Lucie followed Mrs.Lucas inside. "This place will take some getting used to, little one, but remember. You are here to get help." She said. Lucie looked up at her. Just what did this women who she had never seen before know about her? But, she'd worry about it later. Mrs.Lucas lead her down a hall with several rooms B1, B2, B3, B4, and they stopped at B5. "This is your room." She opened the door. Lucie peered inside. First thing she saw was a boy with a sketchpad, wearing earbuds and singing along to a song that she was pretty sure in Spanish, but then again she only know the most basics of Spanish (hi, bye, let's go, the things you hear in Dora, etc) so she wasn't 100% sure. "Karma!" Mrs.Lucas yelled, probably to get his attention. He jumped a bit and paused his music. "Yes, Mrs.Lucas?" He said. "You're roommate has arrived. Help her get her things out of her backpack and then show her to the dining hall for breakfast." She said and then walked away.

Karma got up and walked over towards Lucie. He had dark brown , almost black , hair and his eyes were the same. He had slightly tan skin."Hey, I'm Carlos. Or as people call me, Karma. What's your name?" He said in cheerful yet calming tone of voice. "Lucie. With an I and an E at the end. Not a Y." She awkwardly smiled at Karma. She set her bag down. "So uh..breakfast?"

"Yeah, just follow me to the dining hall. It's not too far from here." He said and led out into the hall. It was around 8am and the sun was slowly getting higher. It was a mostly cloudless day and the outside just looked so majestic to Lucie. Ironic she grew up in a cult surrounding many dark things and yet she had a name meaning light. She walked into the dining room and just followed Karma the entire time. He sat down at a table with two other people after they finished getting their food whereas Lucie retreated to an empty table in the corner. She looked around the room. Maybe she'd see somebody familiar. Maybe she'd see Laura. The more she looked the more hopeless became.

She ate maybe two bites of her food before pushing it away. After breakfast finished, a girl approached her. This girl appeared to be in her late teens , about sixteen or seventeen. "Hey there, I was assigned to be your tour guide, so to speak. So shall we begin?" She said and Lucie nodded and got up.

The two girls walked into the hall. "So, I should introduce myself. My name is Amara Charleston, or just Amari. How about you?" Amari said. "Lucie. With IE at the end, not Y. And my last name is David. At least I'm pretty sure that's my last name." She smiled. "What's your trauma? But then again, you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." Amari smiled gently.

"Oh uh...trauma. Right. I escaped from a cult. I'm pretty sure it was satanic. But I'm not really sure. Uh...you?"

"My parents trained, tortured and drugged me. That much I know. I've lost most my memories and they came back at random times. That tends to trigger a panic attack. So if that happens, apologies in advance. Where you from?"

"Canada. I think the cult was located just outside...Toronto. And once again, you?"

"Puerto Rico. I'm pretty sure. But I feel we're getting a bit side tracked. Enough with this pointless exposition, let's get on with the tour." Amari said.

"Did you just break the fourth wall?"

"ON WITH THE TOUR YOUNG ONE! The room we just left was the dining hall. It's not too big, just big enough to seat as many people as this place can hold. Which is up to fifty people."

*insert rest of the tour because Char is lazy*

The girls sat in the little bench in the garden and looked out towards the playground. "The youngest person here is eleven. Her name is Callie Callahan. And when I tell you she went through some shit." Amari said. Lucie nodded. "I'd love to meet her." She then turned her attention back towards the playground. She noticed a redhead girl. Kinda looked like Eliza, a girl she had know back at the cult, but they looked different enough. "See the redhead girl? That's Violet Hanson. Her situation was pretty similar to Callie's." More exposition brought to you by Amari. "Anyway, I'll be heading back to my room. Mine is B9, if you ever want to stop by and say hi to me or my roommate, Abigail, who you'll probably meet later." She got up and went back inside.

Lucie skimmed the playground. Maybe , just maybe , she'd see Laura. She scanned around for thirty seconds or so before a blonde girl came out from behind on of the slides. She saw her face clearly. Before Lucie could even think for a second, she got up and started running towards the blonde. "Laura! Laura!" She yelled. The blonde saw Lucie practically charging at her and ran the other way, towards another girl. "Laura?" Her voice was low.

