Chapter 11 - Encounters

A/N - Okay my Lovelies, I'd rate this one as slightly mature, but not explicit, and I've noted where it begins.   It's getting warmer in here.... :).  I hope you like it!!

___***____

She started the day off early, too eager to sleep in.  After grabbing a quick breakfast, she went to find Chewie and let him know of her plans to head for Christophsis for the day.

Of course, she found him working on the Falcon, tinkering with a part on the hyperdrive.

"Hey Chewie, is she okay to fly today?"

He trilled back that he'd be done in 15 minutes, but wanted to know where she was going.  He barked back unhappily when she told him – having already promised to take Leia on an errand later that afternoon, as he didn't want Rey to go to Christophsis alone.

"Don't worry Chewie, I'll be fine.  It's a simple trek and I can take care of myself."  She smiled. "This trip is kind of a pilgrimage anyways.  Finding one's own Kyber crystal is a big deal, so I really should be going alone anyhow."  Or with my Master, she thought.  Except I don't have one any more.

He replied with a disgruntled sounding yipping growl and a chirp, telling her that he wasn't too happy with her logic.  She hugged him, told him not to worry, and reassured him that she'd be back soon to depart.  She just needed to find Poe first to let him know where she was going. Somebody else on base needed to know where to find her, just in case.

About an hour later, she excitedly departed for Christophsis.  The trip would take a couple of hours, which would hopefully give her enough time to find the caves, find a crystal or two, and get back to the ship before dark.

During the trek, she thought about Ben, and how he'd finally told her why he'd stayed away, relieved to be back on normal footing with him once again.  She also recalled how he'd helped her train yesterday.  Was he becoming her Master?  She wasn't sure she wanted that.  There was so much more she needed to learn with no one to teach her.  What other options did she have though?  She sighed.  That was something that could be figured out later.

Entering the planet's atmosphere was breathtaking.  The crystal planet was beautiful, and Rey loved seeing the colours of new environments – as long as they weren't sand.  As she went in low for a landing, she targeted an area near a mountain range, figuring that the crystal caves would likely be there.  Once she landed, she grabbed her gear, and headed toward the foothills.

After hiking for about an hour, the terrain became rockier, and she soon came upon an opening that looked like a cave.  Something told her to keep going though, so she continued on.  The terrain in this area was much steeper and rockier than the lower foothills, and walking became more and more difficult.  About a half hour later she came to another cave opening, and got an excited feeling in the pit of her stomach.  This was the one – she knew it – the Force was telling her to go in!  She pulled out a flashlight, and slowly entered the cave.

The entrance was dark, but gently sloped, and easy to maneuver.  She walked through a narrow passageway, steadily heading downward, for about 15 minutes until she came to a large open cavern.  As she entered, she gasped.  The cave was alight – glowed – with hundreds of crystals. Most were located together in clusters, and shone with different colours that radiated from deep within their core.

Rey dropped her pack, and walked around the cave, gazing in wonder.  It was so beautiful.  She wished Ben were here.......

She wasn't quite sure how she was supposed to choose.  A passage in one of the Jedi Texts said that one's own crystal would speak to them.  She sat down, closed her eyes, and tried to meditate.  Her mind was so excited that it took several minutes to calm it.   Eventually she started to find her inner self, where she was completely focused....

"Wow."  Said a voice from behind her, causing her to jump.

Ben was standing behind her, gazing up at the cave walls.  "Hi."  She said, with a huge grin. "What are you doing here?"

"You called me."  He said nonchalantly, giving her a slight shrug. "Its beautiful in here."

"Yes it is."  she responded, tilting her head to watch him in the glow of the crystals. "But what do you mean I called you?  I did no such thing!"

"You did.  I was in a meeting, and then I felt it.  You wanted me here.  So I came."

He made it sound so simple.

"I still don't understand.  You felt that I wanted you here?  Through the bond?"

He just nodded.

"And you were in a meeting?  And you just left?  To come here?  To me?"  she was dumbfounded, her face clearly showing her surprise.

"It was tedious."  He shrugged again, face reddening.

