Season 1 Episode 9: Christmas in July

Cody's P.O.V

It's been approximately a month since the fire and it has been practical. I'm nearly a professional with using a wheelchair and Dad has reluctantly allowed me to assist in minor missions, which is surprisingly all we've had.

Today is extra hot as we come into midsummer, with the temperatures reaching a close 50 degrees. Frankie had called me earlier in the day suggesting we make and sell lemonade out at the town square to get some spending money for the next time we go to the mainland. I had readily agreed and had organised to meet her out there in ten minutes.

One hour later

No One's P.O.V

" How hot is it in Griffin Rock today? So hot they say that one can fry an egg on the sidewalk. Or can one? Well, the Mayor is about to find out. " Huxley Prescott announced over to his news camera, as Mayor Luskey, cracks an egg onto the sidewalk, watching with the crowd of townsfolk, in fascination as it sizzles and cooks.

Over on the other side of the street was Cody and Frankie with their pop-up ice lemonade store. " Beat the heat. Summer treat. We accept cash, credit, or plutonium. " Frankie called out to the townsfolk to get their attraction as they wandered past. "Here you go. Thanks." Cody declared to one of the customers as they brought there cold, iced drink.

" Francine Greene's beverage enterprise is illegally operating in a non-commercial zone, and I fear Cody may be an accessory. " Chase confessed to Chief as they were driving past on patrol. " Why don't we let it go this time, Chase? The kids are helping people stay cool. Speaking of which, all the advanced technology that went into you bots, they couldn't give you air-conditioning? " Chief burns concluded to Chase as there were specks of sweat rolling down his face. " I was unaware my air needed conditioning. " Chase explained in a perplex manner, as they turned down the street to see Kade and Heatwave on the grass with the youngsters.

" Yeah! Yeah! All right! " the young children cried out as they ran through the water from Heatwaves fire horse. " I'm a trained emergency responder, not a sprinkler. " Heatwave complained not appreciating being in the heat and sitting there just so kids can play? " Quit complaining. The rugrats love it. " Kade explained while holding the horse for the kids to run through. Going back to keeping an eye on everything around them, especially Cody.

"Hey, Cody. We're low on ice. " Frankie told to Cody as she checked the lemonade. " No problem. I'll roll over to the firehouse and " Cody never got to finish his sentence as the Mayor started to shout as the egg he had been cooking caught on fire. " Apparently, it's not only hot enough to fry an egg, but to start an omelet-sized inferno! Help! " Huxley Prescott said while panicking in his speaker. " No! Stop! Just no! Not the hair! " The Mayor proclaimed while hurling the hat on the ground to stomp on it while setting the roof cover on fire with the flipper he was waving around.

Kade had looked over to see what was going on when he spotted the fire he used the first thing on hand to put it out. Which just happened to be the horse in his hands, so Kade uses the horse to put out the fire and spray the Mayor down. " Your welcome " Kade called while grinning like an idiot.

Cheif walks comes over to the Mayor to check on him when he looks to the ground to pick up the Mayor's hair while giggling a bit, but coughs to cover it up and gives the Mayor is hair back. "Mr Mayor. " ask the Chief while handing it over, while the Mayor is seething at the incident that he made

" Better not keep the kiddies waiting. " Kade said to Heatwave going back the grass. " Blades and Boulder better be suffering, too. " Heatwave complained to himself

At the firehouse Blades was sitting down resting with the fan on him, as Boulder was read over at the bookshelf when Cody came rolling out of the left towards the freezer " Ice! And yes! Juice bars! Nothing better on a summer day. " " Seasons another fascinating human concept. How do they work, exactly? " Boulder asked Cody as he was about to roll past back out to Frankie. " Well, there are four of them and " Cody replied but didn't finish as Boulder interrupted him. " And you can just pick whichever one you want? "

" No. Because, well, you can't. There's a natural cycle, and "

"Snow! May we see some? In person? "

" You will when winter comes. But that's still a ways off. "

" That doesn't make any sense. Shouldn't we have snow now when it would be more appreciated? "

" But if it snowed in the summer, then it would be winter and help me out here. " Cody ask Blades as he turned in his chair

