Without hiccups,

We arrive at Mandalay airport

Staff won't check us in

Until a worker arrives

clutching a basket of boarding passes

Rendering the clerks' computers decorative

Checkpoint after checkpoint,

No one inspects for liquids

Guards don't move

when the metal detector sounds.

But the plane departs,

all the same.

Smooth sailing

through Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur,

Our baggage evades the carousel

It's nearing midnight,

Another tourist arriving from Mandalay

needs to connect to Langkawi

Ethan adamant 

"I knew this would happen!"

I leave to exchange money

It's resolved as I return

Confusing luggage tags

Baggage arrives
