Chapter 4

I dont know how long I sat there by the indent after it closed. I mean, its kind of hard to keep track of time in a dark dungeon. All I know I was tired and out of tears when another guild found me.

I tried to explain to them what happened, but I kept choking on my words. I decided it would be best to just show them. I stood up and searched the indent for the button. I hit it and the wall started to open again.

"T-they all died..." I managed to mutter out as I sat back down onto the ground. The guild leader knelt down beside me.

"How many of you were there?" He asked, knowing I was talking about my friends.

"11...12 counting me." I replied. The man glanced into the room before looking back at me.

"Were they all about the same level as you?" The man questioned. I nodded slightly as I stared at the floor, trying to refrain from crying again.

"Then how'd you survive?" He asked. I let out a sigh before giving a small explination.

"I see... Rowan! Mark this place on your map, we'll come back later. For now, we should get this girl back home!" The man called to one of his guild members. He helped me to my feet and started to lead me and his guild out of the dungeon.

After we got out of the dungeon, the guild leader, who mentioned on the way out that his name was Gideon, offered to acompany me back home. I didnt feel like walking home alone, so I took him up on that offer. He told two of his friends to come with to make me feel a little safer.

On the way back to my guild hall, Gideon and his friends, Alex and Jo, chatted with me. They knew the trauma I went through, so they didn't mention what happened. However, I got to learn a bit about who they were before getting stuck in the game.

Gideon used to be a college student who studied engineering. He was nearing his last year too. His Nerve Gear was a gift from his mother for an early graduation present. Obviously, he never finished his degree since he was stuck here.

Alex was a chef at a resteraunt. He was the top chef, even though he was only 22. That was due to his love for cooking that began at a young age. He also mentioned that he owns a resteraunt in this game, and when hes not fighting beside Gideon, he's in his resteraunt. He bought the Nerve Gear because he was curious about all of the hype it was getting.

Jo was a writer. He had a book published already and it made good money. He got the game so that he could write down his experience here, but he got trapped like the rest of us. However, that made him more excited since people would most likely want to read about a survivor than a book just about a game experience.

I told them about me. I figured they should know my situation a little better. They were very understanding and supportive, which definently made me feel a little better. I stopped in front of the guild hall and turned to the three.

"Thank you...for walking with me." I mentioned, smiling at them.

"Its no problem! Here, let me friend you so you can contact us whenever you need help!" Gideon suggested. He pulled up his menu and sent me the request. I, of course, accepted. The other two sent requests as well.

"You know Sabrina, if you ever need something to do, you can come work in my resteraunt! It'll give you sonething to do other than sit round here!" Alex suggested.

"You know what? Sure!" I replied excitedly.

"Alrighty! I'll message the manager and tell him you're joining the team! Since I'm mostly out with Gideon and the guild, he's the one that'll be in charge. He'll start you off as dishwasher, if thats fine with you!" Alex explained.

"Of course! I think as long as im doing something, I'll be fine!" I replied with a smile.

The boys walked off, waving goodbye as they left. I waved back and stood there, watching them leave. Once they were out of sight, I walked back into the guild hall. It was...quiet, which was unusual. With 12 of us, its never been quiet until night.

I walked over the the fireplace and looked up at the picture that hung above. I couldnt help but let out a sigh before looking away.

"I'll go find some flowers tomorrow... They deserve better..." I mentioned to myself. I slowly made my way down to the living quarters. I glanced at each door as I passed, silently morning each friends' deaths.

I finally made it to the end and were faced with the doors of the master bedroom. I could feel tears build at the corners of my eyes. I wiped them away for now and opened the door.

Even though I knew he was gone forever...I still couldnt help expecting Ty to be sitting at his desk like usual and turn around to tell me that it was all a massive joke. Disappointment engulfed me as an empty roon greeted me back.

I walked inside and closed the door. I changed into my pjs and crawled into bed. However, I laid on Ty's usual spot this time. Even there he wasnt there to hold me, i felt a sort of comfort and safety, as if he was there... Protecting me.