" Don't look at me. Nothing on this planet makes sense hot dog, but it's not a pet. " Blades said back. " You know what, Boulder? You're right. It would be great to have a snowfall right now, but Hmm. " Cody said then looked at the bucket of ice in his lap. " We do have a weather machine, Cody, but it was developed before I came to the island, so I've never had any direct experience with it. According to this inventory, the weather machine is back here - On the B.L.F. shelf. " As Frankie and Doc walk Cody wheeled next to them

" B.L.F.? " Frankie asked. " Best left forgotten. Inventions that didn't quite make the grade, like this perpetual motion lamp. It'll keep not working forever! And somewhere over here is the invisible telephone. It's missing! Just kidding I think. " Doc Green explained. " Is this the weather machine? " Frankie asked

" I believe so. Intriguing design. " Doc green said as he walked over to get a better look. " It looks brand-new. " Cody said with excitement as he got over to it. " And it appears to be in perfect condition. " Doc Green said while turning the weather machine on and rain came out of the forming cloud. " Whoa! Noble! " Frankie and Cody said at the same time

" Cleanup on aisle seven. " Doc Green called out and a small vaccine droid came out and sucked up all the water. " Why all the interest in the weather machine, Cody? "Doc asked Cody. " Cody has an idea. " Frankie said before Cody could reply. " Well, I just thought, with all the heat, it might be nice to offer a little relief maybe some, I don't know, snow. " Cody explained. " Christmas in July. That's brilliant! " Doc said impressed

" Yeah! We could set up the machine in the town square. " Cody said getting existed that this might work. " Or maybe we could just enjoy the summer and go for a cool swim. " Frankie suggested wanting to go for a swim. "Nah! " Doc and Cody said at the same time "

When they got to the town square the rescue bots where setting up the square with fences and decorations or the snow. " Please enjoy the unseasonable weather responsibly. " Chase said in his robot voice. " How cold is snow? What does it feel like? Is every snowflake actually different? " Boulder asked graham as they were getting the fences set up.

" Just help me with this fence, would you? " Graham said not wanting to explain it all right now. " Frankie, you're going to freeze once the snow starts falling. " Cody said to Frankie as she came out the car in her dress. " Sorry, Cody. Glad your idea worked out, but I like summer. I'm going to the river. See you later, Daddy. " Frankie explained to Cody. " What? Oh! Yes, honey. Be safe. And obey the lifeguard. " Doc Green answered his daughter

" Here you go, Mayor. " Chief said to the Mayor handing him the walkie talkie. " Hello, hello. One, two, three. Is it Oh! It is. Welcome, friends and family.I thought it would be a nice treat for everyone to experience christmas in July. " the Mayor said the the towns folk around. " What?! That was my idea, Dad. He can't " Cody complained to his dad. " Now's not the time, son. " Chief said softly to Cody. " And so I personally made all the arrangements to bring the Uh, hello? Hello? Ugh! Get that thing fixed. " The Mayor continued like nothing was wrong until Chase turned of the walkie talkie.

" Mayor or no Mayor, he's not telling a lie over my public-address system. " Chase explained. " Thanks, Chase. " Cody said

" Cody!" Doc Green called and Cody Quickly wheeled over to Doc. " Since this was your idea, care to do the honors? " Doc said and Cody went to the machine and turned it on and the snow started " Whoa! Wow! " the towns folk said " Whoa. " Boulder said as he watched the snow. " So, what do you think? " Cody asked the Bots. " Well, beats playing lawn sprinkler. " Heatwave said " Snow comes from the sky? I had no idea. " Blades said

" It's so beautiful. I wish we could be over there. " Boulder said. " Yeah! Look over here! So cool! " the towns folk were yelling. " That's it. Time to go. " Graham said as he lifted Cody out of his chair as it deactivated and set him down on the other side. " But the snow just started! " Boulder said upset to have to be leaving. " Sorry, big buddy. We have a mission. " Graham said as he put Cody on the ground and started to push him over to the path, " you know I can do it myself Graham " Cody said while crossing his arms. " I know but is well be faster " Graham said just wanting to get to the surprise faster.

