"It was all a lie we made up to get attention from the city, I don't want to continue it anymore because we're condemning innocent children for a crime they never committed." Keith stared into the mirror as he fixed his tie slowly, he was supposed to have a meeting with the sheriff and Mr.Prescott would be taking him to get his photo taken with the Destiny cologne straight afterwards. He stared into the mirror and into his purple iris's, he heard that there was a surgery that can change the colors of your eyes like from brown to blue. Maybe there was a way to change his from purple to blue?
That would be kinda nice wouldn't it? He asked himself with a small, saddened smile, to have normal eyes like everyone and to never be called by purple or lavender ever again...it would be a dream come true. He fixed his hair and turned away from the mirror to look at his door, he had already told his parents what had happened; or at least the lie. He and Abigail went to the party, got drunk and decided to stage the entire rape fiasco, they made Abby look like she had been hurt and they went home the same night and called the police. The two of them then began to feel scared of someone finding out about it that they went along with it but Keith, being an honest man, had to tell the truth because it was eating away at him. The entire lie made Keith want to leave the country and never show his face again, Abby was sure to find out sooner or later but for now Keith only cared about securing her a future she could live without loans and debts like normal college students struggled with.
"Keith, the sheriff is here!" Jared shouted from downstairs.
After the entire situation rose up, Jared had been spending most of his time at work rather than at his own home; he wasn't himself anymore. Keith slowly walked out of his room and shut the door behind him, Abigail was at the psychiatrist with Mary today for an evaluation and they would be home by the time Keith was getting his money and pictures done. He made his way downstairs and found Jared and Sheriff Lesley sitting at the kitchen table.
Keith bowed his head politely to the sheriff and avoided any contact with Jared as he seated himself across from the older woman. "Hello sheriff." Keith greeted her with mustered up confidence.
"Afternoon kid." She replied before placing her phone on the table and pressed record on the voice recorder app she had. "Please tell me exactly what you told your father and I'll be gone before you know it." Her voice was cold and calm.
Keith nodded obediently as he remembered the deal he made two night ago. It was all for Abby, so she could get better. He would do anything for family. "We staged the entire thing, we were drunk and thought it'd be funny to stage this situation where Abigail was raped. We were scared of people finding out so we've been quiet about it but I can't hide behind such a disgusting lie anymore; I had to tell the truth." He tried to keep his perfect posture but every cell in his body was screaming in rage at his stupidity, he knew what he was doing would come to bite him in the rear one day but he wanted Abby to smile again; to be the girl she once was.
"That's all. "

"Stuuuupid!" Abby stuck her tongue out at Keith as he played clue with her and their parents. "You're so wrong about the murderer I bet Keith, you can't even find your school shoes when we need to get on the bus how can you solve a game mystery?"
Mary looked at her daughter sternly as she held her cards up, "Abigail do not call Keith stupid, how many times have we told you to be nice?"
"I'm willing to bet that my deduction is one hundred percent correct. If it is you owe me all of your ice chocolate for a month." Keith slowly pushed his large glasses up the bridge of his nose as he smirked smugly at his sister.
Jared sighed as he picked up the envelope containing the answers inside, he had lost a long time ago. "Keith it's so early though, and I didn't even get it right and I'm the champion at clue. Are you sure?" His brown eyes seemed annoyed as he tried to talk his son out of it. It was a boys verses girls game night and Keith was the last one standing on the boys team so clearly Jared didn't want to lose.
"I'm positive Jared, so Abby you wanna take my offer?" Keith smiled as he got ready to say his answer out loud.
The blonde girl looked at him from across the table and furrowed her brows as she stuck out her bottom lip slightly, "Sure." She mumbled and Mary watched as Jared pulled out the cards and turned them to face him.
"Miss Peacock, the gun and it happened in the kitchen." Keith said with confidence as he pointed his index finger to the roof already knowing he was correct
"H-how?" Jared exclaimed tossing the cards onto the table eating a gasp from Mary and a scowl from Abigail.
"I bet he cheated." Abigail grumbled in defeat.
