Chapter 27: Life as a Rapper
Issa's POV
Oh no! Oh no! I'm gonna be late! I was so busy choosing songs for my next gig last night, that I woke up late.
Now here I am running to class. Thank god not a lot of people are walking through the halls or I'd be bumping into a lot of peeps right now.
Uh oh. I stopped immediately in my tracks when I see two teachers standing out in the halls.
They're the kind of teachers to patrol like hall monitors, yeah it happens. I hold onto my bag with two hands, speed walking hopefully past the 'hall monitor teachers' who by the way are not the nicest teachers.
Sensei C and Sensei J.
I guess you noticed something with all of the teachers, yes we all call them Sensei, but instead of their full last name it's just the first letter of their last name.
Now you know ya'll.
Anyway, what I said was true C and J...man they are hated by a lot of students, mostly because their you know, the grouchy types.
Please go easy on me. "Young lady! Hurry up to your class." Sensei J said. That's what I'm doing though?
"Yes- Ma'am-" I speed past her. She suddenly gasps. "Don't run past a teacher while talking it's rude!" She scolded again.
Aw man. I guess I HAVE to stop or she'll probably giving me inside break or something like that. Which is pretty dumb ya'll.
I stop for a split second in front of Sensei J and C, so I can repeat myself. "Yes, Ma'am." I said in a monotone voice. "Excellent, continue."
Hearing that, I pick up the pace with my feet against the marble floor, eventually making a mad dash towards my first period class.
Riiinnggggg
Riiinnggggg...
The bell stops.
Oh crap it's too late! The worst of the worst that could ever happen to me. I was tardy to class.
I know y'all think I'm being a little dramatic, welll no I don't roll like that. At this school once your tardy you don't get off the hook easy and that's what worries me.
I push on my sunglasses, fixing them. Can't let these babies fall off me or people will think I look weird just like Sayori without her bow or Monika without her ribbon.
Finally I made it. A few other students were walking past me, waving, saying hi, pretty much everyone knows me, so I'm use to it. I hate to ignore them, but I didn't have much time to process saying 'yo!' like I always do.
I rush into Sensei B's classroom, panting a little. "Oh, there you are Issa, I almost counted you as absent." Sensei B said.
"I'm sorry for being late Sensei!" I bow. Please have mercy on me. "It's quite alright Ms. Rappu. You were only two minutes late, so it's no big deal." She smiles at me.
I breathe a sigh of relief. "Just try to be on time next time." Our Sensei says to me while I take my seat. She looks back at her computer to look at the role call list.
"Ay, Rapsuki, you night owl!" My friend Yuzu said with a lot of energy. "Ya know it." I chuckle nervously. "Nice to see you again, Waku." That's a little nickname I gave her.
She giggles.
Suddenly, I hear clapping waving through my ears. It was our Sensei getting everyone's attention. She's the best.
"Class, as you all know fall break has ended and sadly Halloween has too. So, we will be starting a new unit and this specific one will last until Thanksgiving break..." She continued on explaining our new unit and ya'll know, typical teacher speeches.
"So, for starters I would like for you all to take out your notebooks. We will knock out the notes for this unit." Some people groaned at the thought of taking notes, but they got their notebooks out anyway.
"Psst, Rapsuki." Waku whispers to me. "Ya?" I ask. "You have a pencil I can borrow? I kindaaa lost mine." The fashionable girl chuckles, rubbing the back of her neck sheepishly.
"Yup I do." I whisper. I reach into my bag grabbing my notebook, along with a pencil and extra pencil for my friend.
"Here ya go." I hand her the pencil. She grabs it out of my hands. "Phew, thanks your a life savor!" She said jokingly. I roll my eyes under my sunglasses and smirk.
Dang it I grabbed the wrong notebook.
—————————————————————
"See ya around, Yuzu!" I wave bye to her. "Later Gator! Now I'm gonna go look for Mei." The girl who always has a sweater wrapped around her waist waves bye quickly, so she can go find her 'girl.'
Some guy walks past me and says, "Ohhh liking the new rap song recently, Rapsuki!" Then another girl walks past me saying the same thing.
"Thank ya'll!" I said, then started walking towards my second period. That didn't last long after someone asked me for my autograph. "Pleaseeee can you sign my Dino plush?" He asks.
