SCREWED!
---Dick's P.O.V.----
I backed up against the fence, pretending to be terrified, which actually I kind of was. Only slightly. I could barely handle this guy when I had weapons, but now that i'm Dick Grayson, I'm defenseless, not supposed to know how to fight, still recovering from injuries, and i'm supposed to be on vacation in another country. I think. How long was it supposed to last?
The drunken men were thrown put the alley, one of them going through a car window.
The man turned to face me, and I pushed myself into the fence, hoping it could swallow me. Although I acted scared, I wasn't that scared to be honest. Slightly, yes, but not too much. He narrowed his eye at me.
Forget that! I'm screwed!
Okay, I admit, I'm terrified.
Completely and utterly, screwed.
"Wh-Who are yo-you?" I stuttered.
"You don't need to pretend Robin." He said. I froze.
"Wha-What? What are you talking about? I'm not..." I trailed off.
"Like I said, no need to pretend I already knew your identity for a while now."
I'll say it again.
SCREWED!
S-C-R-E-W-E-D!
"Uh... Bu-but... I'm not... I'm..."
I'm screwed that's what. I don't even have time to blink as he charges towards me, grabs my hand, spins me around, and my chest slams into the fence, also pinning my good arm to my side. I could feel the back of my top being lifted up.
"Now this looks familiar, doesn't it?" He asks.
"Uhh... That's..." I mutter, turning my head to look at him, then my back. Totally screwed.
"My brother's a psychopath!" I shouted.
It's not entirely a lie. I mean, he is kind of a psycho. Damian chases Jason with a sword while Jason shoots at him.
Not a complete lie.
They are psycho's.
A metal hand pushes at the slash on my back, putting pressure on it. I gasp, as pain erupts from it.
"Please do enlighten me at how you psycho brother did this?"
"Uhh... With a knife?"
The man sighed.
"Really? That is the best you could come up with Robin?" He asks smoothly, before pushing his hand deeper in the cut, breaking one of the stitches.
OWWW!
Dammit! Suppose there's no point in trying to hide it now.
"Alright fine! So you know who I am. Congratulations! Who are you? And how did you find out?" I ask, through gritted teeth as another two stitches come undone. I can feel a bit of blood trickling down my cold back.
Alfred's gonna kill me for breaking the stitches. Well, if this guy doesn't.
"I suppose it's about time you got some answers. My name is Slade." The man said.
Slade... Doesn't ring a bell.
"Never heard of you."
"Understandable. I like to keep a low profile." Slade said.
"What do you want Slade?" I growl.
"I'm looking for something..."
"Whatever it is, your not getting it!"
"You really are like Batman..." He mutters.
I knew it!
I so knew it!
"What do you want with Batman?" I growled.
"Not everything is about Batman."
"Such a liar. I'm not an idiot."
"Apparently you are, because I just said I have no business with Batman."
"Yeah, I've heard that one before."
He doesn't reply, but instead another stitch snaps in response to him pushing his hand deeper into the cut.
"What do you want?"
"I'm looking for an apprentice." Slade answered.
"An apprentice? Why?"
"What are apprentices for Robin?"
"Right. Dumb question. Okay then, Why are you attacking me?"
Another stitch snaps. I admit. That was an even dumber question.
"Okay! Why me?"
"Better question. I've had many men practically throw themselves at my feet, none of them interested me in the slightest. But then a 13 year old kid, gets my attention without even trying."
"Well, I wasn't trying to get your attention..." I muttered.
And I don't want it either. Slade chuckles.
"Another thing. Don't apprentices have to be willing to learn?"
"By the time I'm done I'm sure you'll be more then willing."
"Now its your turn to enlighten me." I mocked.
"I have my ways."
"Like?"
"Tell me. How is Superman?"
"Wha-What? Superman? Why do you care about Superman?"
Did Lex hire this clown?
"Or should I say Clark Kent?"
WHAT?!?!
