10. Lost
Skyfrost's POV
I had grown really close to Smokescreen, I mean I'm his sparkmate now. No one knew though, I mean, Optimus knows that about us but no-one knows we're bonded.
Optimus let me out on more missions, he seemed impressed with my recent performances and he seemed to trust me more on the field.
I walked into the main room, all the 'Bots were chatting amongst themselves, while Prime and Ratchet were staring at the screens. I looked up and saw the three humans sitting on the couch playing video games.
I looked to my right and saw Smoke, he smiled warmly at me and walked towards me. "Morning Sky." He greeted. "Morning." I replied back. He slyly wrapped an arm around my waist, I leant into him, smiling.
Optimus turned around and Smokescreen rapidly drew his arm back and I stood up, straight as ever. I noticed Optimus flash a small smile.
"Ratchet has located an object giving of a very strong signal, we will ground bridge to the location and search the area." Optimus ordered.
"Optimus. . . Another signal has popped up. Same energy signature as the other one." Ratchet explained. Optimus nodded at the old medic.
"We will send out two teams. Bumblebee and Arcee, you will accompany me. Bulkhead, Smokescreen and Skyfrost. You three will take the other energy signature." Optimus said, his voice full of authority.
We all nodded, accepting his command and set out. Optimus' team left first. Then it was our turn. Smoke and Bulk ran through first, I was about to run through until Ratchet stopped me. I turned around.
"Be careful, those two can be a handful." Ratchet joked. I nodded and then ran through the glowing portal.
When I exited the groundbridge I was greeted by a chilling wind. I threw my servos in front of my faceplate in defence from the chilling cold. I looked around for Bulkhead and Smokescreen.
"Where are the others?" I questioned myself. They were nowhere in this barren wasteland. I walked forward a little in the freezing, white, soft ground. I think its 'snow' as the humans call it.
"Where the frag am I?!"
-------------
Smokescreen's POV
"Where's Sky!?" I yelled at Bulkhead. "Woah, Smoke listen I don't know." He said innocently. I sighed. "I know, sorry I'm just freaking out. I'll comm Ratchet." I raised a servo to my helm.
"Ratchet, do you know where Sky is?" I said, slightly worried. "No. . . Isn't she with you?" He replied. "No." I said starting to freak out. There was silence until Ratchet spoke again. "I can't get her signal, either she's underground or she is in extreme weather conditions jamming up the signal." He explained.
"Well how are we meant to find her!?" I shouted. "I. . . I don't know, Smokescreen."
---------------
Skyfrost's POV
I walked through this freezing wasteland holding myself with my arms, trying to keep my gears from freezing. But it was futile. Ugh I felt like my actuator was going to freeze and crumble.
Why haven't the others found me?!. . . . The weather, its probably jamming my signal, great! Who knows when I'll get outta here. . . . Or of I even do. . .
I kept walking forward, I don't know what I'm looking for I just want Smoke. I want to be in his warm embrace. I want to feel his strong securing arms around me.
Knowing that the weather is preventing Ratchet from pinpointing my signal, I was sure I was going to freeze to death in this frozen wasteland.
-------------
General Narration
Optimus and his team ended up in a forest and searched for any strange objects that may be displaying the energy signature.
The three 'Bots split off in their own direction trying to cover more ground.
Within the silence each of their com-links went of, Ratchet's voice booming through each of their audio receptors.
"OPTIMUS IS SKYFROST WITH YOU?!" Ratchet asked loudly. "No she is not." He replied back calm as ever. "She is not with Smokescreen's team either, I believe the ground bridge malfunctioned sending her somewhere else. Problem being, I cannot pinpoint her signal, she is either underground or in extreme weather conditions." Ratchet rapidly explained. "Understood. Thankyou Ratchet. We will quickly finish up here and return to base to assist in the search for Skyfrost." Optimus replied back. He informed his team of the recent events.
----------
Smokescreen and Bulkhead kept searching frantically for any sign of where Skyfrost might be.