Keith slowly rose up from his seat and held his arms in the air as Jared jumped out of his seat in excitement that they won. "Are you not entertained Abigail?" Keith exclaimed in his best gladiator impression
"That's my boy!" Jared exclaimed as he lifted up Keith in happiness. "I can't believe you managed to do that with so little to go off of."
Keith laughed as his dad spun around with him, the girls unamused at their bromance moment, "It's because the clues are right under your nose Jared!"
°•°•Age 16•°•°
"It's right under your nose Keith, how can you not smell the cologne?" Toby asked in anger.
Keith stared at his 'father' in annoyance as he shook the clearly empty bottle of Destiny in front of the man. "It's empty sir, if you're asking me if I can smell something then I must say all that's hitting my nose is bullshit. Sir." Keith stated bluntly, "There's nothing in this bottle." With that he tossed the glass bottle at Toby and watched as the chubby man struggled to catch the expensive bottle.
He turned cherry red and grabbed his assistant by the shoulder, "Did you forget to get a full bottle? Are you serious Sasha?" He shoved the bottle into her chest and dismissed her.
Keith ignored the man who had begun yelling at his workers as he fixed his tie carefully, they had him wear his large framed glasses for the photoshoot and did about three hours worth of makeup on him to get rid of the dark circles that had formed under his eyes from restless nights and some of his acne that every teen had. He wanted to go home already, he had been there for six hours and it was already nighttime so he should be allowed to go and eat dinner with what was left of his family; right?
"Toby, sir?" Keith began to turn around to face his boss as he loosened the tight black tie around his neck he had been fidgeting with all night. "May I head home now? I need to eat dinner if you want me to remain healthy for appearances with you once you publish the photos."
Toby, the sweaty old pig, nodded slightly as he pushed away the photographer. "Right, right. But next time I see you, adjust the attitude Keith, the public doesn't like brats."
How can I not be a brat when your son is responsible for what happened to my sister. Keith wanted the courage to spit onto Toby's shoes and hiss those words but he didn't want to ruin the deal he made in order to save his sister, he instead bowed his head politely with a calm face before turning around; his aura changing completely as his face darkened. "Of course sir, anything you wish for I'll do."

Keith silently walked into his room and shut his door behind him before walking over to his mirror to take a long look at himself. He looked exactly like a child of a wealthy man, young, uptight, too perfect. His face had slowly begun to mature, his once childish and young appearance faded with the stress of hiding behind a secret and his face was now emotionless, cold and distant like that of a monster who has no morals; he was practically there anyways. He broke every little rule Jared had taught him like never giving up hope, and not letting your flaws get to you. His tragic flaw just happened to be his heart, he cared too much for others and his shoulder showed it clearly. Mr. Stewart had always been right about him from the start and Keith never listened. He stared into the cold dead purple orbs that belonged to someone entirely different from the boy who once cared so much about his family. Without thinking he ripped off his glasses and threw them against a wall in a sudden fit of rage.
"Dammit!" He shouted and grabbed at his hair and pulled at it as he felt to his knees. "What am I doing?" His voice cracked as he pressed his forehead against the carpeted floor and let out an inhuman wail as tears fell down onto the floor to be soaked up instantly. "I'm so sorry Abigail, I wish I didn't have to do this...but..." His body trembled as he cried to himself, "I just want you to be happy again."
"By breaking my promise and making everyone think I'm doing this for attention?" Abigail's voice sounded as the door creaked open slowly. Keith's head snapped up in horror, his eyes wide with shock as he stared at his frail looking sister who had been skipping meals. Her green eyes were glossy with unshed tears. "You think I wanted this? You made a promise to always believe me Keith!" She shouted in betrayal.
"I do Abby, I do believe you! I'm only doing this for you I swear, i-" Keith slowly stood up and reached out his hand to his sister, seeking comfort in her as his chest felt emptier by the second. He never wanted her to find him in such a defenseless state like he had found her before. He was the one she had to lean on but now it was like a rift had been torn between the two that could never be put back together by pieces of tape and meaningless word of 'I'm sorry'.
Abigail slammed her foot down and screamed suddenly, "No Keith! You told mom and dad and- and the sheriff a fucking lie, a lie that makes me look bad!" She cried in despair and then looked up at his eyes once more. "I hate you!" She shouted and slammed the door shut behind her without waiting another second.
