Chapter 11

Emily's heart pounded in her chest as her flashlight lighted up the broad back of a man who is in a black jacket, his presence created an eerie shadow across the walls.

One by one, all eyes in the room turned towards Emily's phone flashlight which landed on the figure illuminated by its bright beam. To their surprise, it was none other than the receptionist. The receptionist looked just as bewildered by the sudden attention as the others felt.

“What’s going on? Why are you all staring at me like that?” the receptionist asked, furrowing his brow in confusion.

“We thought you were the killer,” George blurted out, still recovering from the tension of the moment.

Relief washed over the group as they realized their mistake. The receptionist’s focus shifted to the unconscious little boy on the couch, his expression filled with concern.

“Why is this child here? What happened?” he asked, his eyes wide with shock as Alex and George repeated the events they had witnessed. The receptionist's eyes widened as he was listening to what had happened.

As they spoke, the sound of faint footsteps drew their attention to the first-floor rooms, where Jules appeared, looking visibly shaken. Her eyes glanced around the room, searching for her missing son.

“Has anyone seen my son? I couldn’t find him in our room,” she asked, her voice tremulous with worry.

As everyone slowly stepped away from the couch, Jules caught sight of her son lying unconscious. With a gasp, she rushed to his side, clasping his head in her lap as she sat down on the couch.

Tears streamed down her face as she whispered, "What happened to my son?"

Emma filled Jules in on the events they had witnessed, while the receptionist, who had something important to share, listened attentively.

"I almost forgot to mention - the network signal is back!" the receptionist exclaimed, a glow of joy in his eyes.

Upon hearing those words, a surge of happiness filled the entire hall but George still had one burning question on his mind.

"When will the lights come back on?" he asked, his curiosity piqued.

"The lights will be back on soon, as one of our staff is currently working on repairs in the powerhouse of the motel," the receptionist assured the guests. However, a hint of unease stayed in his voice, suggesting there may be something he was hesitant to disclose.  However, there was a slight hesitation in his voice, hinting that there might be more to the story.

Just as he promised, the lights flickered back on, brightening the entire hall and filling everyone with a sense of safety. Alex turned to the receptionist, a look of confusion on his face as he questioned, "Have you called the police?"

"I was just about to call them," the receptionist hesitantly said.

"Oh, okay I will call the police," Alex said, turning off his phone flashlight and dialling the number to call the police. He put the phone over his ear, hearing the ringing sound of the call.

After three to four seconds, the dispatcher picks up the call and answers "Hello, this is 911. What's your emergency?"

"Hello, I would like to report two murders that took place at the motel I'm currently staying at," Alex said in a composed tone.

"Can you provide me with more information? What is your current location?" the dispatcher inquired.

Alex glances up at the receptionist to ask for the address of this motel. The receptionist told him the address of the motel. Then Alex proceeded to give the address of the motel and provided details about the incidents in a clear manner.

"Thank you for the information. Please tell everyone to remain in the motel together and don't leave the motel until help arrives," the dispatcher instructed.

"Okay, sir," Alex said as he hung up the call, turning to Jack, Lily, and the rest of the guests at the motel. Clearing his throat, said "The dispatcher has told me to tell everyone to stay together and not leave this motel until the police arrive,"

George nodded in agreement and settled on the couch, followed by the others. Emily's mind was racing with fear, but Alex noticed her tense expression. Sitting beside her, he reassured her, holding her hand and offering a smile.

"Don't worry, Evelyn. We're all in this together," he said, though thoughts of his hidden secrets lingered in his mind.

"But I am confronting a terrible thing that I have never imagined in my entire life. I wish I could share with you that I have been reincarnated by a demon in this world of friction."

"Yeah, right. I'm not the only one going through this," Emily said, smiling as she kept her secret intact.

"Alex, I wish I could share with you that I have been reborn in this world. This imaginary world is not mine. I belong to the real world where no one loves me and cares for me," Emily thought.

Hidden beneath their calm surfaces, both Alex and Emily carried burdensome secrets they couldn't reveal - they were unwittingly reincarnated in a fictional realm by the Damon Shadowcast. They were unaware of the demon's true nature. They don't know how dreadful he is.

The looming tension of their fate weighed heavily on their minds, unsure whether they had the strength to escape the deadly game of Demon Shadowcast.

As they grapple with their hidden truths, a horrifying mystery continues – who lurks within the confines of the motel as a silent killer?

In this tangled web of mystery and danger, Alex and Emily stand at a crossroads, their destinies entangled in unexpected ways. The dreadful question hangs over: will they be able to uncover the malicious presence in their depth before it's too late?
