I Got You Heatwave x Protective!taller!femme!reader

Requested by Emo_girl3365 sorry that I couldn't add everything to wanted into it, I missed a few details, but I hope you like it

Y/n sat in the bunker, reading a book silently. You did not read alike to Chase, however. You preferred to sit in a corner and read fiction in silence, reading of the wonders humans have come up with, always astonished by the fictional beings they had. Being so large, the concept of humans having being like humans were to Cybertronians was odd, but also brought a sense of connection. Thus, stories of fairies and ogres and other fantasy creatures with such a wide range in size was fascinating.

As you read into a scene where the main character was lost in a cave, searching for a way out as rocks began to fall, you began to think you were getting too indulged in the book, until you heard a voice scream that wasn't the voice they had pictured the main character with. Now curious of what the sound truly was, you put down the book(not without putting in a bookmark of course) and headed towards the main area in the bunker.

There Heatwave sat, curled up in a blanket and watching a movie with a cave being a setting and plot point. He curled into the blanket tighter as the main character wandered lost in the collapsing cave. Everyone else was out, Dani and Blades went for a flight, Chase and Chief went for patrol that was to be followed by a picnic and brought Cody along, and Graham and Boulder were in Blossom Veil. It wasn't until Heatwave brought his knees up to his chassis, curling his servos around them that you approached him, sitting down next to him in silence.

At the couch dipping in next to him, Heatwave snapped his helm towards you, optics anxious until they landed on you, growing soft once they did. You let out a soft chuckle at his reaction, he always was so cute. He may have been insecure about how he'd anxiously space out, but you thought it was adorable to see him get lost in his own world, his emotions finally showing in his optics clearly when he did so.

Heatwave regained your attention when he leaned his helm on your shoulder plate, you instinctively wrapped your arm around his frame when he did so as you looked down at him, smiling. Kissing his helm, you sneakily got a hold of the remote and turned down the volume as he slowly fell into recharge.

Once he was fully in recharge, you picked him up and carried him to his berthroom, laying him down gently and tucking him in, kissing him on the helm and saying goodnight before leaving.

You went back to reading your book, and eventually everyone came back and all the humans went to bed, the bots doing their same, however you stayed up a bit longer to read your book.

You had just finished a chapter that ended well enough to satisfy you for the night, and slid in your flame themed bookmark before closing the book and quietly making your way towards your berthroom, as you were sure everyone else was asleep.

As you passed Heatwave's room, you heard a muffled sound that made you stop for a second, turning your audio receptors up. Before you even picked out the sound, a cold feeling crawled up your backstruts that made you slowly turn the knob, making sure to open the door silently in case he was just recharging. What you saw made your spark feel like it cracked a little.

Peeking in, you saw Heatwave curled with his knees to his chassis, one servo wrapped around his faceplate, while the other cupped over his intake to silence himself, lubricant running out of his optics and down his faceplates.

You immediately opened the door wider, approaching him as he looked up to see you walking towards him, his optics widening in slight shock. Pulling him into an upright position so that he leaned against your chassis as you stroked the back of his helm with one servo while the other rubbed soft soothing circles in his backstruts.

He cried softly into you, eventually calming down to a few hiccups and sniffles, which is when you asked him what was wrong.

"I... I was back on Cybertron... my entire family was... dead... I couldn't stop it... I couldn't save them..." he spoke into your chassis, lubricant welling in his optics again, "w-what if the same thing happens with us? What if... what if I can't do anything?"

"It'll be ok my love, I promise we will be alright" you assured him, holding him closer and rocking back and forth softly. You noticed he was looking at his desk, so you brought your attention to the photo on the desk. It was you and Heatwave, a spark test showing two lines on it and the biggest grin you've ever seen on Heatwave's faceplates, his optics absolutely lit up with joy, your face held the same features, except lubricant silently streamed down your cheeks at the happiness. You pulled him in closer.

"I promise Sweetspark, we'll both be able to protect the little one when the time comes. And it won't be any danger yet, the sparkling is too small for damage to be able to reach it, and no one else knows. I'll protect both of you, I promise" you assured him, kissing his forehelm.