Keith stood there with his hand reached out grasping at air, she's never going to forgive me unless I try to make her understand I did it to keep her safe from all those people calling her a whore and a fake. I did it to Dave her. Keith stumbled over to the door, unable to see clearly without his glasses and the fact that his tears blurred his already impaired vision. He bumped into his door and pulled it open in a small struggle before he nearly tripped over himself to enter the hallway.
Mary stood at the top of the staircase, "Keith what is going on? Abigail ran into the bathroom crying..." She asked as she stared at the broken child leaning against the wall in front of her.
Keith slowly met her eyes and swallowed down any bit of pride he had as he pushed past the woman who had adopted him into the family. The family that was falling apart because of him. He fell down the last three steps on the staircase and banged his chin on the hardwood floor causing him to bite his lip and accidentally caused it to bleed.
He sat up on the floor and tried to get back up but his body was too weak as he failed every time. His entire sense of joy was giving way to despair slowly and he couldn't stand it, he didn't want to fall back into that state again, not the one where he was someone else's lifeless doll they could play with and manipulate. "Abigail, I'm sorry!" He shouted as he dragged himself to his feet, his voice sounded like one that belonged to a kid that had been punished terribly for something.
"Keith what is going on?"Mary demanded as she began to rush down the stairs in urgency.
He looked over his shoulder at her, blood filling his mouth slowly, snot and tears on his face. "I'm sorry mother." He whispered and watched her eyes widen into surprise from him calling her Mother for the first time since he had been adopted.
He stumbled over to the bathroom and jiggled the handle to find it locked. He banged his palm against it roughly as he tried to get the broken girl inside to open it up, "Please hear me out Abigail. I'm sorry, just let me explain it to you I promise it will work out in the end just don't do anything stupid, please!" He begged his sister on the other side of the door like a dog begging its owner to be let outside.
Mary now stood at his side, banging her hand on the door like her son had been doing, her green eyes full of so many emotions words couldn't describe it except for two words; mothers love. "Abby," she whined, "Please open the door or I'm going to break it down!"
When no answer came Mary pushed away the hyperventilating Keith still crying and saying sorry under his breath before she grabbed onto the bronze handle and slammed her shoulder into it with full force, she winced in pain but the door didn't budge an inch. "Dammit!" She grunted as she repeated the process over and over again, each time she put a little more strength into it until it finally busted open and the door whipped open to Abby on the floor passed out.
Keith's heart shattered at the sight of her arms, blood soaked and cut up in different areas. They weren't the type of cuts that people do to release stress it was more of an acceptance of death since she had one travelling down her arm vertically. Her razor in her arm and her skin white as snow. "Oh no...god no..." Keith slowly pressed his hand against his mouth as bile rose up. It was all his fault, everything. Mary screamed in horror as she cradled her daughter in her arms and begged Keith to call 911.
She's going to die because of me...

Christmas is the season of joy, generosity and family. It was the most loved holiday celebrated nearly world wide with the exception of some countries. It originates from Christianity which is one of the largest religions in the world, Christmas was supposedly the birth of their lord and savior, Jesus Christ; the man who had died on the cross for his peoples sins.
The holiday was always celebrated in the goofiest ways at Keith's home. The first year when he was adopted, Jared had dressed as Santa Claus and stuffed a pillow into his shirt and read Keith and Abigail a bed time story as Mary secretly recorded it from behind the tree. When Keith and Abigail were thirteen they celebrated it with their relatives through a snowball fight and a snowman building contest. When he was fourteen they went paintballing (Jared's treat to Keith) and the boys dominated the girls who had poor aim and kept tripping over their own feet in the backyard. They had fun during it but not during the clean up, year fifteen; they decided to watch Halloween movies and eat all the Christmas cookies while they yelled at the TV in frustration as the protagonist did everything you shouldn't do in their situation like call out to the killer or breathed heavily when the killer was next to them. But this year, they spent it at a hospital bed, quietly crying as they stared at the once so cheerful Abigail be hooked up to all different types of machines, stitches on her arm and blood bags nearby. The doctors managed to close up all of her wounds even the vertical one that had claimed so many people before.
