Shayaan's POV :-

"Shayaan I'm tired!" James panted and I chuckled in response. We were running behind Haniya, holding her stuff which she bought. Her own hands were also occupied with all those shopping bags of different brands. She is not a shopping freak but she is a girl. She was out for shopping after a long time so I get it.

God knows how do people survive with shopoholic wives.

"After running around the entire mall and checking loads of dresses and shoes she is still not done yet" I spoke in a whisper as not to let my voice reach her ears because I'll be grounded otherwise. I shook my head letting out a huff of breath.

"Haniya please girl I need a break and I'm starving. My stomach needs food. Lets sit somewhere and eat something" James pleaded poking Haniya's shoulder.

"Look at you. What will you do when you will have to go with Selena? She loves shopping" Haniya turned as she narrowed her eyes at him and he groaned.

"Don't freak me out already!" He stated and we both laughed.

"There is a cafe at the groud floor. Come on lets feed our starving friend. I don't want to be blamed for his death" Haniya said looking at me and I nodded.

"Thank God!" James mouthed as we now took the elevator to the ground floor. Reaching there we went directly to the cafe and took our table. It was a little crowded because it was quite famous in here.

After giving our order we waited for it to arrive. In the process I took a tour of the place and my eyes caught something--- something I never imagined to see.

Wasn't she in her hometown? Maybe I'm just being mistaken. Even if she is here why would she be with a guy? No its not her Shayaan. She can't be this girl.

"Shayaan? What the hell did I just see?" Haniya came closer and whispered to me. Her expressions were a sort of horrific and angry.

"Is it really Selena?" I asked looking behind James, to the table where she was sitting with a guy, laughing and all cheesily attracted.

"Yes!" She confirmed and for a moment I couldn't possess the sight infront of me.

"Did he just kiss her on her cheek? Why on Earth she didn't stop him!" I cursed with my mouth wide open. She was not even shocked instead she passed him a toothy grin.

She is in a relationship with James. How can she go this way? Yeah he told me that she has been avoiding him but this is just unbelieveable. I never expected anything like this from her.

"What are you guys whispering? I'm your best friend, how can you abonden me like this?" James asked digging in our conversation.

"Nothing man! Finally our coffee arrived" I tried to change my expressions as now the waiter placed our cups and muffins on the table. I mentally thanked the waiter for coming. I didn't want James to see the girl he love cheating on him.

"Finally!" He looked at the muffins with a dreamy look. I felt a knot in my heart as my eyes again caught Selena.

As I looked at Haniya I mentally prepared myself for what was about to come.

"What are you staring at?" He knitted his eyebrows in confusion.

"Me? Uhh....." Haniya stuttered looking at him and he was all ready to turn.

Don't turn around. Don't turn around please!

His face became flat as he saw the scene infront of him. For a moment he went stiff and emotionless. Soon his emotionless face transformed into an angry one as he clenched his jaw and got up now walking towards them.

"James stop!" Haniya yelled but he couldn't care.

"Listen to me James!" I held his hand making him stop but he jerked away my hand and stood right infront of them, glaring daggers at her once dear to heart girl.

"James!" His name came out of Selena's mouth as they got up. We walked towards them.

"How can you Sel?" He asked looking in her eyes but she sighed not wanting to meet his gaze.

No No No!! This isn't happening!

James's POV:-

"I thought you loved me? Didn't you? All those feelings of yours when you were with me doesn't mean anything to you? I was a complete fool to wait for you to come back so that we could talk and sort things out whereas on the other side all you did was to push me away. Now I get it, that was because you found someone else" I smacked the table harshly as my heart refused to stop breaking into pieces.

She just kissed him infront of my eyes.

"Who the hell are you to yell on her? Just leave us alone" the green eyed guy who was standing silently with Selena now barked, boiling my blood even more.

"You are asking me who I'm? I'm the guy this girl played with whose deepest feelings" a bitter, painful chuckle left my mouth.

