Chapter 16.5
Dipper was sitting on his bed, crying, waiting for Mabel to leave and have summer to officially come to an end.
He decided to let it go by quicker by turning in for the night early. He laid his head down on his pillow, but instead of feeling the soft cotton on his head, it was like he laid his head on a hard brick.
"Ouch!" he yelled, and rubbed the back of his head, "What the heck was that?!"
He lifted up his pillow and gasped. Underneath it was Mabel's summer scrapbook from last year. He quickly browsed through it and came to a stop where he saw a piece of paper sticking out in one of the pages.
It read:
Happy Birthday Dip-Dop! I hope you like your present! I decided that each year I come, I'll give you the previous years scrapbook so you can remember all the fun times we had that year. And I'll take this years scrapbook to mom and dad and try to convince them that you still love them. I know you want to come home, but I hope this helps you feel not so lonely. Have fun as Ford's apprentice!
Love, the Alpha Twin,
Mabel
Dipper looked at what was under the note and it was a picture of them on their last day of summer. He smiled and hugged the scrapbook to his chest.
"This'll do Mabel," Dipper thought, "This'll do."
Now, Dipper had one goal: to wish his sister farewell.

Dipper ran out of the Mystery Shack with no time to lose. He had to get to that bus before it reached the Gravity Falls border.
He dashed through the town, avoiding anything that could slow him down.
He reached the midway point when he suddenly ran into his family.
"Guys!" he panted.
"Dipper?!"
"There's no time to explain! Did the bus leave yet?" he asked.
"Yeah, but you can probably catch it in time if you run fast enough." Wendy answered.
"Alright, thanks!" Dipper said, "Oh and Wendy, can I have my hat back?"
She smiled and tossed it to him. Dipper put it on and threw his cap at her.
"Thanks Wendy!" Dipper yelled as he continued running to the bus.
"Go get her Dipper!" Wendy yelled as she put her cap on.
Dipper finally made it to the street the bus was taking and ran on the open road. He soon started to see the bus and smiled, "Mabel!" he yelled.
Of course that wasn't going to work, but Dipper kept on trying.
"Mabel!"
This time, he could feel it in his gut that she heard him. Dipper had now run fast enough to be right behind the bus.
"MABEL!" he cried out one last time.
"DIPPER?!" he heard from the bus.
Dipper smiled that he could be heard, but just at that moment-
Whack!
Dipper was so focused on trying to reach Mabel, he had completely forgotten about the barrier.
He banged his fists against the barrier angrily as tears started falling down his eyes, "No..." he cried out, "NO, NO, NO!"
"I came so far! And all for nothing!"
He felt like he was going to cry again and fell to the ground in defeat, but then saw the bus come to a stop. He stood up, dusted himself off a bit, and walked to the border.
Mabel came out of the bus and ran towards him.
"Mabel! I'm so sorry I didn't come, I was just being stupid and-"
Mabel came and just gave him a big hug.
"Can you forgive me Mabel?" he asked.
"I already have." she answered.
Dipper then cried into her arms, of both tears of sadness and joy. Mabel smiled and whispered into his ears, "Awkward sibling hug?"
"Awkward sibling hug."
Pat, pat.
Dipper said bye to Mabel one last time as he saw her go onto the bus. He saw as it drove off into the forbidden place he could not follow.
"Goodbye Mabel, see you next year."
