Twenty Three

Hello, everyone.

Wow, I can't believe it.

It's the end.

I FINALLY had a burst of inspiration.

I'm sorry that this ended so quickly.  Everything will be resolved in this, promise.

There MIGHT be a epilogue, idk.

Anyway...here we go.

WARNING: death

(There will be an asterisk next to the description of the death so feel free to read over it if you get triggered easily over death)

ONE YEAR LATER

It was raining.

Alex stared at the gravestone, his eyes red as he tried hard not to cry out loud. Although a year ago, the funeral was so hard, especially since this person he loved so much was gone. Even though what they did was horrible and should have faced repercussions, Alex still cared for this person.

And he didn't get to say goodbye.

He signed to himself, sitting down as someone else sat down next to him. He smiled to the person, wrapping his arm around him as he gave him a gentle kiss. The person smiled sadly, looking at the grave once more as he spoke up.

"Alex, we broke up. Beau and I are together. You know this."

"I know, Mitch. Doesn't mean I can't give you a friendly kiss." Alex replied playfully, letting out a laugh as Mitch laughed loudly. The young boy, after a year of treatment and therapy, was healing. "How are your parents?"

Mitch frowned, playing with his prosthetic leg. Alex nodded, knowing that his question was answered. Avi and Kevin decided to get a divorce when Mitch was having treatment. Kevin wanted out because having a sick was too much for him and Avi wanted out because having a husband who didn't want a sick kid hurt him. Kevin still meets up with Mitch, but it's not the same.

It's never the same.

"I'm sorry." Alex murmured, frowing once more. Mitch shrugged, finally looking at the gravestone in front of him. "That's hard, Mitch."

"It is, but I love with Poppy and that's all that matters to me." Mitch whispered, the nickname for Avi making his heart swell. He shook his head once more as he looked at the name. "She's gone, she's finally gone."

Alex looked over at the gravestone, smiling weakly. He felt horrible for smiling, but if Mitch was happy, so be it.

Kirstin Maldonaldo

Rest in Peace

"I'm happy now." Mitch spoke up, tears in his eyes. Alex hugged him, tearing up himself now. "I'm finally happy."

Alex smiled a genuine smile, knowing that this boy deserves nothing but happiness. For the past two years, he struggled with drugs, almost being murdered, and almost dying.

He deserved a break.

They didn't know how much time had past until Mitch spoke up, his voice hoarse from the tears he shed.

"Scott was sentenced today. 15 years with a chance of parole in 3. He will also have counseling sessions during his time."

"Oh, okay." Alex replied, feel his heart break a bit. Mitch nodded, sighing to himself sadly. "How do you feel about that?"

"Honestly? Happy, but sad. He couldn't control it. He didn't mean to hurt me."

Scott faced a year-long trial after the events that occurred in the questioning room. He accepted every consequence he faced, especially when he plead guilty while at court. He didn't defend himself when Mitch's lawyer spoke, knowing he deserved this. Sure, he didn't know of his actions, but that did not excuse anything he did.

"I still can't believe he was almost convicted of Kirstie's death."

Mitch shivered, his heart beating quickly at the name of his assailant. *Kirstie brought the knife down, only for Scott to run. When that happened, Kirstie tripped over his leg and fell, the knife in her hand. The knife fell in her side, with Scott next to her. The young man gasped, taking the knife out of her side and...

Well, the rest is history.

"I can't wait for him to come out." Mitch murmured quietly, looking at his feet. Alex nodded, asking himself one question when Mitch answered it. "The doctor said I have five years if I quit treatment."

"That's...good, I guess?" Alex asked, feeling his heart break more. Mitch chose to continue treatment, but the medicine made him weak, tired, and lethargic, a life Mitch didn't deserve. "How does Beau feel?"

"He's...saying I should do whatever makes me the happiest. Thing is, he makes me the happiest so I don't know what to do." Mitch answered honestly, getting a nod in response. "Quitting treatment will give me the life I deserve, you know? No more shots, no more people making decisions for me. It's about me now."

"Just be you and choose whatever makes you feel the happiest. Think of you in this moment, no one else."

Mitch blushed, smiling sadly as he stared at Alex. It's moments like these when he wondered why they broke up. They never truly dated anyway, but he felt feelings for this boy. Maybe it's the fact that he loved him when he was broken. Maybe Alex was the drug that made him high with injecting a needle in his arm. Maybe...

Maybe he gave him the love he didn't have when he was fighting.

"I love you, Alex. I always will. Thank you for being there."

Alex kissed Mitch on the cheek once more, both of them knowing that it was far from a friendly kiss. They both loved each other so much, but they both knew they only loved each other because of Mitch's hurt.

"I've got to go now. Mario and I are going to sing at a school." Mitch spoke up, standing up carefully so his leg wouldn't make him fall. He smiled at Alex once more, his heart beating fast. "Bye, Alex."

"Bye, Mitch."

Mitch walked off one last time, along with Alex letting go of loving the beautiful man. Maybe they would love each other in another life. Maybe, just maybe, there will a chance for them. Alex smiled as he stood up, walking in the opposite direction. He didn't know where he was going, but somehow, he ended up at his dad's office. Well, former. James moved a bigger and better office, one that paid more, but Alex would always loved this one.

Why?

It's where he met his tramutized love.
