Chapter 13....
TW: Light mention of non-consent touching. Nothing major, just a guy not taking a hint, but I did want to warn anyone beforehand.
Coming back to the bar where I left Jess I found her by herself.
"There you are." She almost yelled as soon as she saw me. "Why are you red?" My hands flew up to my hot cheeks.
"Just a little warm from the alcohol." Which wasn't exactly a lie. Alcohol did tend to make my cheeks a bit pink after a few. Jess nodded believing me. For some reason I didn't want to tell her I ran into Logan in front of the bathroom.
"Where's your new friend?"
"Went to talk to his friends for a minute. Would it be okay if we stayed a little bit longer then head home?" The pleading look she gave me was one I could never say no to. Plus a part of me wanted to see if I could find Logan and who he was here with.
"Fine."
"I knew I loved you for a reason." Jess leaned over and kissed my cheek sending me the brightest grin. It was infectious as I felt my own lips tug up.
"But you are buying me another drink."
"Deal!"
Jess flagged down the bartender for another round before turning back to me.
"What's this guy like?" Hopefully he was better than the last guy she met at a bar. The last guy ended up getting so drunk he threw up all over Jess's shoes and then started crying. Safe to say she left him crying drunk outside for his friends to take care of.
"His name is Sebastian and he's a lawyer. He lives in the town over but its his friends birthday so he came here to celebrate."
"A lawyer." I raised an eyebrow with a smirk.
"I know right. And he's only 28." As Jess went off about Sebastian I found myself looking over her shoulder, trying to find the familiar hair of someone I promised myself I wouldn't think about today.
I should have listened more to Jess but when I finally found the person I was looking for I completely blocked her out. I had to lean to the side a bit to see him as he sat at a table with two other people. Much to my relief they were two guys, no girls. I probably shouldn't have been as relieved as I was.
"Oh, here he comes." I tuned back in, just in time to look away from Logan and see the guy Jess was talking to heading our way, but he wasn't alone. Next to him was some blond guy.
Like any normal girl does I looked him up and down. Taking in that he was tall but his friend was taller. His blond hair had the typical 'fuck boy' style with it shaved at the sides but long on top. The first thing I thought when he looked over at me was 'frat boy'.
I don't even know why that was the first thing that popped to my head. For all I know he could be a super nice guy. Be nice Olivia. I scolded myself.
"Hey." Sebastian greeted Jess, his eyes flitting over to me for the first time all night. "This is my friend Ryan." He introduced the blond. Blue eyes met mine along with a smirk. For some reason I felt disappointed not seeing brown eyes.
"Nice to meet you. This is my friend Olivia." Jess grinned widely. Oh god, they were going to try and pawn me off on his friend while they keep talking and eventually leave together.
"Hi." I greeted.
"Mind if I sit here." Blondie, Ryan, gestured to the seat next to me. Before I could really even say yes he sat down. With a wink from Jess she turned to Sebastian leaving me on my own.
"Yo beer!" He yelled to the bartender. I raised my eyebrows at the way he did it, the bartender doing the exact same thing.
"So are you-" I started to say when he interrupted me.
"So what do you do for fun?" His eyes looked me up and down, lingering longer than necessary on my bare thighs. I gripped the bottom of my dress and tugged it down a bit.
"Um well, I like to bake."
"Bet you didn't know I played football. Almost got drafted to the NFL."
"That's uh..cool." My response was totally lost on him as he leaned his arm on the bar and leaned towards me. Going on about his football career in high school and college.
I knew from that first glance that this was what was going to happen. Nothing more than a guy who knows he's attractive and stuck in his 'glory days'.
As he talked I found myself unconsciously comparing him to Logan. Ryan may work out but it was nothing like Logan's lean frame. Ryan's was clearly for show while Logan was built from his time in the military. Logan screamed man while Ryan screamed boy.
Ryan looking at me did nothing for me. There were no butterflies, no electricity. Even when Ryan touched my arm there was no spark. Instead I felt uncomfortable. The vibe coming off of him making me a bit uneasy.
I shifted a bit back in my seat, moving my arm closer to me. I didn't want to come off as rude but him putting his hand on my mine and shifting closer had me nervously looking around.
