Chapter Six: It touched my heart
Trevor
The lady gave me alcohol to help with the pain. Then she waited a few minutes before operating. First she would remove the bullet, which she did. That was the most painful thing I ever felt. At some point I blacked out.
"Meet your baby sister, Eliana." Adele said, holding a baby.
"We can call her Elle for for short." Scott said.
"Yeah." Adele said agreeing. "Trevor, do you want to hold her?"
I smiled and nodded. Mom came over to me and placed Eliana in my lap.
"Support her head." Adele reminded. I did as told.
"Awww, I wish we could take a picture." Adele said.
"You know you have to look out for two sisters, right Trevor?" Scott asked.
I nodded. "I will protect them both."
Scott nodded. "Good."
Zarah and I raced on our horses, we chose a tree as the finish line. We both crossed the finish line at the same time.
"I beat you, ha ha!" Zarah said.
"No, it was a tie, let's have a rematch." I argued.
"Fine, let's move the finish line while we're at it too." Zarah mentioned.
"Sure,"
We rode back to the start line.
Adele walked out the house. "What's going on out here?"
"Hey mom." I greeted.
"Hi mom, we're just racing on our horses." Zarah explained.
Adele nodded. "May I join?"
"Sure." I said.
Zarah agreed. "Yeah. Will wait for you."
"We'll explain everything when you get back." I told Adele.
"Ok, I'll be back." Mom nodded then headed towards the stables.
Zarah looked over at me. "You know by adding her, you just made it harder for yourself to win, right?"
"Yeah, but it's not about wining, it's about having fun. I thought you knew that." I told her, if all you want to do is win every game, you're never going to have fun.
"Whatever, you went from fifty percent chance of winning to thirty-three winning." She reminded.
Eliana
The lady finished taking care of Trevor's gunshot wounds.
"Let him rest and we'll see how he is tomorrow." The lady said, cleaning up.
"Thank you uh, I'm sorry but I never caught your name." Zarah said.
The lady smiled. "Oh yeah, my name is Claire."
Zarah nodded. "I'm Zarah, that's Thomas, this is Eliana my sister, and that's my older brother, Trevor." She introduced.
Claire nodded. "It's so nice to meet you all. I'll show you all where you'll be sleeping tonight." She finished cleaning up.
We were all able to claim a room, one room per person. It's raining but that doesn't stop me from falling asleep. I hope my brother is ok, he can't die, we need him.
Zarah
"He's still not awake?" Eliana asked.
Eliana, Thomas, Claire and I gathered around the couch that Trevor was on.
"It takes time, but don't worry, he'll be up soon." Claire reassured Eliana.
Eliana smiled in response.
"I'll make breakfast, feel free to help if you want." Claire walked into the kitchen.
Trevor
"Mom, why can't we just buy all this stuff from the store instead of making it?" Zarah asked.
It's thanksgiving day and Mom wants us to help her cook for thanksgiving dinner. I'm fine with helping, Eliana really wants to help, but Zarah doesn't.
"Because when you buy it from the store it's not as special as if you made it. Plus that takes the fun out of it." Mom replied.
"Ok, but when you buy it from the store, it's less work. Plus everything might be ready in time." Zarah looked at her watch. "We have three hours until dinner."
"I don't mind the work." I said.
"Thank you Trevor. I'm glad Trevor and Eliana want to help me." Mom said.
"But-" Zarah started.
Mom cut Zarah off before she could protest again."Stop running your mouth and help."
After working for three hours we finally had the food ready and the table set. We all sat at the table and began eating.
"Let's take turns saying what we're thankful for," Mom said. "I'll go first. I am thankful that we had the food made in time, and that we all got to spend time together on this day."
"I'm thankful that this isn't the first thanksgiving in history." Mom glared at me. "And that this food taste good." I added.
"I'm thankful to have a family and that I'm not lonely." Dad said.
"I'm thankful that we have a roof over are heads and that we are able to celebrate this holiday." Zarah said.
"I'm thankful that everyone is happy today." Eliana smiled.
Under the tree sat twenty gifts.

New clothes
Every Christmas mom gives us new clothes, our real gifts from, her come from birthdays. Everyone was happy with their gifts, some gifts were needed, others were wanted. After opening gifts we enjoyed some breakfast.
"What was your favorite gift? I'll start." Mom said. "Mine was the new pots and pans, thank you Trevor. These will definitely help with cooking."
I smiled. "Your welcome mom, I knew you needed them."
"My favorite gift was the books that Trevor gave me. Thanks Trevor." Eliana smiled.
I nodded at that. "My favorite gift was the $100.00 that dad gave me. Thanks dad." I said smiling.
"Your welcome son. My favorite gift is the hunting rifle that Trevor gave me. Thanks son."
"Your welcome dad."
"My favorite gift was the picture that Eliana gave me. Thanks Eliana, this is what I call art." Zarah said, smiling.
Eliana smiled. "Really?" She looked surprised.
"Yeah, I'm gonna frame it. I do appreciate all the other gifts but this one," Zarah looked at the picture Eliana drew her. "It touched my heart."
"You're welcome Zarah."
Everyone said that they liked their gifts from me except for Zarah. How funny. She was just trying to be nice to Eliana.
"Ten seconds till New Years, start the count down." Mom said.
"Ten," Eliana said.
"Nine," I said.
"Eight," Dad said.
"Seven," Zarah said.
"Six." Eliana said.
"Five," Mom said.
"Four," Eliana said.
"Three," I said.
"Two," Dad said.
"One," Zarah said.
"Happy New Years!" We all shouted.
"Yay!" Eliana squealed.
"What is one of your New Year Resolutions?" Mom asked. "I'll go first, I'll start riding my horse more."
"I'll plant more trees around the yard," Zarah said. "For cleaner air."
"I'll start a garden." I said.
"I'll start saving my money." Eliana said.
"I'll try to stop drinking so much." Dad said. He did have a drinking problem.
