Fells looked around semi-curiously as they walked through the town of Farpoint rested just beside the Sky Army base. People looked at them as they walked down the street and Jade wasn't sure if they were staring at his wings, the two brown horns at the top of his head, or the unconscious blonde Italian in his arms.
"What year is it?" Fells asked.
"Erm... 2015." Genesis said. "Why?"
"Hm." Fells hummed, still looking around. "The last time I walked on solid ground was... 1612."
Jade choked.
"1612?!" Genesis asked incredulously. "That was over four hundred years ago."
"Indeed, Genesis, very astute of you to notice." Fells said.
Genesis huffed, mildly agitated at the borderline rude comment. "Listen here you mister angel guy, I'll have you know-"
"I am not an angel. I am a Valkyrie."
"A... A Valkyrie? I thought those didn't exist!"
"Obviously, your thoughts have deceived you."
"But that's... Valkyries are the servants of Demigods in the Demist religion, so does that mean - does that mean Demigods are real too?"
"Indeed."
"You've lost me." Jade said.
"Do not worry, Jade Magellan." Fells said. "All will be explained soon. But first, your yellow friend must be treated for the wounds in her legs."
"Her legs? What's wrong with her legs?" Jade asked.
Fells looked down at Saramelia, still out cold in his arms. "Her upper shin bone and two vertebrae have shattered. She must seek medical attention."
Jade stared at him in confusion.
"I'll take her, Jade, you figure out who this guy is." Genesis took Sara from him with a huff and went ahead into the base after Jade had nodded agreement to him.
She and Fells stared after him before looking at each other. "So... You're a Valkyrie?"
Felladere nodded. "You desire answers to your questions, do you not?"
"Please."
"I admire your manners, Jade Magellan. Do you have a place for us to speak?"
"Yeah! Follow me."
The house they walked into was big; not so big as a mansion, per say, but just as big as a house in Farpoint could be. It was on Manor Road, the most high class neighborhood in town.
Her family, the Magellans as it were, even had a maid to serve their needs. It would have been a butler, of course, but since three fourths of the Magellan family was female, the figured a woman servant would be more suitable to their collective needs.
"This is a big home. All for you?" Fells asked as Jade led him through the large house.
"No, no, of course not. In fact, if it were up to me, I wouldn't live here at all; I'd live in the base, like the rest of the recruits. But since there are only so many dorms, those who live in Farpoint have to stay in Farpoint. So the base can have room for more recruits. I don't like living in such a big house; it's creepy."
"So this is a family home." Fells said, as they walked into the parlor. "How large is your family, to need so much living space?"
"Actually, my family is kinda small." Jade said, before gesturing to the couch. "You can sit here."
The Valkyrie nodded his thanks before he almost Fells fell into a sitting position on it, breathing out. Jade blinked in surprise and only then realized that after sleeping for four hundred years, he must be achey.
"Would you like a drink?" She asked quickly.
Fells looked up. "...A drink of what?"
"I dunno, you pick. Water, milk, we got eggnog, Christmas is comin' up, y'know."
Fells shook his head. "I require no liquid sustenance, Jade Magellan."
"Well maybe you don't require it, but do you want it? Y'know, cause it tastes good? You Valkyries do have taste buds, right?"
Fells though this over. "...Milk please."
Jade smiled, before she walked out of the room to get him a glass. Felladere looked around him. It was strange being awake again. Nice... But very strange. He felt his systems still waking up, still starting to work properly. He wasn't breathing yet; although he didn't really have to breathe. In fact, he had no reason to breathe so really, why bother? He made a inner note to focus on more important things than breathing.
Jade came back in, setting a glass of milk on the coffee table in front of him before sitting beside him on the couch. She sipped her own glass of water. "So, answers. Why were you trapped down there?"
Fells nodded. "A predictable yet worthy question. You see, I am a Valkyrie, and Valkyrie have a rule; no emotion, no matter what. What happened to me four hundred and three years ago was that I developed an emotion; anger. Because the Demigod I serve was rather... Unfairly punished. When a Valkyrie develops an emotion they are sentenced to remain locked in a stone prison until the emotion fades away."
"So... You don't feel angry anymore? Even though I broke you out too early?"
"No, I don't."
"Who were those other Valkyrie who came after I released you?"
"They came because they sensed that I was released. The female was Archangel, the Valkyrie Demigod, creator of the Archangel world. The man was one of her more highly regarded soldiers, Pictomas. They were there to take me home, back to God's Realm, but... I do not wish to go home yet. I desire to become more familiar with earth the way it is now. Then I will return."
Jade nodded. "Right... So... The Demigods, Archangel, Realms... All that Demist shit is real, isn't it? The Universe is real?"
Felladere nodded. "The concept of religions truly confuses me. Why believe in something false when the only truth is simply the truth? No matter. Humans believe what they wish because it gives them hope; I suppose that is my religion, if I use the word correctly. I believe in hope."
Jade stared at him. "Well you're a poetic little shit, aintcha?"
"...I suppose so, yes."
Jade smiled. "Perfect, I like you already." She finished her glass just as the parlor door opened and a woman came in. She was carrying a purse, looking down at her phone which she was tapping viscously with her red-painted thumb.
"Yes, I kno - no, no, no! Are you kidding me? Don't let them in till I get there!"
Fells stared at her in confusion while Jade smirked a little. "Miss, who are you talking to?"
She didn't look at him, but held a finger up to him to signal him to be quiet, shoved her phone in her pocket, and looked at the wall as she continued speaking. "I don't care, I'll evict his ass if he tries to pull anything like that again. Make it happen, Donnie. Bye."
Finally, she looked at Fells, opening her mouth to speak before she tensed. She was staring at his wings. "...What..."
"Who were you talking to?" Fells repeated himself.
"Mom, this is my friend Felladere, I call him Fells." Jade said. "Me and my friends found him on a mission. He was in a cave as a statue and I released him."
"I... That's nice dear. I have to go to the Meijers' but you two have fun." She raised a hand in goodbye. "I'll be back before dinner, I promise!"
Jade just smiled as she left.
Fells turned back round in his chair and looked at her. "Jade Magellan, I am thoroughly confused."
"That was my mom, y'know, mother. Parental unit."
"I know what a mother is, I assure you."
"Well she works in real estate, selling houses to people. She's the landlady of one apartment building and one family is being really unruly. She just has to go sort it out."
"But who was she talking to?"
"She has a little phone in her ear that she used to talk to her coworker already at the apartment building."
"What is a phone?"
Jade snorted. "Oh boy... You have a lot to catch up on." She looked over at him, setting her glass down. "But first... You should probably get cleaned up. You look like you haven't showered before in your life."
"That would be because I-"
"Yes, I'm well aware."
