She wished for it all the time, and all it took was for him to kiss her so that she would want him in her bed. This was all crazy! She was bewitched by that man and could not resist his manhood. Shawn Mendes was a danger to his sanity, and to that of all women within a mile of him. How could he be so sexy and so selfless at the same time? That was a lethal combination, no woman would resist a man like that.

- Are you by any chance planning a murder? - Shawn asked to pull you out of your enchantment.

-What? - She didn't understand the meaning of the question.

- You were looking at me with a look so fierce, I was trying to figure out who you'd like to murder if you could.-he said with a sly smile.

- Not you for sure. - She answered laughing, too, trying to disguise her growing excitement. She had to get out of there right away before she threw herself at Shawn and made love on the kitchen table. She was going crazy. She was sure about it.

- I'm going to the shower. - and went quickly to her room while she heard Shawn ask behind her:

- Are you sure you don't want some company?

-I am. - She screamed from her room. But the truth was,she wanted it badly ,but she needed to keep her mind clear at that moment.

Rosaly shook her head, trying to keep some consistency in her thoughts.

She'd never been interested in sex, because it had never been a priority in her life. With Caio she'd never really known what it was, but with Shawn she'd already experienced so much that she felt like she'd never lived before.

And since she loved to touch him, not to mention that Shawn was a delight to look at, dress up or undress, he was almost six feet tall of pure beauty. He was a handsome man and an even more incredible human being.

Shawn was responsible for her emotional change. She had smiled again, and had more confidence in herself. His love had healed most of her traumas, and being with him was all she wanted.

When she returned, Shawn was already waiting for her in the room. He took her to the Weekend, but they didn't talk much. Rosaly was a little nervous, and she asked him to put one of his songs on the cd player, as she always calmed down by listening to him sing.

He put the song if I can't have you, because he knew she loved it. She told him that once, and as always Shawn had not forgotten. He seemed to have all the things about her in his head, and Rosaly was always impressed with Shawn's ability to remember the smallest details of a conversation they'd had before. She couldn't always have that same ability. Maybe because he was a musician and wrote songs for so long, he'd sharpened his memory so much that he ended up remembering the things that interested him the most without much effort.

The chorus of the song was playing full steam ahead in the car, and Rosaly caught herself singing along with Shawn. From time to time, one would look at the other and smile, and several times she felt Shawn holding her hands as if trying to give her courage.

Shawn parked his car in the only parking space left in the Weekend parking lot, which indicated that the diner must have been crowded with people.

When Rosaly opened the car door, Shawn made mention of following her, but she held her hand and said:

- Wait for me here.

- You really don't want me to go with you?- his voice was worried again.

- No. I can handle it myself. - Rosaly tried to make her voice sound firm, but inside it was another story. She was extremely nervous, but she didn't want to give Shawn the impression that she was so fragile that she would break at the first sign of tension. She'd been on her own for a year, and while she appreciated all the protection Shawn gave her, she didn't want to become dependent on him. She preferred to preserve her own individuality.

Okay. I'll wait here for you, but if he tries anything with you, I'll go in there and I'll kick his ass.

- I won't be long, I promise. - she kissed him softly on the lips, and she walked into the cafeteria.

She greeted everyone with his usual smile, and realized Lexy wasn't there. Then she remembered it was her day off and breathed in relief. She didn't want her friend to know what happened in her apartment. She knew of her interest in John and didn't want to disappoint her.

Rosaly arrived at John's office door, and stopped for a moment, took a deep breath, trying to calm her heart that had increased the beats per second.

"Come on, Rosaly, you can do it," she said to herself. She filled herself with courage and knocked on the door, John's deep voice giving her permission to enter. When he saw who he was, he lost his composure a little, showing his nervousness, but soon he regained his calm and said:

Good morning, Rosely. I didn't expect you so soon.- Those green eyes were so similar to Caio's', and the way they looked at her the day before in his apartment, reminded her of the former fiance's coldness when he was angry with her, his way of humiliating her because of small things, his lack of compassion and his violence when he took her in his arms and forced her to do what he wanted. Rosaly closed her eyes for a second trying to remember that it was John who was there, not Caio.

- Rosely, are you okay? - She heard John say it. She opened her eyes in time to see him get up from the table and walk toward her, and. she almost panicked and said in an altered voice:

Please don't come any closer! - John seemed to be shocked by her words, and stood where he was.

- Rosely, I would never do you any harm. I just wanted to know if you were all right.

- I'm fine, though. - She sighed.

-So you came all this way to talk about what happened yesterday?-His voice sounded hopeful.

- No, I don't think there's anything to be said. I came here to resign. - Her words took him by surprise, and John pale. She was surprised at herself. Before she went in there she thought she could talk to John and together they would find a way to make it work, but as she stared into those eyes that reminded her of her past, she realized she couldn't go on there. Shawn was right, she needed another job, and to move on with her life.

- Rosely, you don't have to do that. You're an excellent employee. Let's talk and come to an agreement. Rosaly saw the desperation on his face, but he wasn't moved.

-I've already made my decision, John. -Yeah. It's better for everyone if I leave. I appreciate the opportunity, I was very happy that year I worked here. I'm gonna miss it. - she felt her voice bottled up and stopped talking, deeply inspired and continued - You're a good man. I want you to know that I hold no grudge. - John shook his head, but he didn't say anything. Rosaly looked at him one last time and said goodbye:

- Goodbye, John.

- Goodbye, Rosely, and good luck.

- Thank you. She turned her back and left the room closing the door behind her. She walked pretty fast, wanting to get out of there as fast as she could. She didn't say goodbye to anyone, she didn't want any questions about why she left. Shed leave it up to John to explain what had happened. As for Lexy, she'd talk to her friend later. When she reached the exit gate, she started sobbing compulsively. It seemed like she was always saying goodbye to the things she loved most and always for the same reason.

She looked for Shawn's car in the parking lot and when she saw it, she walked towards it. Rosaly threw herself into his arms still crying.

- Rosely, what happened? Did that bastard hurt you?- he asked worried about her condition. Rosaly just shook her head in the negative, and Shawn waited for her to calm down and tell her what had happened. Soon, Rosaly stopped crying and reported all of her conversation with John.

- Why does it always seem like I'm running from something, Shawn? I'm so tired of having to leave the things I love the most behind. Why does it seem like my destiny is to live that way?

- Don't be like that, Rosely. Everything will get better, you'll see.

- You're not gonna leave me, are you? I couldn't bear it if I lost you. - She hugged him in despair.

- Never my love. I'll always be here for you. - Shawn kissed her hair tenderly. They stayed like that for a few seconds. Rosaly looked out the window and saw a dark glass car stopped a few feet from where they were. She couldn't see the driver, and she felt a strange sensation rising up her spine. When the driver realized she was watching him, he hurried to close the car window and the feeling in her spine increased.

- Let's go home. - Shawn asked, dismissing the bad feeling Rosaly had had.

- Yeas.- . Rosaly agreed, smiling. She didn't want to think about anything else at that moment. She was going home with Shawn, that's all that mattered.