"Let me talk Jeremy, just stay quiet" she spoke.

"I wanted to tell you. I didn't want to break your heart James. I'm sorry" she said coming closer. She tried to hold my hand but I moved away.

"Don't you dare touch me" I gritted my teeth as now my eyes stung.

"I loved you James but I love him now. I met him in my hometown and got to know he loves me since childhood. I don't know when I met him it was different and peaceful. A kind of peace I never felt with you" she replied with utmost belief and I went speechless.

"One year Selena. One damn year you spent with me. You gave me memories to relish but now I will hate them forever" I spoke in a whisper as my throat went dry because of yelling. People of the cafe were staring at us now.

"You could have just told me for once. I would have never showed my stupid face to you from that day. I have spent sleepless night thinking where it all went wrong that you don't talk to me" I shut my eyes to suppress the ache in my heart.

"I'm sorry!" She sighed and looked up to me.

"You didn't want to break my heart? Congratulations you already did" I spatted the words filled with venome and marched out of the cafe.

Haniya's POV:-

"James I...." I started but he refused to listen as he sat inside Shayaan's car.

"Shayaan take me home" he ordered looking in space. His breath was heavy and face all broken.

Selena you broke a person who deserve the world. He loved you so much that now I'm affraid how will he face the bitter truth which just showed up. You are my best friend I can't hate you but whatever you did to James is cruel, totally cruel.

"Ok" Shayaan mouthed starting the car and drove out of the parking lot.

"I don't want to go to my house. Mom will get worried because she know me so well that her single glance is enough to know my pain. I will inform her that I'm with you." he spoke looking at Shayaan with a pleading look.

"Sure man. The door of my house is always open for you" Shayaan smiled in his direction and he nodded resting his head on the head rest and shut his eyes.

"We will always be there for you James. It will take time and I know it hurts when the one person you love loves someone else. But it will get better. You will go through this difficult time." I spoke as I placed my hand on his shoulder.

"Thanks Haniya. I appreciate that" he passed a forced smile at me through the rare view mirror and I smiled back.

Shayaan dropped me to my apartment and helped me carry the shopping bags inside.

"I can't believe what just happened Haniya. I feel like tearing up just by looking at his face" Shayaan spoke with a concerned look.

"I know. Just take care of him. Talk to him and comfort him. Ok?" I said as I held Shayaan's hand, pressing it sofly in an assuring way that he will get better. He nodded in response.

"I'll come there at night" I said and he left the apartment.

After I was done with dinner it was already 9:00 pm. I was about to go out when my cell phone started ringing.
I took it from the table and Rameen's name was flashing on the screen.

"Hey!" I spoke grimly as soon as I picked up her call.

"Haniya. I have a good knews to tell you" she said excitedly and I could feel that a huge smile must be there on her beautiful face.

"Yeah I'm listening" I said as now curiosity took the best of me.

"Any guesses?" She teased and I groaned.

"Tell me already Rameen" I huffed and she laughed.

"I'm feeling so shy right now" she giggled and I frowned.

There was a little shuffling at her side and after few seconds I heard Salman's voice.

"Rameen is expecting. I'm going to become world's most amazing dad." he replied and my mouth went wide as I squealed.

OMG! OMG!

"WHAT??? ARE YOU SERIOUS??" I gasped in happiness.

"Can you sense a joke here stupid?" He laughed and I literally started jumping.

"Congratulations. I'm so happy for you guys. Thank God finally! You just don't know bro Its been months since I have waited to hear this news. Seems like God knocked some senses in your brain" I laughed as I teased him.

"Ouch! That statement is so unkind. You are so evil baby sister" he said in a serious tone and chuckled at the end.

"I'll give this news to Shayaan. I can already imagine him dancing and shouting around the house" I shook my head as his image literaaly popped in my mind.

"I know right. He is my brother after all!" He said proudly and there came Rameen's voice stating "And your future husband too" she teased and I felt heat rising upto my cheeks as my lips crooked into a smile.

