New Years
It's almost the end of the year, and let me just tell you I'm so grateful for all of you. Although 2016 was the worst year in history, I felt like I made a lot of progress as a writer. I just want to thank all of you for this amazing year, see you in 2017.
"Aphmau, I love you so much, more than life itself. I want to be with you forever." I heard Garroth begin to say.
"Garroth..." Aphmau covered her mouth as Garroth got down on one knee.
"Will you marry me, Aphmau?" Garroth asked, and his reply was a jumble of squeaks and nods from the girl herself. Garroth stood back up and wrapped his arms around the small girl, kissing her.
Great, just another reminder that I'm alone.
I backed out of the living room area where the party was being held, walking out to the front of the house. 2016, another year of being single and forever alone.
I pulled out the packet of smokes I used during these times. I lit one, sitting down cross legged on the porch as I blew the smoke out of my mouth, drowning my sorrows in the nicotine.
I looked back at the year, seeing at how much I failed. I was forgotten by all my friends, completely failed an audition, and was treated like shit from the one I love.
"You alone too?" Speak of the devil.
"As always, Blueberry." I sighed, blowing the smoke out into the air.
"I didn't know you smoked." Katelyn covered her nose.
"Oh, sorry." I tapped the end out before throwing aside into the grass. "I only do during times like this."
"Travis..." Katelyn suddenly sat down next to me, leaning her head on my shoulder. Where is all this affection coming from?
"What's this?" I asked, looking at her. She looked up at me with sad eyes before pushing her head into my shoulder as she began to sob.
"I regret everything!" She cried out. "I regret ignoring my feelings! I regret pushing you away! I regret punching you all those times! I regret leaving you! I regret treating you like a punching bag!"
Katelyn continued to name off things she regretted, and I just sat there not exactly knowing what to do. I'm not used to Katelyn being so close to me, let alone sobbing her eyes out. So I just did what anyone would've done-I sat her in my lap and wrapped my arms around her in a comforting hug.
"I regret not being with you when I had the chance." I heard her barely mumble. I felt the blush rise to my cheeks, before looking down at the head of blue against my chest.
"Katelyn." I called to her, "Look at me." She looked up, her gorgeous blues sparkling under the moonlight. "Stop regretting this year."
"But how can I not? I made so many mistakes and-" I put a finger to her lips.
"Stop right there. Don't forget all the good you did this year." I smiled at her.
"Like what?"
"Well for one, you held a neighborhood play, which mind you, was a huge success. And, you went back to school. And you went to Anime Expo. And you went to Love~Love Paradise on a free vacation. And you moved into a brand new place. And-"
"Okay okay, that's enough." She giggled, wiping any remaining tears. I brought my hand to her jaw and wiped the last tear with my thumb.
"Hey Travis, I know we agreed on getting to know each other a bit more, but, I-I just want to start over." Katelyn looked down, a blush present on her face.
"Blueberry, of course I'm okay with that."
For a minute, it was just complete silence. I was staring into her eyes, and she was staring into mine. I noticed how her eyes were like little bits of the ocean.
"Guys! Ten seconds till 2017!" I heard someone yell behind us.
I took a quick glance down at her lips before returning to her eyes.
"Seven! Six!"
I felt myself slowly leaning in, and Katelyn followed my actions.
"Three! Two!"
"One!" I felt our lips touch as they yelled one.
The kiss was shy at first, like strangers. But we soon got used to each other, and our lips began moving in sync. It was slow and full of love, and I felt Katelyn grip my shirt collar, pulling me closer. My hands rested at her hips, tracing imaginary circles.
We soon separated, leaning our foreheads together.
"Happy new year Travis." Katelyn smiled, her arms moving to wrap around my neck. I smiled back, opening my eyes to look at her.
"Happy new year Katelyn."