Keith sat in the corner of the room trembling as he tried to figure out what to do as his mother cried in his fathers arms, whispering a prayer as they sat next to their child. You need to tell them the truth, they deserve to know... He slowly put his hands in his hair and leaned over to stare at the ground with wide bloodshot eyes. But if I do, they'll hate me forever, I can't lose another family. But if I tell them there's a chance I might be forgiven. A small smile spread across Keith's lips as he tried to hold back a hysterical giggle, his body was rocking slightly as he thought about the endless possibilities that could happen. All of the ended in a bad way, this wasn't like a life simulator where he could fail over and over but go back to where he had messed up by hitting retry again and again in an endless loop. Of course I can always continue with the lie but get found out once Abigail wakes up. She's going to hate me forever isn't she? She's going to wish for me to die won't she? She's going to -
"Keith." Jared's raspy voice sounded, instantly shaking Keith out of his hysteria. His purple eyes lifted up and he lost his smile as he returned to reality. The man hadn't shaved in days and he was already growing a beard, his eyes red and exhausted but still just as wise and warm as before. "Tell us the truth of what happened, I know you've been lying."
Keith's heart thundered in his chest as he shook his head. "I-I didn't lie sir, I swear I didn't." He refused to accept the truth and tugged at his hair in fear.
Mary slowly looked up at him with puffy red eyes as she stood up. She looked smaller, weaker than normal. "Keith, you're going to tell us exactly what the fuck is going on right now or I swear to god you'll regret ever becoming my child!" Her once quiet and caring tone changed into a loud and threatening one as she slammed her foot down in anger, grief and despair.
Keith stood up quickly causing the stool he was sat on to fall over. "I told you, I'm not-"
"Bullshit!" Jared stood up and kicked his chair over. "You're lying and we all know it Keith so tell us right now what is happening."
The jig was up now, somehow along the way Jared had figured him out, had learned how he had lied. Keith felt only slightly relieved but at the same time he was shaking in fear from how angry the adults had gotten within the short amount of time. He decided to confess his sins to the two people who had cared for him as if they were priests at a confession, lending him an ear. "I did lie, I lied to the sheriff and I made a deal with Toby Prescott in order to keep Abigail safe from harassment. He gave us free money, and- and college funds and-" he had begun to hyperventilate as he spoke in quick sentences, his parents looking more and more betrayed with each word that came from Keith's mouth; there was no end to it as he explained everything in full detail about how he had been fooling around with guys behind their backs, broken Jacksons nose, the deal, the pain he had been enduring his entire life because he cared to much and the pain he felt now from lying to the only people who loved...or had loved him like another family member. He confessed all of his sins like a fool, he confessed everything he had done wrong in his life and then he fell silent except for the ragged breathing and his eyes had watered up with unshed tears.
Mary was the closest adult to him and she made that clear as she reared her left hand back and slapped Keith across the face roughly. It snapped Keith out of his daze as his eyes widened and his tears fell from his eyes from the forced of her hit. He was sent stumbling into the stool he had knocked over mere moments before and he fell over it onto the floor, only able to catch himself with the balls of his wrists sending shockwaves of pain through his arms that were quickly replaced with numbness. "How fucking dare you do that? How dare you do that to the family that took you in as our own!" Mary shouted and lunged forward only to be caught and held back by Jared he looked angrier than anything. "How dare you betray us like that, betray Abigail!" She began to violently jerk around in a fit trying to break loose of her husbands grip before she finally relaxed and began to cry again. "Why? We loved you like our own child Keith...why would you do this?"
"I-I'm sorry, I was trying to help Abigail and-" Keith tried to defend himself but was silenced as cold brown eyes landed on him.
"Shut up Keith. Enough of your excuses, take your fucking money and get out of our lives. You belong to the Prescott's not the Frederickson's. I never want to see you ever again."