"Rameen. Stop teasing" I let out a cry and she laughed enjoying in pulling my leg.

After biding goodbyes I headed outside and walked towards Shayaan's apartment. As I entered the main gate I saw James sitting on the stairs, wrapping his arms around his legs as he moved to and fro lost in his own thoughts.

Its hard seeing him like this.

"Hey!" I mouthed, sitting near him. The weather was cold and cool wind was blowing spreading the gloominess of winters everywhere.

"Haniya can I say something?" He looked at me.

"Ofcourse!" I gave him an assuring nod and he let out a sigh.

"I still feel like I'm dreaming and I just want to wake up from this sleep and find her in my arms, near to me!" He started and I listened carefully.

He has to let his hurt out. Selena's presence is everything he needes at this time but unfortunately she is gone.

"I planned a future with her. I just need her but I can't have her. Maybe I'm not good for her. I'm not even mad at her Haniya. If being with him is what she wants, if her happiness lies in this then I'm gonna let her go. Only if she has told me herself what she wants it would be much better. Finding out like this is just hurtful and all I feel is that I've been betrayed" he looked up at the dark sky as he poured out his feelings infront of me.

"I know James how you feel. Maybe it was necessary to happen Maybe it happened to make you strong. Maybe you deserve much better. She will realize her mistake sooner or later. Loving someone doesn't always mean to be with them, sometimes we need to let them go for the sake of their happiness. I'm proud of you James because you are so pure at heart. Lovers like you don't exist in this era. Trust me you will find someone else and when that will happen she will take away all your agony and pain. You just need to accept the reality and move one. Life doesn't stop when we are being tested, when we go through tough times" I spoke geniuenly giving him my advice because deep down I had my full faith in God's decisions.

"One of the worst feelings is when someone makes you feel special and then suddenly leave you hanging and you have to pretend you don't care at all. My mom told me once not to love someone so deeply, not to put your happiness in their hands because when they leave they take away that happiness with them. My dad left her when I was 6. Its just I can't lose anyone else I need" He said as he now carassed the small picture he was holding in his hand.

I felt my eyes getting moistened on listening to his side of story. This side of James was so different from the James who always used to smile and bring smile on other's faces.

Its strange how sad people carry the brightest smiles.

"You don't have to forget her at all James but you have to accept that she is not the person you loved anymore. I believe in you and in your inner strength" I comforted him and he looked at me as if my words gave him a little peace.

"Fate is cruel. I've been through alot as well and I can understand you with all my heart" I continued.

"Thank you Haniya. You are right. Thank you for being there for me" He replied and I wrapped my arms around his neck hugging him tight. He hugged me back and got up smiling at me.

"Shayaan must be feeling left alone. I told him that I wanted to spend some time to myself" He said feeling grim again.

"Doesn't matter man. My one smile can change his entire day. I've this effect on him. You know!" I boasted as we went inside and found Shayaan sitting on the sofa, watching a movie.

"No doubt in that" he nodded in agreement, letting out a laugh.

"Wow finally you guys got to know my existance" Shayaan narrowed his eyes st us and I pouted in response on which he shook his head and gestured us to sit with him. We sat there as the movie which was paused started playing.

"Shayaan talk to your brother because there is something which we all know but you don't" I said still looking at the screen.

"What? What is it?" He shook me by my shoulder and I bit my inner lip to stop my grin.

"I won't tell you!" I shrugged looking at him.

"Please?" He pouted looking extra cute.

"Nope!" I grinned.

"Wait!! I also don't know" James gasped and I moved closer to him, whispering the secret in his ear.

"OMG!! Its such a great news girl!" He smiled wide which I mirrored.

"Huh! So mean of you bookworm. I'll find out myself" Shayaan announced getting angry as he crossed his arms on his torso.

"Awwwh!" I pulled his cheeks and he made a puppy dog face making James and me crack up on his expressions.