Jess was talking intimately with Sebastian and the bartender was further down the bar where I couldn't get his attention.
"You are so sexy." Ryan was so close when he breathed I could see the alcohol on his breath, making me scrunch my nose up.
"Uh, thanks." I leaned back.
"I bet these legs are pretty flexible huh." When his hand came down on my thigh, touching the bare skin, I flinched. Touching my hand was one thing but my leg was another.
"Can you remove your hand?" I tried to make my voice come out strong but it sounded weak.
"How about the two of us get out of here." Once again ignoring everything that came out of my mouth. Ryan leaned forward, lips puckered. I turned my head at the last moment but my plan backfired when his face went for my neck.
An overwhelming sense of dread washed over me. I may be in a packed bar but everyone was too busy to notice what was going on. I knew that if I so much as let him take me outside this night would not end well.
"Stop." I wiggled under his hold but his hand was gripping the top of my thigh with a tight grip, I let out a small whimper. I felt his lips drag along my neck which made tears prick the corner of my eyes.
When I felt something wet touch my neck I reacted, my heel snapped forward, kicking him right in the shin. He removed his face from my neck but kept his grip on my thigh.
"You-"
"You better get your hand off of her before I removed it myself." A deadly voice spoke above us. My eyes immediately snapped to the side, relief filling me at the sight of Logan.
"Excuse me? Fuck off bro."
"I said. Take your hand off of her. Now." The tone that came from Logan would make any normal person scared. The look on his face was pure murderous. Of course Ryan who was drunk and now pissed off wasn't going to give up that easy.
"Find your own slut." The word hit me like a slap to the face but before I could react the pressure on my thigh was gone.
All I could do was sit there and watch as Logan grabbed Ryan by his wrist, yanking him up and out of his seat in a blink of an eye. It was easy to see who was taller and bigger. Logan towered over Ryan and the pure dominance coming from him was palpable.
"What the fuck!" Ryan yelled, his wrist still trapped in Logan's grip. He had it bent at an angle that I knew had to hurt.
"You do not call her a slut." I could see Logan was physically shaking as he spoke.
"If the shoe fits." Somehow Ryan had the biggest balls to say anything at this point. I knew people were staring, the room growing quiet, at the scene in front of me. But none of it mattered. My eyes were glued to Logan.
"She would have been a lousy fuck anyways." That was all it took for Logan to snap. All I could do was watch as Logan threw a punch directly for Ryan's face. In seconds Ryan was on the floor. I wouldn't be surprised if he broke his nose, Logan no doubt packing a mean punch.
"You are lucky I don't beat the shit out of you for what you just said." Logan sneered down at Ryan who looked completely out of it.
Logan turned to me, taking a small step forward. I didn't realize I was shaking until he gently grabbed my elbow.
"Lets go." His voice was so soft I almost didn't hear him. My whole body shook as I slipped off my chair. If it wasn't for Logan's hand I'm pretty sure my legs would have given out from under me.
I could feel eyes on me but I was too numb to care. Too numb to do anything but let Logan lace his hand through mine and lead me away from Ryan who was cursing on the ground.
Wasn't until we got outside, the cold air nipping at my face, did I jump back to the present. My whole body shook and tears were starting to run down my face. I could still feel Ryan's grip on my hand and thigh.
"Shh its okay." Logan was blurry as he pulled me into his chest. My hands latched onto the back of his shirt as I buried my face in his chest. What the hell just happened?
My brain was too numb to even begin processing what just happened. The only thing I focused on was the feeling of Logan's arms around me, one hand rubbing my back the other cradling the back of my head.
"OLIVIA!" I heard Jess yell but I couldn't move. I kept my face buried in Logan's chest as I heard her heels come next to me. "Liv I didn't....I can't...." Jess stumbled over her words. I wanted to tell her it was okay but right now I couldn't. I gripped Logan's shirt tighter.
"I swear I didn't know he would act like that. I swear it. I never would have brought him over." I heard Sebastian say.
I ignored the both of them just wanting to leave. Needing to leave.
"It's fine I'm going to take her home." Logan's chest rumbled as he spoke. They all said something else but I didn't hear it as I tried to get my trembling under control.
