Day 3 | Manhattan- "The Lion King" & Central Park

Sunday, August 13 | 12:23 pm
We're back at the Hotel Sofitel after a leisurely morning. Got up late again since it was a late night. I really didn't want to get up this morning, it was so comfy!!! XD

My parents decided we should go try to get some breakfast at the Whole Foods Market and get some for the next few days, so that we don't have to spend a lot on breakfasts. On the way down, there was a good view of the Chrysler building.

We passed the New York Public Library (the main branch) on the way down, and once we FINALLY got out (I was getting kind of grumpy and hungry), we sat down at a shady table in Bryant Park to eat. It's a beautiful day today, so it's nice to be able to sit and relax outside. The park was a pleasant spot!

We walked around to the front of the library on the way back to the hotel, where the famous lions, Patience and Fortitude, sit by the front steps. We continued to the hotel to get ready for the afternoon- and The Lion King!

6:00 pm
Haha, it's perfectly 6!

Anyway, we ended up with some extra time before the show, so we walked around Time Square a little and the surrounding streets. As we were trying to cross a street to reach the area, we noticed people lined the street and that it was blocked off. Aaaand it was a parade! It turns out today was "Dominican Republic Day" and we just happened to be here!

Eventually, the police let people cross when no paraders were close. Once we reached Times Square, we thought about going into the theater showing Hamilton to get a t-shirt for our cat sitter as a thank-you present, but the line was so big that we decided just to walk around the block to get to our theater. You can see the outdoors, but can't get in!

We saw the Charlie and the Choclate Factory theater again.

Then we saw the Hamilton store, and knew that was the place to shop! Hope she likes the shirt we got her. :3

Finally we got to the theater to watch The Lion King! Here's the outside and the line.

The theater was really big, but we got good seats. It was the first row on the balcony, on the left wrap-around toward the stage, so we were pretty close! The play was fun and a great spectacle. I've heard people say that the best part is the costumes because of the puppetry. They were pretty cool, along with the songs and dancing. It was interesting to see how they transformed it from the movie to the musical. The story is the exact same, so that aspect wasn't as interesting since I've heard it so many times. All in all it was a good show!

We saw the 3:00 show, so it was still early when it was over. My dad wanted to go up to an observation deck to get the view, so we tried for a rooftop bar, but they wouldn't let me stay since I'm not 21 yet. We got a quick peek.

So now my mom and I are waiting in the lobby of the hotel the bar is attached to, because my dad wanted to take the stairs. XD We're be having dinner pretty soon.

10:07 pm
I'm sitting in the hotel room updating! XD Dinner was nice. We went to a fancy-ish restaurant called Haven for a good dinner. The dessert was great! The place had somewhat of a nice view of the city.

We walked back to the hotel afterwards for a relaxed evening. Now we are sitting in bed thinking about what to do tomorrow! G'night!