"Oh sure thing." I pull out a pen in a swift motion and sign my initials on this guy's Dino. "Thankyouthankyouthankyou!" The guy said that so fast, then he just ran off.
Fans, I love 'em. I smirk to myself. Such kind people all the time.
I walk in the same direction as the Dino guy 'cause that's where my 2nd period is. People walking across the halls left and right notice me and either compliment me about my new rap or they want my to sign their stuff.
It's gonna be a long time until lunch.
————————————————————
Yo another time skip. Well it's better if this happened 'cause the rest of time I was just being greeted by fans and listening to teacher speeches.
Here we are at lunch time, now here's where things get interesting.
I see my friend Yuzu sitting at a table getting my attention, but a black-haired girl was sitting next to her.
This must be Mei 'cause her features aren't telling me anything. She isn't happy, excited, anything, her face is neutral.
"Yo, how's it hangin'?" I ask the blonde. "I'm fine. Anyway, I wanted you to meet Mei!" Waku holds a hand in front of Mei as to say 'here she is'.
Mei softly waves to me not uttering out a single word. Not much of a talker I see. "Well, Yuzu's been talking so much about you. Sometimes that's the only thing she talks about." I said to Mei, but teasing Yuzu with my words.
My blonde friend starts to blush a little bit and rubs the nape of her neck. "Well...ya know..." Yuzu tries really hard to come up with some excuse about her crush, but it only comes out as rambling.
"Yuzu calm down. You don't have to act like a motorboat." Mei said in a stern manner, then takes a bite of her sandwhich.
"W-What I'm totally not! What gives you that idea? I'm talking like a normal human!" My blonde friend stutters, a pout forming at her lips as she looks at the Schizoid.
These two remind me of a certain other pair I know very well.
The two 'friends' keep going back and forth between each other (mostly Waku) saying words that really don't go to any particular place, I feel like they just want to fight like this 'cause it's fun.
Mei's comebacks were calm and monotone, while Yuzu's speaking was way more energetic and straining. But I didn't stop them, this is their battle after all.
They def. remind me of Natsuki and Yuri. Not long after our principal, Principal what's-his-face walks over to our table, so he can break up the pair's fight.
"Girls! Girls! Calm down!" Our principal raises his voice a little bit, so they can hear him over the noisy lunchroom.
"What's the problem?" He asks. Yuzu was about to say something, but I quickly butted in. "No problems over here P., just these two fighting over the cup of ramen I have." I point to the chicken ramen I had in front of me.
The principal switches his eyes between me and the girls, me and the girls, finally nodding his head slowly.
"Alright if you say so. Now please no more fighting got it?" He quirks up a eyebrow, putting his hands on his hips.
Yuzu and I look at each other and nod back at him. Mei did too not long after.
"Good...oh and Issa I need to speak with you." The P. said. His arms was in a swinging motion, motioning me to come out into the hallway.
" 'Aight." I set my spoon down and followed The principal into the hallway. It seems he needed to ask something important.
"Whatcha need P.?" I asked, looking up at him. I have been cursed by the shortie witch, the witch who keeps you short and thin.
"Your willing to do this or not it's your choice. Since it is B lunch, I wanted to ask if you could play a rap song during C lunch? Since it's study hall, I don't think this will interrupt with any of your classes." He said.
"I know people love your raps songs, even I love some of your raps. Yes I know it's ironic, but it's true." Woah. The principal, our principal likes rap?
"So what do you say? Are you willing perform one our cafeteria stage?" He puts his hands in his pockets.
"Hmm...give me a sec to think." I look down, putting my forefinger and thumb on my chin, pursing my lips in thought.
"I'll give you 20 bucks." The principal holds put his hand. That sentence made me shoot back up to look at him.
" 'Aight it's a deal then P." I shake his hand, then we head back into the cafeteria.
Our principal goes back stage just to go up on it with a microphone. "Students of Akame High!" He kinda shouts in the microphone. But he gets most of everyone's attention.
"I wanted to give everyone here a little treat today because everyone's been stressed over a bunch of homework lately..." He rambles on a little more.