(when characters speak in foreign languages I'm using google translate so don't come for me if it's not accurate)

"Alexis, c'est qui?" (Alexis, who's that?) The blonde asked the other girl. "Je ne suis pas sûr, Callie." (I'm not sure, Callie.) The other girl replied. The other girl then spoke to Lucie in perfect English. "Hi, I'm Alexis. Alexis Pinnock. And this isn't Laura. Her name is Callie. And you are?" She said kindly. "Oh...I'm Lucie. I'm sorry, Callie. I mistook you for someone else." Lucie mumbled. "Can Callie speak or understand English?"

"She can but prefers to speak her native French."

"Okay uh...see you around I guess." With that, Lucie walked off. "God, I'm so stupid." She whispered to herself. She began walking towards the direction of the library. Maybe reading...or pretending to read...would be good or something. She was mostly illiterate so she'd probably just flip through the pages.

She pushed opened the door and breathed in the old book smell. She looked around and saw Three other people. Two brunettes , one male, one female, and the redhead she had seen at the playground, Violet. She went up to the shelves and picked a book at random, opening it up to the middle. She stared at the page for several minute before being approached by the male brunette. "Olá, meu nome é Adriano." She looked up at him, with a face showing she didn't understand a word he had just said. "Oh, sorry." He said. "Hello, my name is Adriano." Lucie noticed he had a Portuguese accent. Not a very thick one, but it was rather obvious. "I'm Lucie. IE, at the end. Not a Y."

"Oh, that was my sister's name. But her's had a Y at the end." His face became sad. "Damn, I miss her. But this isn't about me. Anyway, I hope to see you around. I have to get going to art class." He called over to Violet and she got up and walked with him. "Bye-bye, Lucie with IE at the end." The two left the library. Lucie smiled and waved at the two as they left. She considered talking to to the brunette but decided against it and went to back to her room.

She opened the door to see Karma wasn't there. She sighed gratefully and threw herself onto the bed. She just kinda sat there staring up at the ceiling, thinking about nothing in particular. Her mind shifted from one thing to the next. Her friends from back at the cult, how similar Laura and Callie looked, what the rest of the world was like.

Time skip to dinner because Char is lazy.

Lucie sat a table that had Amari, Karma, Callie and Alexis at it. She didn't bother to make conversation with any of them though. After dinner, she walked around "What was her room number again? B...B...B9!" She whispered to herself as she walked down the hall. She stopped in front of Amari's door and knocked gently. After a few seconds, someone with short black hair opened the door. They had a feminine face but the rest of they're body was more male presenting. "Hello? Can I help you?" They said. They had a very distinct Scottish accent. It was thick but not too thick to the point where she couldn't understand them.

"Uh...Amari. I'm here to talk to Amari for a bit."

"Oh, yeah. She's in the shower but she'll be out in a minute. I'm her roommate, Abigail. She/her. Those are my pronouns. Uh...anyway, come in." Abigail said and opened the door wider, welcoming Lucie in. She went and sat on Amari's bed, just as Amari came out. "Hey Lucie." She said, her hair still dripping slightly. "I see you've meet Abigail." Lucie nodded. "Uh...can I talk to you for a bit?" The younger girl said. "Sure, yeah, of course." She said and sat down. "What's up, frito pequeño?"

"Frito pequeño?" Lucie said slowly, very clearly confused. "Right, sorry, it's Spanish for small fry." Amari said and Lucie nodded.

(remember I used google translate so apologies if it's not accurate)

"Anyway, I don't really feel like I fit in here. I'm well aware of how stupid that sounds, since fitting in isn't all too important in this place. It's more about getting the help you need for what you've experienced. But I at least want people to like me." Lucie sighed. "Okay, listen kid. I like you, Abby likes you, - you like her, right Abby?"

Abigail nodded and Amari resumed talking. "Have you met anyone else?" She asked and Lucie nodded. "Adriano. In the library." She decided to not mention Alexis and Callie, as she didn't want to mention Laura to anyone at the time. "Oh, yeah. Between you and me -- and Abigail -- he's a bit too sweet. Trust me, me and the guy are friends I'm just a bit worried he'll get hurt, y'know?" The older girl said as the younger nodded. At the moment, the door opened and Mrs.Lucas stepped inside. "Amari, Abigail, lights out. And Lucie, please come with me back to your room." Mrs.Lucas still had that smile on her face. The smile that made Lucie feel both eased and uneased.

"Okay, talk to you tomorrow Amari." Lucie said and followed Mrs.Lucas back to her room. She noticed Karma , already dead asleep , and walked over to her side of the room. She pulled the cord to her lamp and fell asleep almost instantly. Bet you wish you could do that, don't you, you sad, son of a bitch?
