Chapter Fourteen: hiking
Just as we were leaving I texted Darian letting him know where I'd be until later tonight, and maybe sleeping over again into tomorrow. He's pretty chill, and mom doesn't really care, as long as we're not getting in trouble with the law. Before dad left, he would've cared where I'd be, but now he's in Colorado with a stupid, new family, but I'm not going into that because today is going to be a good day. Ray let his parents know that we might not be home when they got back from work, and we were off.
The moment we entered the woods I felt the temperature drop what felt like twenty degrees. It was a lot darker with all the trees covering the sun too. We continued to walk further when something dawned on me.
"Jordan, do you know where you're going?" I had concern laced in my voice.
"Mhm, I've gone here before." He seemed pretty chill, so I let it go.
After about an hour of hiking, I saw a small shack in the distance. We all smiled and ran to she entrance to the structure.
"I'm not going first," I claimed. There was no way I was being the first one in there. Philip stepped in front of me.
"You can go after me, ok?" He smiled, I melted. Being at a loss of stupid English I spluttered out something that sounded like "mgerf" and nodded, blushing as Angie and Ray giggled at me. Philip chuckled and started to walk inside. I stayed close behind him, and our friends all followed behind, Angie clinging to Jordan. It was definitely creepy inside, and Ray made us all jump by setting down his bag to pull out his ghost tracker. I let out a sigh in relief and Ray muttered a quick "sorry" and we continued walking. Philip, Poppy, and Ray all went upstairs while Angie, Jordan, and I continued to look around in the first floor. I heard a leaf moving outside, and a stick crunch, which gave me the chills, so I decided to run upstairs to Philip, and my other friends. Angie and Jordan didn't care, they were pretty wrapped up in each other.
I was pretty spooked after hearing something outside, and I let out a sigh of relief, seeing my friends upstairs. Philip reassured me that it was just an animal and we continued to check out the upstairs until we were joined by Angie and Jordan. They both looked ghostly white and said they'd heard something outside. We all walked into one of the rooms that had an old, creeky bed frame in it and sat down in a circle. Just as we were convincing ourselves that it was just an animal, we all jumped, glaring at ray.
His ghost tracker has started to beep. We stared at him, and back at the small gadget sitting next to him. I glanced at Philip, his eyes popping, but his face staying straight. He glanced at me and did what looked like a tried smile, but turned out as more of a grimace. Oh gosh, we're doomed. No Christina, nothing good is going to come from FLIPPING OUT.
My heart dropped to the floor as we could all hear the wooden front door swing open and slam shut.