She laughed incredulously. "Ben Solo!  You can't just leave a meeting because you're bored!"

"You can if you're the Supreme Leader."  He answered, the corner of his mouth turning up slightly in a wry look.

She shook her head, still smiling. "OK.  So tell me how I can learn to feel or hear when you call me?  I don't think I've ever heard or felt anything from you that would be considered to be a call of any sort.  Other than maybe the occasional spike of annoyance or some other emotion."

"That's because your thoughts and feelings are an open book, and mine aren't."  he said simply.

She sat there, confused for a minute, until she realized the meaning of what he had just said. What she had suspected, but he had just confirmed for her. "Wait – are you saying you can – have been – blocking your end of the bond?"

He looked away uncomfortably.  "You have been!  And you never told me?  And my end's been completely open!"  she was positively furious! "You asshole!"

He flinched, knowing she was really pissed at him this time, responding quickly.  "I'm sorry.  I should have told you – explained how it could be done."

Her eyes narrowed to slits. "And why didn't you?"

"Because I was being selfish."  He said on a sigh, raking his hands through his hair.

She just raised a brow, crossed her arms and sat there, waiting for him to continue.

He looked down at the ground before quietly saying.  "I know I shouldn't have.  I invaded your privacy.  But I....I like being able to feel what you're feeling.  Hear what you're thinking."  He paused. "It makes me feel closer to you.  A little less.....alone."

Rey's heart stuttered and her anger evaporated.  Yes, what he did was wrong – she was still disappointed that he did it.   It was an invasion of privacy.  But he did it because he was lonely. She could imagine doing the same to him if his thoughts had been open to her.  If their roles were reversed, she probably wouldn't have told him either.

She got up, walked over to him, and took his hand in hers. "I accept your apology."

His head snapped up, and his eyes found hers, his face showing the shock he clearly felt.

She gave him a small smile. "As long as you promise to teach me how to do it."

He breathed a sigh of relief and leaned his forehead on hers. "Yes.  Rey I-"  she brought her fingers up to his lips to stop him.

She moved her hand over to his cheek, and he leaned into it.  Both became lost as they gazed into each other's eyes.

It was completely silent in the cave, except for the occasional drips of water that could be heard echoing in the distance.  Eventually, Rey became aware of a melodical whispering.   "Do you hear that?"  She looked around, trying to focus on where it was coming from.

Kylo's lips quirked up in a small smile. "What do you hear?"  he was pretty sure he knew what it was.

"I think....its like a....a song?!"  she sounded confused.

He was still smiling at her. "Rey – that's your crystal calling to you."

Her face lit up.  "My crystal?"

He nodded, and gave her a gentle nudge toward one of the cave walls.  "It's here.  All you have to do is go find it."

She threw herself into his arms, her grin still huge, and gave him a quick kiss. "I'm so glad that you're here!"  she grabbed his hand excitedly and tried to drag him over to the wall with her.

He tugged her back and gave her knuckles a soft kiss, shaking his head. "Go.  This is your task – only you can hear it. I'll be right here."

She wandered over to the wall, and closed her eyes, trying to focus – trying to find where the song was loudest.  She stopped in front of one area of the wall.  "Its over here somewhere."

"Just hold out your hand and focus.   Picture the saber you intend to build.  Now use the Force to call it to you."

Ben watched her concentrate.  She looked beautiful in the glow of the crystals.  As she continued, he watched not just one, but two crystals pop off of the wall face, and float down into her waiting hand.

She opened her eyes and looked down at her hand in awe, turning to face him as she did. "Two! It gave me two crystals!  How did it know?"

He shrugged in answer.  "The Force works in mysterious ways.  It knows the saber you're supposed to build. - the one it wants you to build."

She gazed across the cave at him, a multitude of emotions washing over her.  Her heart was pounding in her chest.  He was here with her, sharing in one of the most important moments of her journey in the Force.

His eyes never left her as she walked over to him, palm still extended, to show him her crystals. He placed one hand below hers, and examined the crystals with the other. "They're beautiful. They'll make a strong saber."  His eyes flicked back up to hers.

