SUMMARY: Hermione Jean Granger was known as the brightest witch of her age and definitely did justice to her time at Hogwarts. But what about the time before she joined Hogwarts? This is the story of how Hermione's life may have been before she joined Hogwarts.

REVIEW:
I'll start of by saying that this is quite exceptional as we don't actually consider Hermione as an underrated character, fanfiction-wise. However, since she is the protagonist of this story, we'll just turn a blind eye to it this one time.

Hermione's character wasn't as developed as it could have been, unfortunately. You centre the story almost exclusively on her hunger for knowledge instead of her actual personality, so that's something you could maybe work on to make her deeper and perhaps more Hermione like.

Now for her parents, it is quite complicated to tell if they're well portrayed or not since they were barely mentioned in the books, which means that you can pretty much write them however you feel. I just personally believe that they really passed this avid want for knowledge to their daughter and that they were the ones to push her to read a lot and to always learn something-in your story, they're kind of passive about her intelligence, while really I think they would have praised her for getting called a know-it-all, they would have pushed her in her reasoning, pushed her to really learn as much as possible. You can maybe put that aspect forward.

Otherwise you did portray them very well as the loving parents they were, and that's really good!