" Ta-da! " Cody yelled when Graham pushed him around the corner alleyway " Whoa! But how? " Boulder asked as they looked at the snow on the ground at the side of the police station. " I asked Doc Greene to test the weather machine over here this morning. It's all yours. " Cody said

" You mean we get to play in it? " boulder asked. " What if somebody sees us? Most of the town's in the square. " Blades asked worried. " And I'll be on watch just in case. " Graham said not really wanting to play with snow. " Come on! Before it melts. " Cody yelled as he wheeled into the snow to play " This is so strange. " Blades said

" Just pick up a handful, smash it together " Cody said " Now what? " Boulder asked " Aim for something, think, "I'm gonna hit that," and throw. " Cody explained " I'm gonna hit that. " Boulder said " Nice try, green bean. You couldn't hit the back side of Unicron with a lobbing ball. " Heatwave said " Here's how it's done. " Heatwave said

" Ow! " Kade yelled " This is still strange. It's still strange. " Baldes yelled " Good one, Boulder. " Dani said " Is it permissible to attack one another using frozen precipitation as a weapon? " Chased asked " Not only permissible, Chase. It's required. " Cheif said " And humans enjoy this why? " Chase asked still confused " Oh someone's coming. " Graham yelled " That was close. " they all yelled.

" Look I made a snow-bot. " Blades said " Come on. I'll make it easy for you, big boy. I won't move a servo. Bet you still can't touch me. " Heatwave said " Aim. I'm gonna hit that. " Boulder whispered " The human word for that is "oops. " Cody explained suddenly dark snow clouds. " Uh, it's not supposed be snowing here. " kade said " It's getting colder, too. " Dani said " That can't be good. " Cody said getting worried as they all start to make there way back to the park.

" I can't move it. The control panel has been damaged. There doesn't seem to be an off switch. " Doc green said " Whole town's gonna be covered in no time. " Chief said " This is turning into a disaster! Whose idea was snow, anyway? " The Mayor complained " But but you just " Cody said " I know how to turn that thing off. " Kade stated " No. If we destroy the machine and the cloud stays where it is, it could keep snowing indefinitely. " Graham said

" C-c-c-can't we just take the whole thing inside or cover it up? Just cover it up! " the Mayor asked " The beam consists of sub-ethereal particles. They pass straight through solid objects. " Doc Green explained as he showed using a board. " Why do you science types always have to make things so complicated? " The Mayor said " The only solution is to repair the weather machine so that we can reverse the effect. I need to bring this back to my lab. Cody, check in on Frankie for me, will you? " Doc explained

" Sure thing, Doc." Cody said

" Boulder. " Graham commande

" Understood. " Boulder said

" Faster, all of you. Before Griffin Rock becomes "glacier rock". I-I'll be inside city hall g-getting warm. " The Mayor said

" Warm is not a bad idea. Attention all, the snow is making it hard to get anywhere.
And with the temperature dropping, I think it's best for everyone to get inside city hall to wait out the blizzard. " the Chief said " Kade, help them get settled. "

" Can't Cody do that? He'll be on dispatch. " Kade complained

" Dani, I need an eye in the sky. You and Blades look for trouble spots anyone who might need help. It's cold up there, so stay low. " Chief said

" I know a bot who'll like that concept just fine. " Dani said smiling to Blades

" Graham, you and Boulder plow a path back to Doc's lab.Make sure he gets there in one piece. " Chief told his Son

" Yes, sir. " Graham said

" Cody, get the com-tab from Chase, and use city hall as H.Q. " Chief said to his youngest " Let's go, gang. Christmas came early, but it didn't stay long. "

Everyone left and Cody got the com tab then wheeled to the hall were the townsfolk were.

" Dad, there's a five-car pileup by the drive-in. " Cody said through the com

" We're on it. " Chief said

" Cody, it looks like the bridge is turning into solid ice. " Dani explained

" Kade and Heatwave are going to get salt for the roads. I'll send them over.
And maybe you should shut down the bridge, in the meantime. " Cody replyed

" We're on our way. " Dani said

" And Dani, can you and Blades do a flyover by the river and check on Frankie? " Cody asked

" Just saw her don't think you need to worry. " Dani said

" Cody! I'm glad you called. I changed my mind. I love your snow. You have to come down here and try this. " Frankie yelled through the com

" Uh, love to, but I'm a little busy right now. I'll let your Dad know you're okay. " Cody said

" Tell him to come down, too. Hey, if this keeps up, we could sell hot chocolate. See you later. " Frankie said as another idea came to mind