She closed her hand over the crystals and dropped them into her pocket.  Looking back up at him, she placed her hand on his chest - his eyes flicking down at her hand touching him.  "Thank you for being here.  For coming when I called you – even if I didn't know I was doing it."  She paused. "Earlier, when I first got here, I just thought... I wish Ben were here...".

One arm wrapped around her, drawing her close, while the other stroked her cheek, and her breathing stuttered.  Unable to resist any longer, he leaned down to kiss her, whispering throatily. "I'll always come when you call."

Electricity sparked when their lips touched.  Rey's arms slowly wound around his neck and he pulled her tighter.  Their kisses started soft, gentle, and a little tentative, but soon deepened to something more.  His hands leisurely stroked down her back, and up into her hair, his fingers gently threading through the strands and massaging at the base of her neck, eliciting a soft moan from her.  Upon hearing it, he shuddered and exhaled sharply, before pulling her even tighter against him, his kisses and hands becoming hungrier and a bit more urgent.

As with their first kiss, she simply melted against him when his lips touched hers, and her brain turned to mush.  Her hands moved up to thread through and lightly tug on his hair, then down over his shoulders and back up over his jaw, gently holding his face to hers.  She felt his fingers caressing her neck and scalp, and the pleasure that raced through her caused her to moan.   His answering shudder shot a jolt of desire through her, and her knees turned to jelly – thankful that his arms tightened around her.

Their soft, but hungry kisses went on and on.  Both were lost to the newfound closeness and bliss they were feeling, happy and relieved to at last be in each other's arms.  The Force flowed between them, seeming to pulsate pleasantly, as each of their essences wrapped around the other, light balancing dark.  The crystals in the cave began to glow brighter around them, emitting a soft humming sound.

When they breathlessly broke apart a few minutes later, still holding each other tight in their embrace, they looked around the cave in wonder.  Rey was spellbound.  "What are they doing? They seem different from when I first got here."

Kylo was stunned.  He had never heard of Kyber crystals behaving like this.   "I'm not sure."

"Have you ever heard of them doing that?  That extra bright glow?  That humming sound?"

He shook his head, his breathing still erratic, a little awestruck himself.  "I don't know why we can both hear them.  This is something different."

"I think we're something different."  She laid her head on his chest, inhaling deeply, feeling more happiness and contentment than she ever had before.  After a few minutes, something in the air shifted, and she could feel him start to fade.  "Goodbye Ben...."

Left feeling empty, she gathered her things, took one last look at this memorable cavern, and headed back to the surface.

She was still thinking about it much later that night while lying in bed back at the base.  When she fell asleep, she dreamed of him.  And THAT is when the trouble really started....

Kylo smiled as he lay in bed thinking of Rey and their experience in the cave.  She had been so beautiful in the glow of the crystals, so enthralled with them, and with the two that ultimately chose her.

And then there were their kisses, and how the crystals responded to them.  That was definitely weird.  It seemed as if the all the crystals in the cave were singing to them both, and they glowed very brightly as the two of them had kissed.  He'd never heard any stories of Kyber crystals reacting like that, where more than one person could hear them.  Then again, historical accounts on this may be a bit sparse, he thought sarcastically.  Given the Jedi's beliefs on attachments, there probably weren't a lot of times – if any - where people were kissing in a Kyber-crystal cave.

He thought of how they had kissed, and their growing passion for each other.  Whenever they touched it was like electricity sparked and fire ignited between them, flaring hot.   Exhaling sharply, he felt himself grow hard as he remembered how good it felt to have her pressed against him, their lips softly pliant but hungry against each other's.  And when she ran her fingers through his hair, it made his whole body tingle.  Squirming slightly, he resisted the urge to run his hand along his hard length.  He blew out a hard breath, as if that could expel the desire for her, the need running through his blood.  Trying to get his mind off of her, he turned his thoughts to mundane matters he needed to deal with the next day.

