Chapter 4: Unexpected visit
Ashley's POV
"What are you doing in here!" Tristan yelled.
Tristan glared at me, his eyes squint as he stared daggers into my soul. I noticed as his face flashed red.
He was completely naked! 'Beautifully naked,' A voice in my head added.
I turned away, squinting my eyes as I wished myself out of here, maybe if I tried hard enough, I would magically disappear from this situation.
I was now truly trapped, my face facing the wall as the water continued to pour. I didn't have the guts to close that tap.
And then the water stopped. I knew right at that moment that it was now time to face him.
I slowly turned around to face him, my hair dripping wet and my uniform now sticking to my body.
I looked up for a second before returning my eyes to the ground.
He had now wrapped a towel around his waist, bare chest and perfect muscles.
He was still glaring at me; his anger was probably building up.
Like a school child, I stood there with my hands held together. Waiting for my punishment.
"What are you doing," He repeated. This time his voice was more threatening and demanding.
My brain froze, I didn't know what to do or what to say.
I imagined the different possibilities that would result from this conversation, none of them were good. Getting fired was the least of my worries and probably inevitable, I'm sure he would ruin me and the little reputation that I had.
"I'm sorry sir," I finally managed to speak.
With my head down, that didn't sound very convincing. I should at least gather up the carriage to look at him, maybe I could appeal to his better nature.
Or wait, he doesn't like people maintaining eye contact with him, does he? I remembered all the horrific stories Sandra and her friends said.
"Look me in the eye when I'm talking to you." He demanded.
Frightened, I quickly looked up and then at the floor again.
Was this a trick?
Maybe I was overthinking things, it was clear that whatever Sandra and her friends had said was true.
"I'm really sorry sir, I was told not to disturb and to leave before you arrived. When you arrived, I got scared so I hid." I explained.
His anger was now replaced with confusion.
"What am I, some kind of monster that you have to ride from?" He questioned.
"Everyone thinks you are scary sir," I answered.
I hadn't realized that I had said it out loud. I was shaking, I didn't know if it was from fear or that my clothes were completely wet.
I think for a second I saw him smile.
"What were you going to wait until I was asleep?" He said sarcastically.
'That was the idea,' I wanted to say.
"So, you couldn't have just left through the door like a normal person." He continued.
He was completely right; I had just made a complete fool of myself for nothing.
Leaving then would have been a lot less trouble than this situation I was in right now.
But wait, where was this conversation going? Was he just prolonging when he was going to fire me?
"Please sir, I'm really sorry sir." I pleaded. "I didn't mean for any of that to happen." I continued to rumble.
Tristan sighed stepped away then walked out of the bathroom.
I know what he was going to do, he was probably going to call Marcus and tell him to fire me.
I followed him out of the bathroom, leaving behind a trail of water.
He took his phone from the counter, dialing a number.
"Please sir, don't fire me," I begged.
"Do you really have any idea of what you have done, what if this was any of the other guests? Should I just let you go then?" He questioned.
Once again, he had a point. But this wasn't about how right he was, I needed this job.
"Please sir, I promise you that nothing like this has ever happened. You can ask anyone, I'm the best employee they have here, and I always do my job to the best of my ability." Tears whelmed up in my eyes. "My mom recently broke her leg, and they fired her from her job. I have a little sister who depends on me. We are so deep into debt that I don't even know how we are going to get out of it." I sobbed.
By now I was now in complete tears.
He was now looking at me like a crazy person.
The truth is, I haven't been able to vent to anyone in a long time. He now knew a lot more about me than most people did.
He held his hands at his temple.
I had almost forgotten he was drunk, if he was this rational while drunk, I can't imagine how he was when he was sober. With him this drunk, what are the chances of him forgetting any of this ever happened?
"You and your pathetic life are giving me a headache right now," He spoke holding his hand on his forehead. "I need you to leave right now." He continued.
He dropped his phone.
Did he say he wanted me to leave? He didn't say I was fired or anything.
No, I was misinterpreting this, he probably meant that he wanted me to leave and never see me again. In other words, I was fired.
"Please sir, don't fire me." I continued to beg.
My tears had blended in with the water dripping from my wet hair.
He sighed, stepping out of the bedroom.
I continued to follow behind him.
I stopped in my tracks after he had stopped by in the living room.
"Do I have to open the door for you to leave?" He sighed.
"Please sir," I continued. "Don't fire me," I begged.
"I'm not firing you!" He shouted. "I just want you to get out so I can take a shower without thinking that a crazy woman is probably watching me," He spoke.
A smile grew on my face. I could keep my job, I thought this would surely be the end of my job, but it wasn't.
He gestured for the door, as I stood there dumbfounded just staring at him.
Maybe I had just completely misjudged him, he wasn't that bad after all.
He held the door handle opening the door.
The person standing at the door knocked on my core.
Waylen stood there, his hand fisted. Glaring at the two of us in anger.
I stared at him dumbfounded.
How did he get in here? How did he get past all that security? How did he know where I was?
So many things didn't make sense. I didn't think he was serious when he said he would come here.
Tristan looked at Waylen as he waited on me to leave.
"I didn't order any room service," Tristan spoke dismissing Waylen.
"Waylen," I finally managed to say.
Waylen stared at me; I noticed the anger build up in his eyes.
"I knew it was true," Waylen spoke eyeing Tristin and me.
"Who are you?" Tristan spoke. "I didn't ask for any unwanted guests," he added.
Waylen continued staring at us.
He pushed the door wider, allowing himself in. Tristan, who was super drunk, didn't manage to react on time.
If the previous incident didn't get me fired, this surely will.
"Waylen what are you doing here?" I asked.
I stepped in front of Waylen, trying to hold his arm so I could walk him out of here.
He quickly shoved my hand away.
"You wanted all of this, is this why you left me?" Waylen spoke. "This is why you left me, for this rich guy!" he yelled. "I thought you were different Ashley. I fought the world for you when everyone said we wouldn't last because I was going out of my league," he added in a whisper.
Tristan was just confused, barely able to keep up in his drunken state.
"Nothing is going on here," I answered.
That just furthered his anger.
"Don't try to fool me!" Waylen yelled. "What? Did you two just get out of the shower now, did you get it on?" He continued.
I examined myself to see that I was drenched. Having Tristan walk around with a towel around his waist must have made the scene very convincing.
"You know Ashley, when you said you weren't ready, I waited for you. I didn't think it was because you were getting it on with this guy." He spoke.
"Trust me, if anything had happened between us her clothes would have been off by now," Tristan interjected.
My jaw widened in shock.
I'd like to think that it was probably just the alcohol talking.
The most unexpected thing happened next.
Waylen fisted his hand before blowing a punch right into Tristan's face.
Tristan didn't get the time to react.
I watched as he fell to the ground, further hitting his head on the marble floor.
Waylen smirked and he relaxed his hand to ease the pain in his knuckles.
Tristan lay there on the ground, completely unresponsive.
"You killed him!" I exclaimed.
