The Deal
WARNING!!!
This MAY reach the FEELING'S area. As recently, I have become more evil. Blame all the dark Fanfiction I've been reading.
*Looks to Kit and Ari.*
Yeah, I'm looking at you.
I'm not as evil as them.
But I'm getting there...
EvilFangirlForevz
Although I doubt it's that bad.
It shouldn't be too evil...
-Robin's P.O.V.-
Slade somehow, - I don't know, I'm guessing he hacked the system, zeta beamed us away. I didn't know where he beamed us, but frankly I wasn't a fan of it.
"Would you let me go already?!" I shouted, still fighting uselessly against him. I was thrown into a black car. Okay, this confused me. Why didn't he just knock me out first?
I'm pretty sure it was a limo actually, as it even had a little walking space.
"What the hell's going on? If you were kidnapping me, you would have just knocked me out."
"That's because I'm not trying to kidnap you."
"Why did you attack the league?" I asked, as the limo started moving. My eyes were scanning for as many escape routes as possible, while watching Slade's every movement.
"They were the one's who attacked me."
Childish much?
"I wonder why!" I exclaimed. Time to get serious. "What's your endgame, Slade?"
"I would tell you but you've already figured it out. It barely even took you a day to figure out my motives. That just proves how smart you are."
"Well it wasn't hard. You gave me all the answers I needed."
"Not all. You had already subconsciously worked out some of the answers without realizing it."
"And how would you know?"
"Simple. I've been keeping an eye on you."
"You've been keeping an eye on me?!" I repeated, narrowing my eyes.
"Just like your mentor has."
"What? Of course he's been keeping an eye on me! He's my-" I started.
"Through cameras." Slade interrupted. I stopped. Batman wouldn't do that... Would he?
"Batman wouldn't do that! He..." I trailed off. The more I thought about it...
Batman would try to put hidden cameras in my room so he could spy on me. He's done it before after all...
"You know fully well that he would, don't you Robin?" Slade asks. I opened my mouth to say something but closed it again. I wanted to say that he had the right... But he didn't. He didn't have the right to spy on me...
"Not only that, but your so-called family, limit your potential." Anger flared in me. How dare he call them that!
"So-called? How dar-" I started, but I was once again interrupted by Slade.
"What kind of big brother shoots his little brother? What kind of father constantly spies on his son? What kind of brother threatens his younger brother with swords?" Slade asked. My breath hitched in my throat.
"But those were-"
"Things of the past? If they were, then why does history keep repeating itself? Why does Batman constantly spy on you?"
Once again, I'm speechless. Why does history keep repeating itself?
"He wants to know I'm safe..."
"Is that it? Or is it because he doesn't trust you enough to protect yourself? Face it, Robin. They will always treat you like a little kid. Not unless you show them that your not the little kid they always treat you like. Otherwise you will always be their little brother."
Those familiar words rung in my head.
"You'll always be our little brother!"
-Flashback-
-The Rising of Red Hood.-
I had just caught an unconscious Batman from falling to his death. How Jason knocked him unconscious, I'll never know. I had put him down on a rooftop nearby, before jumping up onto the roof he had fell from. It also seemed like Red Hood was prepared for my arrival. I knew that as soon as I swung onto the roof, and I had heard the clicking of a gun.
"Red Hood, I-" I started, but was immediately cut off by him.
"What are you doing here, Robin?" Red Hood interrupted.
"I-I just wanted to... To talk." I said.
"Bullshit."
"No! It's not! I just wanted to talk to you!" I shouted, taking a few steps towards him. I stopped as a bullet whizzed past my ear.
"Your not my target. Not yet." Red Hood stated calmly. Fear momentarily froze me, before Confidence took over, and I continued walking towards him.
"Red Hood, Please. Come back! Everyone misses you, they-" I started.
"Don't you dare! If your trying to guilt trip me, your failing." Red Hood Interrupted.
"Red Hood!" I shouted, taking another step towards him. But then, the clicking sound of a gun, then the Loud Bang! Echoed in my ears, as I fell to the ground. I winced from the pain. I took a shaky breath, looking up, ignoring the bullet in my leg.
"Do you feel better now?" I asked.
"What?"
"You shot me... Do you feel better now? If it helps, you can shoot me again."
"Tch! What the hell are you doing?" Red Hood shouted.
"Red Hood... No, Jason, please you have to come back!" I begged. I was never one to beg, but I'd make an exception.
"And why the hell would I do that?!"
"Because! Their your family! We're your family!"
"Don't screw with me! They replaced me!"
"They didn't replace you! They would never!"
"Then why was someone else, pretending to be me?! Someone took my place, and they did nothing to stop it! Hell, they even stood alongside him! I saw it with my own eyes!" Red Hood screamed.
"Your right! But if you want to blame anyone, blame me! I was the one pretending to be you!" I shouted.
"What? You?!" Red Hood raged, before a bullet slammed into my shoulder. I let out a little pained scream this time, not being able to hold it back.
