Children run and splash around, near the rock holes and river.

Moisture evaporates in the immense water carved rock valley.

Wildflowers cling to parched earth.

Gnarly knotted roots indicate a wetter period.

Saeng Chan waterfall drops from a heart-shaped void to a green oasis.

We trace its path from the cavernous base to the babbling creek up top.

The road, orange as outback, becomes motorbike unfriendly too soon. 

We walk in blistering heat to the closest falls.

We arrive, hot and thirsty.

Not a drop in sight.

Just a sign.

I hadn't realized I'd gone more than a week without posting. Just went on several missions looking for Kiwis, no tangible sightings to report but we did see a nocturnal lizard, ducks and little blue penguins, so still good night walking. That being said this will be the last update from New Zealand. If I'm not too busy running around there might be another from the US next week, and once I'm flown back and settled back at home we'll be back to twice weekly updates :)