" Bye. " Cody said

" I was just thinking, wouldn't it be a good idea to close both ends of the bridge? " Blades asked as a car came down from the other side

" How about I keep an eye on the other side? " Heatwave said stopping the car

" This will take quite a while to plow through even for your vehicle. " Doc said

" But not for my robot. Boulder, transform and dig. " Graham said

" Graham, city hall's roof is caving in. I'm sending you pictures. " Cody explained as wood came down in front of him and he had to wheel back a bit

"Looks like at least four tons of snow up there. That roof won't hold much longer. Are people still inside? " Graham said as he looked at the picture

" Yeah. People and me! " Cody yelled

" Cody, get out! Get everybody out now! " Graham yelled back

" You heard him. I'm out of here! I mean, uh, I'll lead the way. We're trapped! " The Mayor said while trying to get out

" All rescue teams, report to city hall. The roof's about to collapse! " Cody said while starting to panic

" Cody's still inside? " Chief asked

" Go! " the people said

" Hurry! Please vacate the premises in an orderly fashion. " Chase said

" Cody, come on. " Chief called to Cody
as Cody wheeled out of the building with his dad grabbing his chair and pushing him out faster

" Where's Boulder? I have an idea. " Cody said while looking at the com tab

" Let's talk about it outside. " Chief said

" Oh, Cody. What were you doing in there besides giving us a heart attack? " Dani said while hugging Cody

" I was trying to get a better view of the roof. " Cody said innocently

" What do you need to see? It's caving in. " Kade said not understanding why

" If Boulder can prop up the ceiling from the inside, it'll give us a chance to clear the snow off the roof. " Cody explained

" And prevent any more damage. Great idea, Cody. Boulder. " Graham finish understanding what Cody was getting at.

" Get us up there. The three of us could clean off that roof in no time. " Heatwave said

" No. Too risky. Your weight combined with the snow way more than the structure can handle. " Graham said

" Maybe we could melt the snow. You know, with a giant hair dryer or something. Or not. " Kade said shocking his family with another silly idea

" What we need is a way to get rid of the snow without actually going on the roof, like a giant snow blower. " Cody said

" What? Is there something on my cheek? " Blades said

" Ready to shake things up a little? " Dani asked

" I'm not sure I know what you I didn't even know I could do this. " Blades replied " Whoa! Did we do it? "

" We did. But now we better get you thawed out. " Dani said

" Your shift is up, Boulder. " Graham yelled

" Doc, how's the repair going? " Cody asked

" Cross your fingers. " Doc answered

" - Whoo-Hoo! - Yeah! - Yes! - Yeah! " the Burns yelled

" Frankie, your Dad did it. Sorry we had to break up your fun. " Cody said to Frankie as she called

" Uh, that's not all you broke up. I just invented a new sport, and I'm not so sure I like it. " Frankie yelled through her phone

" Dad, this emergency's not over yet. " Cody said

" Rescue bots, roll to the rescue! " Heatwave yelled

" Dani, we need Blades to airlift Frankie out of the river. What's your status? " Cody asked

" Grounded. Blades is still iced up from our last flight." Dani explained

" I'm trying, but my swashplate just won't defrost. " Blades said

" If you get a moment, I wouldn't mind the help. " Frankie yelled when they got there

" I'm gonna hit that. " Boulder said softly then throw a snowball at th tree

" The human word for that is "whoo-hoo!" " Cody said

" I wouldn't want to do it again, but that was awesome! According to practically every law of physics in nature, that should not have worked, but thanks. " Frankie said while hugging Cody then walked of to go home

" Where did Chase go? " Cody asked

" HAHAHA I think I understand now. " Chase said

" So, summer is summer, and winter is winter when everybody's ready for it." Boulder said now understanding seasons more

" Like my Dad says, "there's a time and a place for everything. " And I think the best time and place is here and now! " Cody explained as he and Boulder throw snowballs at Heatwave

" Oh. " Heatwave said as he looked at Cody and Boulder

" What? Ha " Cody say as he looks up innocently

" Would that be an "oops" or a "whoo-hoo"? " Blades asked

" That would be a run " Cody said as he quietly wheeled away to the left to escape the hand of Heatwave while Boulder just looks confused to why Cody ran then he turn to a mad Heatwave and Transformed and B-lined out of there.