"I didn't do it to replace you! I did it to continue your legacy!" I shouted, this time looking at his mask with a pained face. I was losing so much blood... Black spots danced in my vision but I refused to let them win, and instead I willed myself to stay awake.
"Continue my legacy? What legacy?" Red Hood demanded.
"Don't you see it? You keep the thugs in line! Ever since you came around, less drug exchanges were taking place, less people trying to steal purses or even rape people. Ever since you came around, less thugs were showing up! They caught word that you were dead, and their numbers increased! Batman didn't even know what to do! I figured if they thought you were still alive, your legacy... Could be continued, and they'd stop showing up! So if you want to blame anyone, blame me! Shoot me as much as you like! Take out all your anger on me, but please! You have to forgive everyone else..." I explained, not bothering to hide the emotions in my voice. Red Hood lowered his gun and walked over to me. I closed my eyes, and lowered my head, and waited to die. Usually I wouldn't just give up like this, but he was family, and I was the one who caused him so much pain. What I didn't expect however, was to hear a thud. My head shot up and I stared at Jason kneeling over me, his Red mask rolling away. For a second, I thought Damian had just silently killed him... A tear ran down his cheek as he openly stared at me.
"Your an idiot, you know that?" He asked.
"I learnt from the best." I laughed. Jason picked up my head, and pulled me into his lap.
"I almost killed you. I almost killed my little brother..."
"Little... Brother? So, you... Forgive me?" I asked.
"Still getting there. But close enough." He chuckled, a smile finally on his face.
"You'll always be our Little brother... Won't you?" Jason chuckled. I laughed slightly, but winced when he put pressure on the bullet wound in my shoulder to try slow down the bleeding.
"I don't think I have a choice in the matter. Do I?"
"Nope. Not at all. No matter how old you get, you'll always be younger. No matter what..."
-End Of Flashback-
-Wasn't as high in the feelings area as I thought... Oh well...-
-Present time-
*Still with Slade. Robin's P.O.V.*
-_-
You'll always be younger. No matter what...
No matter what...? No matter what I'll always be younger. I'll always be treated as inferior.
"You know what I think? They limit your potential." Slade interrupted my thoughts. I looked up to face him.
"Limit my potential...?" I asked. I knew I shouldn't be listening to him, but... Everything he said was true. It's almost as if what he says is helping me find out who I am...
No! I won't listen to this man! But still... I am curious as to what he has to say...
"Think about it. Batman always sends you after the henchmen, while he handles the main villain. He puts you up again the weakest. And even then, you barely get to do much, as one of your 'brother's' are always there to help." Slade explained. Now that I think about it... Their always there. Even when I go up against the henchmen, one of them shows up, and I only get to knock out two or three people. Then if something major happens, I get sent home.
"You know exactly what I mean. Don't you?" Slade asked. Before I could even stop myself, I found myself nodding. I scowled. There's no way in hell I'm listening to him!
"No! No matter what, I'm not listening to you!" I shouted. I pulled the lever of the door handle back, and pushed myself out. I slammed the door shut, and ran into the nearest ally.
Escape: Success.
I continued running, taking random turns. Figuring I was far enough, I stopped. Even though I had to, as I had reached a dead and. I pulled out my holo-glove. I was met with static.
"What?" I murmured, as I tried to figure out what was wrong with it.
"Don't bother. It's fried." Slade said from behind me. I gasped and spun around.
"The car had a purpose. It admitted a special EMP that fried any technology inside it. Even when it's no longer near. In other words, your holo-glove is useless now. As is anything other technology you have. Including any type of tracker. Also meaning the league won't be finding you anytime soon." Slade explained. I took a step back, fear clenching my heart. Crap. The league won't be finding me any time soon, I had no technology, and as much as I hate to admit it, this guy was more powerful then me. He took out my team, Batman, Hood, and Nightwing. I don't stand a chance against him. But then, memories of what he did to my friends, my family resurfaced in my mind. I was furious. Rage blocked my mind, and all reason had been thrown out the window. I launched my fist at Slade, wanting nothing more than to destroy him for the pain he's caused my friends. He'll pay for it...
Slade easily caught my fist. My body was shaking with rage, as his arm shook from me still trying to push his arm back.
"What did you do to my friends?" I growled, my face contorted in rage.
"That's a good thing you brought that up actually."
"Good thing I brought it up?!" I repeated, venom seeping through my words.
"I'm pretty sure you've noticed, but this time my job, was a little more... Messy..." Slade mused. My anger rose to a new extreme and I was able to push his arm back a little. I swung my other fist at him, but my attack was easily avoided as he caught it. The next thing I know, I was swung around, my face painfully collided with the brick wall. I was dizzy and lightheaded for a moment before it went away. I shook my head, clearing any more dizziness and turning my head to look at Slade, a scowl evident on my face. The familiar feeling of my arms being twisted behind my back was clear again.
"What did you do?" I growled.
"I knew it would take a little more... Convincing... For you to come with me. So I took the liberty of injecting nanobots into their systems. Hence why this time they were bleeding. Even Superboy. The bullet had a nano structure inside of it, that automatically releases the nanobots into him." Slade explained. I paled. There was no way...
