Ezra's dream

I was sitting in the common room with the others.

"Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday to you.
Happy birthday dear Ezra.
Happy birthday to you"

I smiled. It's been a long since I celebrate my birthday.

"Comme on Ez, open your gifts" Hera said.

"Mine first!"

"No, mine!" Sabine and Zeb argue and I laughed.

"Kanan why don't you start first?" Hera said and I looked at Kanan who was leaning on the wall beside me.

"Alright. Here you go kiddo" he said and gave me a blue box. I was about to open it and....

"Ezra?"

What was that.

"Ezra?"

All of a sudden everyone disappeared.

"Ezra? Can you hear me?"

I felt my self falling down as everything went black.

"Ezra wake up!"

End of Ezra's dream

I jerked awake and looked around me alarmed. I saw Charlotte standing in front of my bed.

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah. I just had a weird dream. That's all"

"Alright. If you say so. Come on! Time for breakfast and after that we will buy you some new clothes"

"Why? What's wrong with my clothes?" I said looking myself in the mirror.

"Well...you see... those clothes may be fine in your planet but here... those clothes...are a little... weird"

I took a look at her clothes. A blue tee-shirt and black pants. Her clothes are indeed different than mine.

"OK. I guess I need new clothes"

"Nice! Oh and Ezra?"

"Yeah?"

"Happy birthday" she said and left the room closing the door. I sat on my bed thinking about my dream. It felt so real. I pulled out of my pocket a picture of the crew that Sabine painted. I felt some tears escaping my eyes.

"Don't forget about me guys"

I put the picture on the nightstand and went down stairs for breakfast.

Kanan p.o.v

"What the heck do you mean?!!" I screamed at Sato and he hissed.
"Kanan! Good manners!" Hera said.

"F@#k off the good manners. What do you mean that we are not allowed to search for him?!"

"I understand that he is a valuable part of your crew but the risk is too big. We can't go from planet to planet searching for him. We will spend time that we don't have and we will probably get caught. You have to find another soldier to take his place and-"

"Another soldier to take his place?! He's not just a soldier! He's our family and we won't leave him! Tell him Hera!" I said looking at her asking for support but she instead looked down.

"Hera?"

"Kanan, Sato is right"

"WHAT?!" me, Sabine and Zeb screamed together.

"Hera, you're not serious. This is just a cold joke right?" Zeb said.

"Right?" Sabine asked after Zeb.

"Hera?" I said looking at her in hope that she would say that this is all a prank but she didn't.

"Guys look, I miss him just like you but Sato is right. We can't risk to get caught. Also we don't have time. We need to find a base so we need to stop searching for Ezra. We can find someone else to take his place"

"Hera!" I said getting frustrated.

"The conversation stops here and that's an order!" she said and she left.

I can't believe. We all sat there in shock. What just happened?

I shook my head in disbelief and rushed behind her. When I found her I ran in front of her blocking her way.

"Kanan! What are you doing?!"

"I can ask the same"

"Kanan, we need to find a base. We are so close to find one. We have our orders. I won't loose my time for a soldier"

"Soldier? Soldier?! Is this what we are for you? Soldiers? Is this what I am for you? Because Hera I used to know would do anything for her family"

"I'm not the same person who I was when you met me" she said looking down.

"Then it's true"

"What's true?"

"The Hera that I fall in love with is gone indeed" I said and left leaving her speechless.

Hera might left Ezra but I won't. I took some supplies and put then on a bag. I was about to go to the ship's platform when I met up with Zeb, Sabine and Choper.

"Kanan, what's in the bag?" Zeb asked.

"I....uh....well...you see"

"You are going to search for Ezra won't you?" Sabine asked in hope.

"Yeah"

Sabine and Zeb looked at each other and nodded.

"We will distract Hera. Go and take Choper with you. He can truck the ships signature"

"Thank you"

I said and went to find a ship.

Ezra's p.o.v

We were shopping clothes half an hour and we finally sat under a tree to rest.

"Well I spent all my pocket money but it worthed it" Charlotte said and I smiled. Here everything is so peaceful. The people are free to do everything they want and go everywhere and they can live their lives the way they want.

I hope Hera won't leave me. She almost left Kanan when he was captured. Sometimes I wish we weren't part of this rebellion. I wish I had agreed with Kanan when we first met Vader and leave the fleet. Now that we are part of it we, especially Hera, don't act like a family anymore. And before I crash here I remember that the last month Hera is harsh with all of us. She acts like we are....soldiers.

"Hey are you ok?"

"Yeah, just thinking"

"I always come here to think. Here under this tree me and my dad were coming here to see the sunset"

"Where is your dad. I don't think I met him" I said and her face saddened.

"He.....he passed away last year. He wasn't only my dad, he was also my best and only friend" she said fighting tears.

"I have a friend, a mentor but I see him as a father. But I was too scared to tell him. I was afraid that he wouldn't want someone like me as a son. But now that I might never see him again I regret that I didn't tell him when I had the chance. But it's not easy. Especially now that the person that I used to think as a mom acts to me and the others like soldiers. Some times I wish we could leave, me and Kanan, we can go back to Lothal and hide for a while. But right now the only thing I want is to go home"

I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Don't worry. I will find a way to send you home. I promise"

I smiled and she smiled back. We sat up and headed back at Charlotte's house.

No one p.o.v

Bethany Mackay walked through the town. She kept walking until she stopped in front of a grey house. The house of her old partner. She knocked the door. Mark Robson opened the door.

"Bethany, your visit honors me. What can I do for you?"

"I'm not here for talk. I want every video of the town's security cameras tomorrow on my office"

"I see you haven't changed your bad manners"

"I see you haven't changed your ugly face"

They both started laughing. Then Mark closed the door and Bethany walked away.

Let's just hope that Kanan will find Ezra first. For everyone's shake.
