||Trapdoor||

Hope I can make you cry purgastory-
Actually, I'll feel bad if you do.

He wakes up early today,
Throws on a mask that will alter his face,
Nobody knows his real name,
But know he just uses one he saw on a grave,

Castiel sat at the edge of the bed, his face resting lightly in his hands. He knew he had to do something today, not just lay around and wait for Dean to come home. He was growing tired of being stuck in the bunker ever since he became human. He knew the place like the palm of his hand by now. He begs Dean that he wants to go outside and take a stroll through a park or something to get rid of thoughts he had in his head.

~le flasback~

"I only want the best for you, Cas. Please, I promise you that we can relax for a day when there is no hunting to be done, okay?" Dean says, walking up to his friend. He hated the term, but he knew it can be nothing more.

Cas looked up at him and tilted his head to the right, "Do you [pinky] promise Dean?" He held up his pinky.

Dean stifled a laugh and looked at the pinky, "Cas, that's childish, who taught you that?"

"Sam did, why?" Cas said, his pinky still in front of Dean's chest. Dean shook his head, laughter erupting from his mouth. Cas was clueless as to what Dean was laughing about. "Dean please, this is a serious matter." Dean laughed even more and Cas was scared that his friend was not calming down.

Dean finally took a breather and rested a hand on Cas' shoulder, "Don't ever change, Cas."

~end of flashback~

He pretends he's okay,
But you should see
Him in bed late at night, he's petrified
Take me out, and finish this waste of a life

He knew Dean was only protecting him since his grace was gone. He felt vulnerable, weak that he couldn't go on hunts or heal Sam and Dean when they were badly injured. Charlie usually stayed in the bunker and helped Cas go through the human routine. Wake up, eat do, work, eat, be bored out of his mind, eat again, shower, wait for the brothers, and go to sleep. He would have liked to go outside and pet the cats in the shelter, or go and enjoy a serene day in the park. He sat there in his thoughts, he hated them since none of them were pleasant. Most of them were about the times he had lied to the brothers about his past or when one of them got seriously injured in a hunt he couldn't do jack shit.

"Hey, Cas!" He snapped his head to the voice that came from the crack at his door. Charlie stood there and she raised her arms in the air.

"Oh, hello there Charlie," Cas moved his arms to his sides and stood up. Charlie smiled as she opened the door and walked in. He looked at her attire; she wore a white tee with the Hogwarts crest on her left breast, black tights with stars and the Death Star on the left leg, red hoodie, and black converse.

"Cas, Guess what! My stomach is requesting an ice cream that comes from a distant place called Baskin Robins! We must go and fulfill the task at hand young Jedi!" She giggles and dances around Cas.

"But Dean would get mad, he said not to leave the bun-" Charlie grabbed the sleeves of Cas' coat and attempted to make him dance.

"He doesn't have to know, Cas. What would getting a little bit of ice cream do? It won't kill you." She smiled and flapped the sleeves a little more as to make him "fly."

Cas gives up and cracks a small smile. "Okay, Charlie, I'll go with you."

The ginger lets go of his coat and does a small, celebratory dance. She tugs at his sleeve and walks out, "Yeet, I'm getting ice cream!"

Both the girl and the former angel walk down the corridor and through the entrance. A small hit of relief washes over Castiel as he walks outside and takes a deep breath. But as he does so, he's also hit with a pang of worry. What if something were to happen to him? Deans words resonated in Cas' head but he shook them out and continued walking down the street with Charlie. She skipped and hummed little songs that were unknown to Castiel. She had to explain to him where they were from and what theme songs were. He smiled at the thought of having a theme song and living in a tv show.

The trees swayed in the breeze; the red and orange tinted leaves hinting at the change of seasons. Cas shivered lightly but thought none of the temperature. He continued walking with Cherry (a nickname he gave her) and looked behind him, he felt as if they were being followed, but he tossed the idea as him being paranoid. After a few minutes, they reached the small store and entered. Cas felt captivated by the number of colors that bounced off of the walls. He turned and saw a couple that also captured his attention.