"What did you just say?"
"How is Superman? AKA Clark Kent? And what of Green Arrow? It was Oliver Queen, I believe?" He asked.
How the hell...
"Ho-How..."
"Once you find out Batman's identity, finding out the rest of the league's isn't as hard."
This guy has got to go down.
My leg swung out, and kicked Slade in the knee, making him stumble back. I immediately took the chance to attack him, and I spun around aiming a punch straight for him. He easily grabs my wrist and spins me back around again, pushing me down to my knees.
Well... That went well. Both of my arms are twisted painfully behind my back, preventing me from moving in any way.
"Oh, and Robin?"
"What?" I spat.
"Don't tell Batmam anything about me. Otherwise the world will know the league more then before." Slade threatened.
"How much do you know?" I growl.
"Superman. Green Arrow. Flash, AKA Barry Allen. Wally West AKA Kid Flash. Batman is Bruce Wayne along with his adoptive children such as Jason, and Tim, Red Hood and Red X. Need I go on?"
This is bad. This is really bad.
"You gotta be kidding me... You know the whole league?"
There's no point in denying it. He'll just state some proof like it was nothing.
"Pretty easy. Superman was probably the easiest. He hides his identity with simple glasses."
He makes a very good point.
"I'll be sure to tell him." I grunt, as my arms are twisted more painfully.
"Like I just said. You won't be telling anyone. I have many types of Blackmail I could use against you to make you keep quiet. Do you really want to have more reasons?" Slade asks. I thought about it for a minute. Do I want to be blackmailed more? No. No I do not. This guy knows the whole league! Well, I'm guessing. He hasn't said the whole league, but he does know a lot of them. If I tell them then I endanger them...
This is my problem. I'll sort it out myself. I don't need the league babying me. I can handle myself. I know I can't face him as I am now, but that just gives me a reason to get even stronger then before and work harder. I'll handle this myself. It's get traught or get dead.
Time to get traught.
"Fine. I won't tell the league. They'll figure it out by themselves." I say.
"By the time they figure it out, it'll be too late."
"Too late... For what?"
"Patience Robin."
"I'm not a patient person!" I shouted.
"So I've heard."
I begin to struggle, desperately trying to get out of his hold.
"The league will stop you! I can tell you that much!" I shout, trying to push myself up and pull my arms back to my side.
"The league will fall."
"Oh, and your gonna stop them? You can't handle the league! Not even your that strong!"
"I may not be able to take down the league by myself, but they can't face me in public without revealing their identities."
Two thuds sounded behind me, and I stopped struggling and looked behind me. My heart skipped a beat as I looked at an angry Batman and a pissed off Red Hood.
"Yes!" I exclaimed, but was immediately cut off as my arms were once again twisted. I was fairly sure they were already dislocated.
"Let the boy go." Batman stated, trying to hide his anger but failing slightly.
"Hello Bruce, and Jason. Or was it Damian? I always get confused between the two... " Slade mused. I bet he didn't even get confused between the two!
Stupid little...
Batman turns his head to look at me slightly, to which I try to shrug. It increases the pain for a second before it goes back to the usual burning. Since when did this become normal for me?
"You know Batman... You really should have been more careful. To most people, or even your enemies, they could notice a pattern."
"What pattern?" Bru-Batman asks.
"Its not that obvious to most I suppose. Each time the billionaire Wayne adopted a kid, another hero would show up at Batman's side. Not only that. But the Batmobile, I believe you call it? Looks quite expensive. The way I see it, Bruce adopts a kid, Batman gets a new protege, Gotham gets a new hero. Most people would believe that was just a coincidence. But Batman doesn't believe in coincidences, now does he?" Slade muses. That explains how he knew...
"Who are you?" Batman growls.
I let out a yelp as all of a sudden, I'm being pulled, the next thing I know I'm now facing Batmam and Red Hood. I blink. He's so fast.