It took him a long time to finally drift off into sleep, and he only slept a few hours until he was awakened by something.  He blinked, listening in the dark for any noises, when suddenly he could make out the sound of rhythmic breathing beside him.  His head snapped to the side, and a silhouette was visible next to him in the dim glow of the nighttime lighting.  Sure enough, Rey was sound asleep beside him, in his bed on the Finalizer!

Kylo had figured out that he could connect the bond by thinking about Rey and focusing on her Force signature.  So, Rey must have been thinking about him in her sleep.  He smiled.  Maybe she was dreaming of him.  She was on her side, facing him, legs bent and curled up a bit.  He didn't want to wake her.  No, that would probably not go well.  He had a feeling that she would likely be frightened if she woke up in his bed if he was awake with her.

Cautiously, he reached out and very gently stroked her arm.  She was so soft, and the feeling he got when he touched her was indescribable, almost as if he could feel the Force vibrating beneath his fingertips when he did.  He pulled his hand back swiftly though, as she mumbled something in her sleep.  She suddenly rolled closer to him, flung her arm over his torso and casually threw her leg over his hips.  It took Kylo a second to process her new position.  Rey was essentially curled around his side, with her hand on his chest.  Her thigh was dangerously close to his groin, which was also springing to life.  He held himself as still as possible, and gritted his teeth.  While he would've killed to have her in this position willingly, if she woke up to find herself like this she'd probably blame him – and try to kill him as well!

He decided to try to meditate – to help cool the fire that that was suddenly flowing through his veins.  He breathed deeply, but had trouble focusing.  He could smell her scent again, and his still hard shaft twitched.  Sighing, he knew there was no way he'd be able to calm himself with her like this.  She was warm, she was wrapped around him, and she was Rey.

Still, he kept trying, and thought the meditation was working for a few minutes, but then he could hear her breathing change.  She started to move her hand around on his bare chest.  He was stunned – was she asleep, or not?  Then he began to realize.  Holy shit!  She was dreaming. About him.  And she was caressing him!  His breathing began to speed up, and he balled his fists at his sides.  But then he could feel her hips moving ever so slightly at his thigh, and he was completely lost.  She was gently grinding herself against his hip, and he knew that this was part of his torture for all the wrongs he had done in his life.  When she made a small mewling sound, he couldn't bite back his own groan.  He was so aroused, her small sound of pleasure shot through him and he simply couldn't help himself.

He brought his hand up and began gently caressing her back, then down over her bottom.  He did this over and over again – his touch as light as a feather.  His own breathing was getting heavy as the feel of her body wrapped around him and her unknown, but soft touch fueled his arousal.  Her movements on him became more aggressive – and her hand began wandering everywhere.   Up to his neck and into his hair, then back down his chest and to his abs.  When she slipped lower, he unconsciously bucked into her hand as it passed over his throbbing erection, and he couldn't hold back the groan that went with it.

She continued her grind against him, and he could feel her soft lips now kissing his shoulder.  Her movements on him had gotten much harder, and she was now breathing deeply and moaning loudly.  He felt her teeth nip at his shoulder and a deep shudder of pleasure coursed through his entire being.  Her hand kept up its wandering pace, moving back up to his chest, and then down over his member once again.  This time, her fingers gently closed over it through his loose sleeping pants, as she ran her hand down, and then back up again, causing his head to arch back on the pillow, and him to bite back his own loud moan.  His breath began coming out in pants, and he couldn't hold his hips still as she continued to rub him.  He was in heaven and hell at the same time – clenching his teeth trying to keep his own sounds of pleasure contained so as not to wake her.  Suddenly, Rey's moans got very loud, and she let out a keening cry of pleasure.  Kylo could feel her shudder against him.  At this, Kylo's hips bucked again, and that was all it took for him to find his own release with almost a shout.

At his shout, Rey's eyes snapped open, and her shocked gaze flew to his just as she disappeared. Kylo lay there in the dark for a few minutes, trying to calm his breathing.  He was definitely going to Hell, and Rey was certainly going to be the one who sent him there.  Probably tomorrow, or the next day.  But as he lay there, he couldn't help but think it was worth it.

With a grin, he hauled himself out of bed and to the 'fresher to clean himself up.