"Think you can walk?" Logan spoke softly once more. I didn't want to let go of him. I felt safe in his arms. Safer than I've ever felt. But I found myself nodding my head. "Okay, my truck is right here."
Logan gently untangled himself from me, but once again laced our hands together, leading me towards his truck that was parked only a few stalls away. He quickly unlocked the doors but when I couldn't bring myself to lift my leg up, he grabbed the sides of my waist and gently lifted me into his truck. Even through the thick fabric of my dress I swore I felt the spark from his fingers. I stayed still as he grabbed the seatbelt and reached over me to hook me in.
When he went to shut the door my hand shot out to grab his. He was going to leave. He can't leave. A little whimper escaped my lips but I couldn't help it.
"It's okay I'm just going around the front." He promised. With a little nod I let him go but kept my eyes on him the entire time he jogged around the front of the truck and slid into the drivers seat. The moment he was seated I reached out and grabbed his hand again.
Thankfully he had one of those older styled trucks without an arm rest in the middle. It was a bench seat which was perfect for me to keep a hold of him. I scooted a little closer.
"My purse?" I mumbled, looking around his truck.
"Jess has it." I gave him a small nod. "Do you want to go home?"
"Not yet. Can we...can we drive for a little bit?" My voice was small and quiet as I spoke. I didn't want to leave Logan yet. Just a few more minutes.
"Okay." I went slip my hand from his so he could drive but Logan only tightened his grip. Without saying a word he reversed and started driving.
Sitting there in his truck, his hand in mine, I started to feel better. The shaking had stopped and the events that just happened were now starting to hit.
"Thank you." I said after a few minutes of silence.
"You don't have to thank me." I looked over at him. The faint glow from the dashboard lit his face in the dark. From this angle his jaw looked so sharp that my fingers ached to run across it. Who would have thought a side profile of someone could be so attractive.
"Yes I do. I should...I should have left before he even had the chance to..." I should have pushed his hand off of me when I started to feel uncomfortable. Instead I just sat there like deer caught in headlights.
"Olivia."
"I should have done something instead of just sit there." Ryan calling me a slut repeating in my head. My mind was going a mile a minute that I didn't notice Logan had pulled over.
"Olivia." He pulled his hand from mine to reach up and cup the side of my face, turning my face towards him. His thumb brushed the top of my cheek, the touch as light as a feather.
"Don't." Logan looked back and forth between my eyes. "Don't you dare think like that." He told me fiercely. Even in the dark I could see the way his eyes flashed. "You did nothing wrong."
"But-" Logan shook his head cutting me off.
"No." He said the word so strongly I almost had no choice but to believe him. "Come here." A flick of his wrist my seatbelt was off and he was pulling me towards him. Logan wrapped one of his big arms around my body, holding me into his side.
I didn't resist as I leaned my head against his chest again, wrapping my own arms around him. His cologne met my nose and I inwardly sighed. I wanted to bathe in his cologne. There was also a hint of pure Logan. It sounded weird but even without cologne I knew he smelt good.
His body was firm, yet soft, as I felt myself start to relax. Logan's arm was heavy around me but it was comforting. His hand was resting on my hip, the tips of his fingers barely brushing the bare skin of my thigh.
It was quiet, the inside of his truck warm, as we sat there pressed against each other. Logan didn't seem to be in a rush to go anywhere and neither was I. I never wanted to move from this position. For the first time in...well forever I felt safe and cared for.
Sure I've dated a few guys through out college but none lasted long and none ever made me feel like this. Then again they were all boys, not men like Logan. Cause Logan was pure male. Body honed to perfection.
I was glad he was there tonight. If he hadn't been...my body shivered at the thought. Feeling it Logan tugged me closer. I felt a small weight rested on my head, my lips tugging into a small smile knowing it was Logan's chin.
"Thank you." I whispered. I wasn't entirely sure what I was thanking him for exactly. For defending me tonight. For helping at the bakery the last week. For this moment right here. All of it.
"Always."

I'm legit fangirling over my own characters and I don't even care. Logan defending Olivia!? Hell yeah! He's possessive just enough where its hot. Logan coming over just proves he was staring at her the entire time, no doubt jealous af.
