Rain changes course, spasmodical
as if traversing invisible road
swerving left,
                            switchbacking right
as if powering through Dolomites -
Passo di Stelvio* -
as if hunch-riding master cylinders,
head defended behind windshield,
haunch-shifting and slewing south,
corkscrewing careless-dare-devilish till
rare ambivalence of dervish swirl,
then
of-a-sudden,
                           simply
                           still.

*The Passo di Stelvio is a rightly famous (and infamous) mountain pass in the Dolomites above Italy. I drove through the alps along that road amongst others in 2015.