In a small booth sat a couple. Nothing special, they were drinking milkshakes and eating some pastries. He felt something in his chest, jealousy was it? He still hadn't comprehended human emotions, but he had learned of anger, sadness, happiness, and even love. He asked for Charlie to help him since his heart beats faster at times when he was with Dean. He thought he had to go to the hospital and get his heart checked. She just laughed and called him an adorable dork in a trench coat.

"Double scoop of Rocky Road in a bowl, please. Hey, Cas, what flavor do you want?" Charlie had snapped him out of his trance. He looked away from the couple and turned to Charlie.

"Oh, can I get," he looks through the glass and spots a new flavor of ice cream, "can I get that one?" Charlie nods and asks for a double scoop in a waffle cone. Cas smiled and thought of getting back to the bunker and sharing the ice cream with Dean. It was pecan pie flavored after all.

After paying for the ice cream, they decide to walk back to the bunker before Sam and Dean arrived there and found them gone. They had already walked about a quarter way and were in front of the park when Charlie jumped and exclaimed that she had forgotten her wallet.

"Shit, Cas can you wait for me here? I think I left my wallet back there." Charlie asked and she smiled as he nodded. She began to jog back to the store and out of Cas' line of sight. He sighed and walked into the park. His trenchcoat twirled behind him as soon as the wind began to pick up. Cas spotted an empty bench and he sat down. He was left alone with his thoughts again. The reason he hated them was that they were of him and Dean together. He knew Dean liked women, not men; so some of the thoughts were of him being rejected if he dared tell Dean how he felt for him. He felt stupid, but he couldn't help it. He was falling for the hunter. And hell did it hurt.

Crunch.

He looked up and saw a man no older than 26 in front of him. The man wore jeans and a flannel, nothing too fancy or underdressed. Cas sat there, staring at the stranger, but soon enough he stood up and felt a hand grip his shoulder and a stinging pain in his gut. The sudden movement and pain made Cas drop his cone and slump slightly onto the man. His blue eyes widened as he twisted the blade and pulled out as Charlie yelled. He could hear her pleading cries and footsteps echo through the nearly empty park.

Everyone gather around for a show,
Watch as this man disappear as we know,
Do me a favor and try to ignore,
As you watch him fall through a blatant trapdoor,

Charlie's cries suddenly appear beside Cas' ear. He didn't know when but the attacker had fled and he had been laying on the floor, bleeding to death. He could hear chatter and screams of horror, he could hear Charlie yell for people to call the ambulance, he could even hear the screeching of tires and the voice he loved call for him. Dean?

"Cas?" His voice seemed distant but he was only a mere feet away. Dean couldn't see clearly, but the distraught and discordant cries plucked at his heart's strings. "Cas!" Dean broke out into a full out sprint once he saw the trenchcoat drenched in blood. Dean sat next to Cas, carefully laying his head onto his lap and lightly slapping his cheek.

"CAS! Please, buddy I need you!" Dean said, turning Castiel's head and stared at his dull blue eyes.

Cas raised his hand and took out his pinky, "you promised, Dean."

Dean's eyes were glued to the weak hand that was hovering a few inches from the wound. Sam was on the other side of Cas, applying pressure to the wound. Charlie was being comforted by a friend who had passed by and witnessed the scene.

"Please Dean, we made a promise to relax one of these days and have fun. Don't tell me you broke it already." Cas' lip quivered and tears began to roll down his cheeks. He was tired and being taken over by sleep. Sleep sounded good to him right now, he contemplated it.

"I haven't broken it, Cas. I still hold on to the promise, just please don't close your eyes." Dean couldn't help but tear up. He wanted this shit to be over, he wanted out of whatever Hell he was in.

"Do you mean it? Promise?" Cas' voice became weaker, his skin pale from blood loss. Although Dean heard the sirens around the corner he nodded his head and raised his pinky next to Cas'.

He wrapped his pinky around his and kissed Castiel's head, "I promise."

"I love you, Dean."

"I love you too, Cas-"

"Cas?"

Cas' grip slipped and his hand fell onto his chest. His chest had stopped moving and so had his tears. Sam let go of the cloth he had used to put pressure on the wound. Dean shook him lightly in disbelief that his angel was gone, he rested his head onto Cas' and sobbed uncontrollably.

"I promise."