Keith's mind became blank, his body numbed, his emotions slowly drained from his body along with the color in his pigment as he pushed himself to his feet slowly. There was no use in arguing, he had chosen this path, written his own tragedy by just signing a deal with the devil named Toby. He hung his head low as he dragged himself over to the door, Mary's grief stricken wails dug a deeper hole into Keith's heart as he pushed it open with only four words leaving his lips. "I love you all." And he left his family forever, it was for the best now; if he stayed with them longer then the rift that had slowly opened would only become wider until it was a void that no one could see across. Keith would be lost forever but at least this way he could still remember the fun times they had staring at the stars above, the time he and Abby danced together for the first time, the times Mary taught him how to bake cookies and laughed when Keith got flower on his nose and the times where Jared tutored him in math and did father son activities with him like a real parent. Now he was as he was years ago; alone.

Room 202 Keith, it should be right around this corner here if I read the map correctly... Keith thought to himself as he stared down at the key in the palm of his hand. His beanie was secured to his head, his jeans rolled up and his button up shirt buttoned to his neck and his large glasses rested perfectly on the bridge of his nose. He looked like a fruity college student, just like he intended to look. He didn't care if people knew he liked guys; it was something he couldn't change now. He slowly looked up from rounding a corner to see room 202 directly to his right. Here we go then. Time to meet my new life. He sucked in a deep breath and placed his key into the lock before twisting it and pushing it open. Inside was a college student reading a book on his black bed, his undercut expertly done and frosted tips covered his night eye.
His dark gray eyes lifted up in surprise as he stood up and threw his book onto his bed to greet Keith with a friendly handshake. "Welcome, you must be Keith Kogane, right?" The man seemed thrilled about having a roommate which caused Keith to become slightly awkward as he shook hands with the man.
"Y-yeah, I'm Keith...uh I'm sorry but I don't know your name yet." He admitted in a small voice.
The man laughed slightly and turned pink in embarrassment. "I'm Takashi Shirogane but please just call me Shiro for short." He told Keith politely.
Keith felt a warm sensation grow in his chest from the hospitality being shown by the man in front of him. It was something he hadn't felt for the last two years that he had spent in Japan with the Prescott's. He had returned to America in order to attend the college he and Abby used to dream about as children, Harvard university. "Okay Shiro, but I do have a question that might seem weird to you..."
His grey eyes lit up slightly as Shiro kindly took Keith's bags, "Ask anything, we're going to spend college together so might as well get anything bothering each other out of the way."
Keith nodded in agreement and sucked in a deep breath. If he answers it differently from the others then I'll know he's a kind man. Keith let out the breath of air and pushed his glasses up slowly, "What do you-"
•°•°•°•°• Present day•°•°•°•°•
"What do you think about my eyes?" Keith croaked as he slowly woke up.
"Uh, they're eyes?" Lances confused voice answered and Keith was greeted by the sight of Kouki and Lance standing above him in confusion. "I mean they're different but the mayor's wife has the same eyes so it isn't different to me...why are you an alien?" Lance continued, his blue eyes narrowed.
"If anyone's the alien it's you Mr. McClain." Kouki looked up at the Hispanic man who scoffed in offense.
"Excuse me child, I was offering to let you move into our home too and you're calling your own father an alien? How dare you!" Lance said dramatically as he placed a hand on his chest.
Keith watched the two argue like a family and he felt tears slowly forming on his eyes in envy. "I'm...alive?" He whispered weakly making the two arguing dorks stop to look at him with wide eyes.
"Yeah Mr. Kogane, Lance saved your life and you're in the same hospital room as me." Kouki answered as he looked down at Keith.
Everything he had just relived again was a dream, it had felt so real, he could feel the emotional and physical pain he had endured during his life and he had really risked his life to save the blue eyed idiot in front of him. The feelings inside of him were indescribable as he reached up and grabbed both of them to yank into a hug as his lips curled into a smile and his tears fell down.
"Uhg, Keith your stupid tears are getting into my perfect hair!" Lance exclaimed as he struggled to get away.
Kouki however remained still, "Mr. McClain don't move so much you might break one of Keith's stitches!"
"I'm sorry." Keith smiled up at the roof as he thought about Abigail. He didn't want to dwell on the past anymore now, he had gone to college to become a detective in order to help people in need like his sister who had been abandoned by both him and the law. Now he wanted to focus on solving the case to save someone's future and to create a new life for himself.
He was oblivious to the feelings growing within his heart but as he sat there with an orphan in one arm and a sassy soulmate in the other; his heart was only full of love and compassion. Love for the person he had saved.