"Anyway, enough rambling here's Issa Rappu or better known as Rapsuki!" Right as he said that I walk up on stage and he hands me the microphone.
I clear my throat. "RAPSUKI IN DA HOUSE!" I hold up a peace sign 'cause I gotta keep hold of the microphone. Almost everyone in the cafeteria claps, including Yuzu and Mei (mostly Waku), but a couple of people held their ears and gave me a disgusted look.
Ay, haters gonna hate. Alright time to play my new rap.
" 'Aight peeps I recently released a new rap called Pink and Purple, so I'm gonna play it for ya'll today." I said.
I wouldn't be surprised if The principal knew the instrumental version of the song. I put a thumb up to let him know it's time to play the beat and whataya know he did find it.
"Hit it!" I fix my sunglasses and everyone cheers. P. plays the song on the computer, then it plays really loudly threw the speakers, making my ears boom. I love it!
Of course. Rap made by yours truly.
🎶You gotcha pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, they're opposites forever
You gotcha pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, now mix 'em together
Pink the fierce
The strong
Everything might be wrong
But don't worry 'bout your height
'Cause you can still win this fight
C'mon pick up
I know you can do it
I know you ain't small
Your bigger than all
You just gotta show it
So you can own it
Pinkie here is fit
You gotcha pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, they're opposites forever
You gotcha pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, now mix 'em together
Purple the shy
The dark
You have a big heart
People aren't ya thing
But I'm sure your hidin' your wings
C'mon pick up
I know you can do it
I know you got the brains
That's something you sustain
You just gotta show it
So you can own it
Purple here is wit
You gotcha pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, they're opposites forever
You gotcha pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, now mix 'em together
Pink and Purple
They maybe different
But together they're magnificent
In our eyes
We see different sides
The colors could be fundamental
Or you just see magenta
You gotcha pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, they're opposites forever
You gotcha pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, pink, ya purple, now mix 'em together
Rapsuki out!🎶
(AN: Honestly, I think this one is better than the first rap.)
Now that was tight. Everyone in the cafeteria went silent for a moment, surprisingly. I honestly don't know why they're speechless.
Then slowly a clap was heard in the back of this giant room, then more clapping from across the tables, eventually the whole room was full of clapping, cheering, laughter, this is what I live for. People happy like this.
"Stage dive!" A random popular guy shouted loud for everyone to hear. Everyone got up fro their seats and went over to the stage
"Ah be careful now!" The principal said worriedly. "We got her!" Another girl shouted.
It's funny to see Waku dragging Mei along side her, just to get her moving. Anyway...
"Stage dive!" I shout while jumping into a pile of stomach full high schoolers. I think this happened once or maybe five times before.
"Rapsuki! Rapsuki! Rapsuki!" Everyone cheered which made me feel all warm inside.
Actually, I love this school.
—————————————————————
Welp, that's pretty much everyday life for me pretty much ya'll.
So, here I am at home talkin' to Icee Baby 'bout my next gig. He's gonna be a special guest at my next concert.
I yawn. "So whatcha think about this rap, dawg?" I ask him. "It's called Pink and Purple, I actually rapped this at school today."
"Hmm...ain't that the color mixin' one you wrote?" He asks back. "Yup I think it's pretty tight. I also got a good one called Sunglasses." I said.
"Yo, ya know what just do both of them. If the fans loved 'em so much, then we gotta do both." Icee suggests.
"I like ya thinkin' Icee Baby. Yeah we doin' it." On my computer I picked Pink and Purple, Sunglasses, and a few more raps I made, so I can send them to my manager. Then once she gets them, we'll be all ready for the concert.
In the 2nd half that's when my boi Icee Baby is gonna come popping out from behind and rap to the last few raps I have planned for it.
I yawn again. "Yo, RS, you should get some shut eye girl. We gotta big weekend ahead of us." He said over the phone.
"Yeahh your right dawg, I'll see you Saturday." I said, then stretched. "You too. Bye RS." Icee Baby said his final words.
"Bye." I hang up my phone quickly, so I can rub my sleepy eyes under my sunglasses.
Man I'm tired. I get up from my desk, so I can lay in bed. First I take out the dark red clip in my hair, secondly I take off my sunglasses and place them down beside me on my desk.