"Smoke, I don't think she's here." Bulkhead said. That ticked Smokescreen off. He spun around to face Bulkhead. "I KNOW SHE'S NOT HERE BULKHEAD!! IT'S KINDA OBVIOUS!! SO THAT'S WHY WE ARE SEARCHING FOR HER!!!" He yelled at him. Bulkhead flinched and took a step back.
Smokescreen realised what he had just done and stumbled backwards. "B-bulkhead, I-I'm sorry, I just . . ." He trailed off, fluid clouding his vision, he couldn't hold it in anymore.
Bulkhead walked towards Smokescreen and wrapped an arm around his shoulder, "Smoke, I understand you're worried. I know what she means to you." He started. Smokescreen looked at him quizzically, 'How does he know!? Only Prime knows!' Smoke thought to himself.
Bulkhead noticed the look on Smokescreens face and explained everything. "Optimus told us. . . everyone knows." He said. Smoke just stared at him and then slowly nodded. "Don't worry. We'll find her." Bulk assured him.
Suddenly Smokescreen fell to his knees holding his chest. "Arghh!" He yelled in pain. "Smoke! What's wrong!?" Bulkhead asked worriedly, racing to his friends side. "Cold. . . s-so cold. . . " Smokescreen muttered. "Cold? But we're in a canyon?" Bulkhead said confused. "I-it's S-sky! It's the b-bond!" Smokescreen exclaimed happily, knowing he had some way to locate his sparkmate.
Bulkhead contacted Ratchet about to update him on the current events. "Rach! Is there any extremely cold place that could jam up the signal?" He asked the medic. "Hmm let me see, the only obvious place coming to my processor would be that wasteland, 'Antarctica'. The temperatures on that land are extreme enough to jam Skyfrost's signal." He said.
Smokescreen cut in. "Send me there. Now." Smokescreen ordered. "Smokescreen, do not be rational how will you return back to base." Optimus started over the comm. "You can groundbridge me to the Antarctic, I'll search for Sky she can't have gotten far in those temperatures. Give me 15 to 20 earth minutes to find her then reopen the groundbridge at its last location, which will be the Antarctic. Once I find Sky I'll head back to the spot I exited the groundbridge." Smokescreen explained his elaborate plan.
Optimus thought it over on the other end back at base. Ratchet looked over to his leader. "Optimus, that could work." He pressed on with the idea. Optimus looked to the medic and nodded his head.
Smokescreen waited impatiently and was about to speak up until a groundbridge opened in front of him. He ran through it without hesitation.
He shivered at the wind and snow. But he had a mission, and he was going to find her.
"SKY!!!" He called out, hoping she would hear him.
------------
Skyfrost's POV
I haven't made it very far from where I exited the groundbridge. Every wind that hit me made my every movement that little bit more slower and more painful. I don't know how much more I can take.
Ice was forming on the tips of my digits and all over my legs. I lost feeling in my pedes from them sinking into the ice cold snow. My vision was getting extremely blurry. I had fallen down many times and it was a greater effort to get back up every time.
Until. . . .finally. . .
I looked into the distance and saw a figure. . . I narrowed my vision tyring to focus on the figure. . . "S-Smokescreen?" I whispered. Oh thank the AllSpark, He's here.
I saw him starting to run towards me. I would've run but my gears were going to do no such thing! They were almost frozen!
Smokescreen reached me very quickly wrapping me into a warm embrace. I melted into his hold, partly because I was so glad to see him and partly because I couldn't hold myself up anymore.
"Oh Sky! Thank the AllSpark you're ok! I thought I'd lost you!" He cried as he picked me up bridal style and walked back. "T-thankyou. . . " I muttered. "It's ok, I'm just glad your ok." He said I smiled at him before I closed my optics.
-----------
I onlined my optics and found myself in the main room of the Autobot base. "Ughhhhh What happened?" I groaned. "The groundbridge malfunctioned, sending you to the Antarctic. Smokescreen saved you and then brought you back here." Ratchet explained.
Smoke ran in and ran to my side. "Are you ok?!" He asked frantically. "Yes, I am, thankyou." I giggled. He leant down and kissed me gently. "I'm glad you're ok." He said. I smiled up at him.