"Who am I...? Yes, who am I indeed? Why don't you tell them Robin?"
I scowl, and stay quiet. I stiffly turn my head to look up at him. His single grey eye stares down at me, making me feel inferior. The pain increases until I feel like my arms are about to snap off. I quickly turn back to face Batman.
"He's the guy from the Mountain!" I rush, when I can no longer stand the pain. I sigh in relief as his grip loosened. Still tight so I can't get away, but less painful then before.
At this Hood's head perks up, and In a blink of an eye, two guns are being pointed at Slade. Batman scowls, looking about ready to rip out Slade's throat, and push his dead body out of the Batwing into the sun.
"You were the one who hurt my little brother?" Hood growls, venom and hatred seeping from his words. I've seen Hood incredibly mad before, But this is his maddest. And he's shot me before. But in all fairness that was after he came back from the dead. I'll tell you about that some other day.
"I wouldn't shoot if I were you." Slade warns. "Wouldn't want to shot your precious little brother."
I hate him so much. I seriously hate Slade. More now then before. If that's even possible.
"If it makes you feel any better, he fought a lot better than I thought he would. He far by exceed my expectations."
"You had expectations?" Batman growls.
"I have expectations for everyone's skills. Including you. Lets see if you live up those expectations, or exceed them."
All of a sudden, I'm being slammed against a wall, my head smashing painfully against the concrete. The ringing in my ears is back, and the gloomy sky is blurry. I can hear gunshots around me, but they're so distant, I can't even pinpoint where they're coming from. They sound so far away...
Something sticky and warm is surrounding my head and sticking my hair to my face. Blood?
I feel like I'm sinking. Like I'm floating down... Black spots invade my vision, as I struggle to gain control of my body again. I feel so numb, and cold... Something tells me not to give into the darkness, but I do it anyways. Gladly welcoming the darkness, and letting it devour me.
------------------------------
Something's poking me. And so help me, if they don't stop, I'm cutting their finger off.
I snap my eyes open, but don't make an attempt to move.
"What?" I growl. Red X is hovering about me.
"Oh thank god. I thought you were dead." Red X sighs.
"Why would I be dead?" I ask.
"Your covered in blood." He simply states.
"Say what? I am?" I ask.
"Yeah."
I slowly sit up, trying to ignore the banging in my head and ringing in my ear, as I do so. I look around and what I see makes my heart stop.
Just a couple of meters away from me is Batman and Red Hood, sprawled on the ground, with Nightwing trying to wake them up. They're Covered with bruises and cuts. Unconscious. Then the memories of what happened last hit me across the head.
SLADE!
"No! No no no!" I shout, jumping forward to the closet one to me.
"Batman! Hey Batman! Wake up!" I shout, slapping his lightly bruised cheek slightly. It takes a while before he eventually groans, and pries his eyes open.
"Yes!" I exclaim, relief washing over me. Slade didn't kill him!
Wait a minute...
Slade didn't kill him.
He took down the Dark Knight and his partner, but yet he didn't kill him...
What the hell is he planning?
"Dick?" Bruce mutters.
"Thank god your awake, Batman!" I exclaim. "Nightwing! Is Hood up?"
"Yeah. Just barely." He calls back. I sigh. They may have a few cuts and bruises, but nothing too serious like me... And their not dead. I can feel a weight being lifted off my shoulders. Suddenly Bruce sits up like a rocket, making me yelp in surprise.
"Where is he?" Batman growls.
"Who?" Red X asks.
"The man who attacked Dick." Bruce explains. At this, Hood also shoots up, almost head-butting Damian in the face.
"Where is that motherfucker?! I'll kill him for what he's done!" Hood screams.
"Damn Hood! Calm down!" I shout.
"Where did he go?" Batman asks, standing up and ignoring Hood's outburst.
"Don't know." I reply.
"We just got here." Tim simply says.
"Who attacked you?" Nightwing asks.