"Your bluffing..." I said, although my voice betrayed me, making me sound unsure.
"Am I, Robin? You've seen what I can do. Do you honestly doubt that I couldn't do that?" Slade questioned. Pretty sure I was as pale as a ghost. I turned my head back to the wall, resting my forehead on it. Sweat ran down my head as I thought about it, and from the burning from my arms. As much as I wanted to say he's lying... I knew it was true. Silence passed us for a few minutes before I sighed.
"No."
"That's what I thought. Of course, if that wasn't enough, I'm sure every villain on the planet would love to know the identities of the league. Even if they don't mind their identities being known... Wouldn't it also put their loved ones in danger?"
"Yes..." I grit my teeth.
"The choice is up to you now Robin. Will you protect them? Or will you run away?" Slade challenges.
"I'm not going to run away." I answered immediately.
"You may not be running from me, but you are running from them." Slade stated. My breath hitched. No matter which side I chose, I'd still be running. I'd be running from them to protect them. But if I ran from Slade, I'd be running because I was scared, like a scared little kid.
"There's a difference." I stated.
"And what would that be?"
"I'd be running from them to protect them. Not because I'm a scared little kid." I said bitterly.
"Very good Robin. Even if you did go back to them, they'd just treat you like a little kid more then before. They won't let you have your privacy. Constantly following you, constantly being by your side, always asking if your okay, checking up on you every few minutes, Because they think you can't take care of yourself. But I know for a fact, that you could easily take down some of their strongest members."
"I'm not that strong." I said.
"You could be. But the league constantly limits your potential. Sending you only after the henchmen. Or that junior Justice league of yours. Nothing but covert. To stay in the shadows, watch, and do nothing. The perfect way to limit your potential." Slade continued. He released his grip on my arms and stepped back. But I didn't move. I put a little distance between me and the wall, but I didn't make any other movement, instead I just stared at the dirty floor. My heart was beating painfully in my chest. Almost like my heart was broken. Torn in two. I knew what he said was right, but I didn't want to admit it, because what they're my family.
"Your Junior Justice League is a joke."
"Get on board, or get out of the way!"
"We didn't come for a play date."
"How are we ever supposed to be ready?"
"They never let us do anything!"
"Why bother teach us?"
"Why should be let them tell us what to do?"
"Just like that, we're a team on a mission."
"They don't trust us to do anything!"
"How are we ever supposed to be ready, when they treat us like... Like sidekicks?!"
"This team needs a leader!"
"And it's you?! Dude, Your a thirteen year old kid, who ducked out on us without a word."
"On our own, we forge something powerful, important."
"The league thinks they have a solution for everything!"
"Pass. I'm done letting Arrow and the league tell me what to do."
"Who am I kidding? You should lead us Kaldurr. Your the only one who can."
"We're in for the fight of our lives."
"Maybe so. But we're not ready to die!"
"Just you Boy Wonder? I must say, I'm underwhelmed."
"Get traught, or get Dead!"
"Stay out of this. It's league business."
"If we catch you meddling with league business again... No more Robin. No more of the team."
"At least we got the job done! We did what you couldn't!"
"We stand ready."
"Ready for what?! They never let us do anything!'
I hadn't realized it at the time, but when I snapped out of my thoughts, my fist was hurting. That's when I realized I had punched the wall with everything I had.
"What?" I murmured, pulling my fist back from the little crater I had created.
"You punched the wall." Slade stated from behind me. I spun around, completely forgotten about Slade's existence.
"You were in thought for quite a long time. What were you thinking of?" Slade asked, as he pushed himself off the wall he was leaning on.
"What I was thinking about was none of your concern."
"I beg to differ. Anyways back to the matter at hand. Your friends."
My head snapped up, before lowering again, leaving me to stare at the floor.
"What do the nanobots do once their activated?" I asked.
"It slowly kills them. Destroys their blood cells. Posions them. Each set were specially made. For Speedesters, Kryptonitians, Martians, Atlantians, Humans. Even meta."
"You've thought of everything... Haven't you?"
"I tend to think ahead."
"Clearly..." I muttered. "I don't have much of choice do I?"
"Not unless you want your friends and family to die."
There was Silence for a couple of minutes while I tried to think of a way out of this. Until Spade broke the silence.
"And if you even think about trying to leave a hint or message..."
"The identities, I know." I interrupted.
There really is no way out.
"Fine. I'll go with you. But the league will figure out your plans." I said. Slade chuckled, sending shivers down my spine.
"If they ever find out my plans. But I doubt that."
"They'll find out who you are!"
"With what information exactly? You didn't tell anyone anything about me. All they know about me is what I wear. They won't find much about me. Just like you didn't."
"How..."
"That is not of importance. Now then. Let's go." Slade said before walking off. I stood there. He stopped and turned his head around.
"Unless you want your friends to die."
I scowled and followed after him.
I'm sorry guys...I hope you can forgive me...
Or at least find me soon.
I walked into the shadows, after Slade. Into the darkness. Leaving everything I hold dear behind me.
