Chapter 19

Killian drives us to the docks again and when he stops the car I look over at him. Leave it to him to take me on a date with breaking and entering, this feels all too like my dates with Neal.

"Another breaking and entering stunt?" I ask.

Killian chuckles and turns to look at me.

"Not exactly Swan," he says.

Relief floods through me, thank god. I will not go down that road again, not when I'm so close to being apart of Henry's life. He steps out of the car and walks around to open my door. He holds out his hand and waits for me to take it. It wraps around mine and the warmth takes over. He shuts the door behind me and we walk hand in hand to the boat we'd broken into the first time. This time a man stands on the dock with his hands folded in front of him.

"Killian," he says.

"Thank you for doing this, sorry about the other day," Killian says.

"I didn't know it was you, next time give a guy a little warning," he says.

"Hi, I'm Emma. I'm sorry that this knucklehead decided to trespass on your boat," I say.

The man laughs.

"Hello Emma, I'm John this is my boat, I've been teaching Killian how to take care of her, if I knew it was him I wouldn't have yelled. I apologize," he says.

"Is everything ready?" Killian asks interrupting.

The man nods.

"Thank you again," he says.

"Anytime Killian."

The man holds his hand out to me to help me across the gap. I politely smile and take it crossing over to the boat.

"I'll be back in a few hours, behave she sees and hears everything," he says.

Killian laughs, and nods his head in gratitude. He steps onto the boat next and leads us down below. The temperatures today are beautiful, but there's a slight breeze picking up as night starts to fall over StoryBrooke. The table in the center has food from Granny's set out, and two candles to light up the dimly lit room.

"Grilled cheese seems to be our thing," he says.

"Onion rings? How did you know?" I ask.

"Pegged you for an onion rings gal," he says.

I laugh. Killian pulls out one of the pale wooden chairs and motions for me to sit. I tuck my dress under me and sit down in the chair, he pushes it in slightly and then takes his seat across the table.

"Oh, I almost forgot," he says.

From under the table he pulls out the heeled shoe I wore to the ball.

"You uh- dropped this," he says.

"You kept it for me?" I ask.

He nods, and I laugh.

"What?" he questions.

"Nothing," I say my face flushing.

Eating dinner with Killian on this boat is the most real date I've ever had. I'm surprised about how talkative he is tonight. He tells me that college was never on his list of things to do, but even though he was a troubled teen he still wanted to try to prove himself. He'd gone his whole life being told he'd never amount to anything, that he'd be troubled his whole life. He wanted to prove to everyone, including the man who abused him, and all of the foster parents he ever had that he was capable of doing something good with his life.

"I would never peg you as an English Lit major," I say.

"Oh, and what would you have me pegged as?" he asks.

"I'm not sure, you look like a guy who would do something with his hands," I say.

"I can do many things with my hands Ms. Swan," he says in that low seductive voice that turns on that feeling in my lower stomach.

His eyes widen and I think he notices me almost squirming in my seat. I cover up the whole thing with a nervous laugh.

"So are you happy the school made the mistake of putting you in English Lit?" he asks.

"Maybe," I say.

"Wouldn't have bumped it to me other wise," he says.

"Not entirely true, there's always Tink," I say.

"I'd never been to your apartment before you moved in," he says. "I only did it to piss you off," he confesses.

"You wanted to piss me off?" I ask.

"You had this spunk about you, and setting you off made me like you more," he says.

I laugh.

"If your finished I'd like to show you the second part of our date," he says.

I help Killian clean up the mess on the table. I throw the garbage out on the docks, and then get back on the boat. I head to the bow and take in the night sky. Over here the lights of the town are dim and I can see the tiny white stars in the sky. As I get lost in my own thoughts a warm arm wraps around me as his scruffy face brushes against the skin on my cheek.

"Fascinating isn't it?"

"It's amazing over here," I say.

"You're amazing," he whispers.

I spin unaware of how close we actually are. There's no space between us and I can feel his entire body pressed into mine. I swallow hard and look up at him.

"Killian, I..."

"Shh, Emma you're killing the moment," he whispers placing his pointer to my lips.

My entire body shivers from his touch. His finger traces the line of my lips and I close my eyes, and attempt to keep the twitching feeling at bay.

"Just let it happen," he whispers.

His finger hooks under my chin and pulls my lips to his. At first we are just pressed together unmoving, and then my tongue dances along his lips asking for permission to enter. He finally lets me in and as he does his hand tangles in my ponytail, and my hand runs through his messy dark hair. Killian moans into my mouth and I have to squeeze my legs together from the pressure. He chuckles.

"What?" I ask.

"Nothing."

He gives me a small kiss and then pulls away, sliding his hand inside mine and tugging me back below deck. The room is still lit only by the glow of the candles. The only difference is there's a white sheet hanging on the far wall of the cabin.

"Dinner and a movie, right?"

He lets go of my hand and walks over to a small projector propped up on a small table I hadn't noticed earlier. He points over to the bed where he's propped some pillows along the wall for comfort. I hop up onto the bed and kick off my shoes.

"Make yourself at home Swan," he teases.

I pull a Ruby and give him the finger and he chuckles softly.

"So what movies are playing tonight?"

"I didn't have many options so I went with some cartoon about a green dude..." .

He starts walking over toward the bed with a tiny remote in his hand. He stays standing as he starts playing with the settings.

"The Hulk?"

He laughs.

"Unfortunately, that wasn't available."

"Hope Shrek is okay," he says.

"The green ogre who lives with all those fairy tale characters?"

He nods.

"Sorry luv, I can take you to the real movies, but I figured this..."

I sit forward and grab the front of his shirt pulling him down towards me, he looks stunned that I'm doing this.

"It's perfect," I whisper on top of his lips.

He smiles and pulls away slightly to press the play button. He tosses the remote aside and plops onto his back on the bed. Grunting he rolls over towards me and loops and arm over my shoulder.

"I like feona," I say halfway through. "I mean how badass is it that she starts singing to the birds and the thing just poof explodes, then she's just innocently frying some eggs on a rock like everything's alright," I say.

Killian laughs.

"Donkey is the most badass character," he says.

"Why's that?" I ask.

"The dude slept with a dragon, that's badass," he jokes.

"He needed someone to light a fire under his ass," I say.

"Good one Swan," Killian chuckles.

For the rest of the movie we sit in quiet. I'm actually shocked that I'm having an okay time with him. When the movie ends we clean up everything and return the cabin to the way it was.

Killian pulls up to the apartment and once again opens my door. Leading up to the apartment my nerves take over. Do I kiss him again? Do I let him kiss me? I've never been on a proper date before, and since meeting Killian never did I think I'd be on a real date with him.

We stop at the door and he spins me around to face him.

"I actually had a good time, Swan," he says.

"So you thought you wouldn't?" I ask.

"I didn't know what to think, sometimes I think you're into me and other times I'm pretty sure you are only eyeing my balls because you want to kick them," he jokes.

"Your not wrong," I laugh.

He puts his hand on my lower back and pulls me into him. I can feel all of him again. He sighed as if he feels it too.

"Goodnight Emma," he whispers in my ear.

His scruffy cheek rubs against me as he pulls away.

"Goodnight Killian."

Neither of us seem to want the night to end. He stands there for an extra second before finally walking away. I step inside the apartment and I'm for once actually thankful that Ruby has gone out for the night, I need some time to process my feelings and I need to do it alone.