"The man who attacked Robin at the mountain. He knows our identities." Batman states, looking at me before putting a hand on my shoulder steadying me, and examining my head.
"What?" Nightwing screams. "And we missed that sick bastard?!"
"Pretty much." Hood says. Then things got serious. "Batman, who was that guy? I've never faced anything like that before! And I've faced death." Hood asks, looking at Batman before looking at me. I shrug, pretending not to know anything.
Don't tell Batman anything about me. Otherwise the world will knew the league more then before.
"I've never seen anyone like him before... We'll talk about it later. We need to get back to the Cave. We've been compromised." Batman orders.
"We took the Batmobile... So... Yeah..." Nightwing trailed off. I rose my eyebrows at this.
"You stole the Batmobile?" I asked.
"Not exactly stole... I mean Batman wasn't answering. So we borrowed it.
"It doesn't matter now. Let's just go." Batman ordered.
"Right." Red X answered.
----------------------------
The situation didn't seem as serious as I thought it was until we got back to the Batcave. That's when all hell broke lose. Bruce told Alfred he'd had to leave the manor, and go back to England for his safety, but Alfred wasn't having that and refused. I'd have to pack my stuff because Bruce was sending me to the Mountain for my own safety. He didn't want Slade to find me, and It'd just be too obvious to hide in the manor as he knew our identities. Well, my brothers and Bruce were staying, but I had to leave. Alfred helped me pack my stuff, and made sure my belt had everything. Tim helped fix Jason's wounds, while Damian helped fix Bruce's. Batman sent an alert to the league that something had happened and he'd fill them in once we arrived. Alfred found out about my stitching coming undone, and then my brothers became volcanoes after finding out. Once Alfred made sure my new stitches would hold, I took a shower, washing off all the blood, and changing into new clothes.
But just as I had to leave, I refused, claiming I could handle myself. But they said They didn't care if I could handle myself, they wanted to know I'd be safe.
Which led to my current situation. Being dragged by my hoodie, with my arms crossed, by Red Hood towards my team and the League.
"Rob?" Wally asked.
"Hey KF." I grumbled.
"What happened?" B.C asked staring at me on the floor.
"Robin will be staying at the mountain for a while." Batman states bluntly.
"No way! That's so cool!" Sally exclaimed. I just grunted, not liking the reason why. Sure I always wanted to stay at the mountain, but still. This wasn't how I wanted it to go.
"What happened?" Green arrow asked, repeating B.C's question.
"The man who attacked Robin attacked him again. This time when he was out of costume. He knows all our identities. I'm not sure about the whole leagues, but he knows all of ours." Batman explained, gesturing to my brothers. There were a couple gasps echoing throughout the room.
"Are you okay, Robin?" M'gann asked, voicing her concerns.
"Just a couple of broken stitches." I stated, not even turning about to look at anyone.
"Robin will have to stay here until further notice for his own protection." Batman states.
I can handle myself perfectly fine. I don't need you babying me all the time.
"Any leads on who he was?" Superman asks. I stand up, grumbling slightly. This is completely unreasonable. I get their just trying to protect me, but they don't have to treat me like a kid who can't throw a punch.
"None. Not even a clue. Only that He wears a black and orange mask. Also he's an excellent fighter. Me and Red Hood took him on."
"And?"
"We lost."
Many jaws were dropped.
"Hold on! This guy, took on Batman and Red Hood, and won?!" The flash asked, clearing not believing his ears. Batman simply nodded.
"What are we up against?" Green arrow asked.
"I don't know." Batman said, then looked to me. I shrugged. I can't tell them anything...
"You know as much as I do." I simply stated.
"That explains why you didn't tell us much before..." B.C muttered. I just shrugged again. Wally sped up to me.
"Dude! Let's go get you settled in your room! We could totally have a party!" Wally exclaimed.
"Wait, Wal-" I was cut off as he grabbed my stuff and arm, and sped us through the mountain, leaving the leaguers to talk.
