Chapter Forty Five
POV SWITCH
NEW POV
DARIAN'S POV
Christina has been gone for a while now, and the police haven't even found a trace of where any of them could be, I'm going to have to take care of this myself, I've got to find her. Dad and I are going to go out in the morning to look for them, though I'm not sure quite where to start. Maybe in the woods behind Ray's house, since that's where she texted me she would be before she went missing. This is such a mess, I haven't even been able to sleep or eat. She could be dead, but I can't think like that, she's got to be alive, she just has to, and I'm not going to let her die. Mom is gone, we only have each other and Dad, so I'm not losing Christina too.
"Dad! We're going to have to leave early in the morning so we can get as much time as possible!" Dad didn't answer, but I knew he was listening. He's been just as stressed as me about Christina being missing. Everyone's parents are losing it, but Dad only had Christina as a girl in his life. She's his little princess, and right now, we have no way of finding her, but we're going to, we just have to.
I wasn't surprised that I couldn't sleep that night. After an hour or so, I gave up trying, began to pace around my room looking at all my pictures. Christina always looked so happy, I miss her so much. I loved the picture of us last summer, Christina was wearing long pants, and a tank top, even though it was probably 90 degrees outside. She was always so cold, I would call her "cold-blooded." We had so many pictures of us growing up. On these walls, there are pictures of my sister and my family, you can tell some are older, from if my mom is there or not. Christina and I both miss her, but not nearly as much as dad, I can't even imagine. We can't lose Christina too. I didn't realize there were tears streaming down my face, until I heard the phone went off, knocking me out of memory lane. I ran over to my phone, seeing that it was my girlfriend- Natalie.
"Hey Nat, you ok?" I was concerned. Why would she be calling me at 2am?
"Dar, I'm going to help you look for summer and her friends tomorrow. You know my creepy neighbors? Well, it turns out their son is Philip, Christina's best friend. They have a three year old daughter, that Mrs. Sanders is having me watch right now, since apparently Philip's dad is an abusive alcoholic. Maybe this is important. SOrry if I woke you up, I know you haven't been sleeping." I smiled at her rambling, and was stunned Philip had such a rough life at home.
"Hey," I soothed, being able to tell she was stressed, "Nat, it's fine, I wasn't sleeping, and I'm so proud of you for taking care of Philip's sister without even knowing much at all. I'm worried that if you help look tomorrow you'll get hurt, though."
"No, I want to help. Please, please, pleaseeeee?" I laughed, she was such an adorable two year old, I was surprised we were already out of high school.
"Alright, but I'm not going to let anything happen to you alright? Also, try to get some rest, we'll be up early. I love you."
"Ok, got it, I'll try to get some rest, but I'm still watching Tina too, and remember, I almost never sleep anyway. I'll be ready to go at 6am, ok? I love you too, Dar. Goodnight." And with that, she hung up. I let out a sigh, thankful she was willing to help. She and I were so different, and I was worried about how we could stay together forever, but I wasn't ever going to break up with her. She was starting college next month, in New York City. She'd just been accepted into Julliard, for singing and musical theatre. I was so worried about staying together, since I'm not going to the city, but for now, we've got to focus on finding Christina, and all her friends, plus Philip, who she obviously had a thing for.
