Chapter Forty Six

I spent the rest of the night preparing for what we would need, but it should be fine, as long as we're back before it's totally dark outside. I texted Nat, letting her know to tell her parents, and her sisters, so they wouldn't worry. Then I got a text from her twin sister, Melbey, claiming that if anything happened to Natalie, she'd kill me, right there, and she'd hide the body so no one would know. Melbey and I were friends, and it was funny at how protective she was, especially since she knew for a fact that I would never hurt Nat. She definitely still freaked me out sometimes.

I looked out my window after working out for a while, and the sun was rising. I had to get ready to go. I went downstairs, making a type of energy drink, even though I didn't have the appetite to eat it, and drank it quickly, then running back upstairs to brush my teeth, change, and find Dad. He was already up and dressed when I walked into his room, and he gave me a sad smile. I walked back to my room, changed, and got my hiking bag that had some water, and other stuff in it. I threw on a sweatshirt, and met Dad in the car. Usually, he would have to work right now, but he took off today, to help look for Christina.

I drove to Nat's house in what felt close to silence, and filled in my dad on where we were going. Once I pulled up to Nat's house I could see her on the porch step, waiting for us to get there. She jumped up, and ran to the back door of the car. She was about 5'5, and had long, black-brown hair, that was waving down her back, mostly straight. She had deep brown eyes, and always had a natural makeup look. It wasn't a surprise that she was going to Julliard, she just fit the profile, and looked like a star. She had on a grey tank top and blue leggings, with light blue, slip on shoes, and sparkling earrings that made her eyes sparkle. She had a lot of insecurity issues that she'd struggled with through the years, but I never understood why, she was absolutely stunning, even when going to look for a group of missing teens.

She hopped in the car, greeting my dad with a quick, "Hello" and giving me a kiss on the cheek. Even after dating her since 8th grade, with some bumps along the way, she still gave me butterflies. After she'd sat down in the back seat, I began the journey to the woods near Ray's house.

I pulled up, and parked, getting out of the car, and yawning. I grabbed my bag, and we all headed on our way. The woods was colder than it was in the open, and it was a misty, humid day outside, with the clouds hovering in our midst. My dad got his leg stuck on a thorn bush, making Nat and I both jump when we heard him, grubling in annoyance. One of the thorns was particularly wedged into his leg, slightly bleeding through his pants, but nothing too harmful. We kept walking, not quite sure exactly what we were looking for.

After maybe two hours of hiking, Nat was looking cold, though knowing her she wouldn't complain about it. The temperature was probably about 50 degrees, and I took off my sweatshirt, handing it to her. She refused at first, but gave in, and put it on, thanking me. My dad was maybe 50 feet ahead of us, and Nat and I were taking turns looking to our other sides too.

It was another hour before I heard Dad yelling to hurry, that he'd found a shack. Nat looked at me, and dashed over towards my dad. I followed my heart beating like crazy, hoping maybe we could find my sister. The shack was old, and broken down, seeming exactly like something Ray and Jordan would want to go explore. If there was anywhere for us to hope that they would be, it would probably be here.
