Much to my surprise, the majority of  my class was okay with my sexuality although some wondered how I was sure of it at the age I was.

However, there were some really mean people. During lunch time I was told "Your parents are going to disown you."

This made frightened me so much.

When I got home, I decided to write to my mum about it.

" Dear mum,

I just wanted to get something across.
I hope you will understand and still love me. Mum, I'm attracted to the same gender. I really hope it won't bother you too much.

I was really scared to write this because I was worried about how you might react.

- Rachel "

I folded it and put on the drawer of my mum and dad's bedroom.

-Later-

"Rachel!" My mum called me downstairs.

I shuffled down the stairs, and into the kitchen where my mum was making dinner.

"I saw your letter," she began,

She handed it to me.

"Listen,  Rachel. You're a girl, not a boy. You can't like girls." She said quietly.

"Please rip it up and put in the bin."

"Okay,"  I calmly replied.

I slowly walked upstairs, ripped up my letter and through the pieces in the bin.

I was disappointed that she didn't accept it. However, I was thankful that didn't yell at me.

Unlike what that stupid girl in my class said- I didn't get thrown out.