As much as you knew he acted like such a big tough mech, deep down he needed to be cared for, protected, made to feel safe and understood. He always wanted a femme that could provide that for him, but he knew that most femmes would expect him to provide that rather than receiving that comfort at all. You had always had the same problem, your protective instincts drove mechs away, as it tore them of their masculinity. You wanted a mech who would let his emotions show, at least in front of you. You wanted to protect, provide and comfort, but most mechs expected femmes to sit back, receive that protection, be given what they need, and obey in turn for that. You were by no means a fan of the concept, and neither was Heatwave.

It wasn't a complete role reversal, you were both strong and independent, while vulnerable and open to each other. You instinctively took on the role Heatwave needed, whether that was to protect or feel protected, which was perfect for his ego which seemed to come like mood swings if you didn't see the pattern.

One day he'd want to be held in your servos and kissed on the forehelm, resting against your chassis, and the next he would want to hold you in his servos protectively, not letting you go, and hardly smiling. After a while of being annoyed with him you figured out the reasoning, he needed to be cared after and looked out for to feel loved, but whenever something made him remember his family which he lost, he would become overly protective of you, both out of fear and to push that pain away, trying to validate himself when those memories pushed him down.

Spacing back into reality, you saw him falling back into recharge slowly, a gentle smile adorning his faceplates and optics locked on the photo, his servos were wrapped around you tightly, still afraid of letting you go. You laid down with him, knowing that you wouldn't be going back to your own berth tonight. Despite being mates, you two had been given separate rooms. Both out of not knowing you two formed a relationship in such a romantic form until everything was settled, and to avoid the very situation you would be faced with in the near future.

Not taking anymore time to bask on the subject, you kissed your sparkmates helm one last time before falling into recharge yourself.

~~~Next Day brought to you by Chase dancing with a clown wig in that one episode~~~
You woke up to slight shuffling next to you, looking down to your precious mechs helm, as a result of your height difference. Kissing his forehelm softly, you slowly started to get up. Once you were out of his berth, you grabbed your book and headed to your own berthroom before getting ready for the day, not wanting to give the others the wrong idea(ironically)
~~~tiddle bit of a time skip~~~

You pulled into the garage after a patrol, letting Cody out as you had brought him along. Since you had no designated driver, Chief had presented you as a more highly programmed bot, capable of doing its own patrols and acting on its own when put into that mode, and also programmed to take orders from any of the Burns', alongside being able to evaluate whether or not to follow orders given by someone else. As a result of this, you often got to take Cody for patrols, which helped him feel more included. You had no driver because all licensed members of the Burns family had partners already. To compensate, you had scanned a multi-purpose vehicle, allowing you to act in several areas. You had never been distinctively trained as a rescue bot, but throughout war you became a Jack of all trades in a sense, ranging from battle tactics to all forms of rescue work and medical care. You had never been a violent bot, resulting in you having more training in rescue and medical areas, thus your placement on earth, it also meant you were larger than the rest.

After letting Cody out, you transformed and looked over to see your beloved hothead arguing with the annoying hothead. You walked over to ask what they were talking about, but what you heard answered your question.

"Why are you even here anyways?! It's obvious you don't like it, just go back to your frickin' planet!" Kade questioned angrily, well aware that Cybertron was dead.

"Because I'm here to protect your family, along with everyone else on Griffin Rock!" Heatwave snapped back, leaning forward with his servos clenched into fists, about to get in Kade's face, but stopping at his words.

"I bet you couldn't protect a family if you tried!" You couldn't believe the words that came from Kade's mouth. Heatwave stopped in his tracks, before leaning forward again with a much more threatening posture, until he pulled himself away, turning around and storming out of the fire house, heading behind it to go into the woods. You very quickly followed him, giving Kade a glare that could kill before doing so.

Walking alongside Heatwave until the both of you were in the woods and out for sight, you stopped him, turning him to face you. When you saw the lubricant streaming down his face like it had the night before, you scooped him up into your arms and sat down with him on the edge of a pond in the woods. Holding the crying mech in your lap and against your chassis, you again soothed him gently, letting him rest against you in silence for a bit after. Wanting to comfort him in the way he needed, you were not the one to break the silence.

"What if Kade is right? What if... I can't protect you or our sparkling?" He asked, sadness evident in his vocals.

"It'll be ok Sweetspark, I can handle anything this world throws at us. I got you"
