It's complicated.

"I've been thinking," Sero said that night, as they sat in Jiro's room before the allotted curfew when the students had to be in their separate rooms.

"Yeah?" Jiro asked.

"I've been thinking of what Kaminari said... 'You shouldn't have come'... there's something there..." Sero thought.

"What?" Jiro asked.

"Well, I'm thinking... why not just say 'you wasted your time' or 'this was pointless'... why 'you shouldn't have come?', I mean that just sounds like he's scared."

"I guess your right," Jiro agreed, "Where are you going with this."

"I've been thinking like crazy about this and somethings just don't make sense," Sero sighed leaning forward, "Look, why did the traitor - who has been hiding and concealing himself very well for a long time - suddenly show himself during a mediocre villain attack? I mean, Shigaraki didn't even show... so why the hell did he stand up, and expose himself if it wasn't a guaranteed fight? It's like... it's like he turned himself in..."

Jiro leaned back on her bed, deep in thought. "I hadn't even thought of that... why did he expose himself like that? I mean... I understand trying to knock us all out with a discharge... but he didn't even use his max and he didn't knock us all out!? You're absolutely right... he gave himself to the authorities! That's crazy!... Why would he do that?"

"I've thought about that too," Sero sighed, "Look, I figure that if Kaminari was forced into this... blackmail or whatever else, they'd want him somewhere where they can find him. Maybe, he discovered something, or maybe he knows too much and tried to get out of the League, so they blackmailed him again and got him to turn himself in and go to Tartarus."

"But they can't do anything to him... He's in Tartarus," Jiro repeated.

"Maybe..." Sero began, he leaned back trying to figure that out.

"Unless..." Jiro began slowly. Sero perked up curiously.

"Unless?" He repeated.

"Well, back to Kaminari and his 'you never should've come,'... what if the league has infiltrated Tartarus too?"

"That's crazy!" Sero announced jumping to his feet, "It's the most secure - most crazy prison ever -"

"And it holds the league's big boss," Jiro reminded him, "If I were them, I'd put people in there. I'd bide my time slowly... if they gain enough control... they could control the most dangerous inmates in the world," she said this with a shaky voice realization dawning on her.

"This... This is - this is huge. Like - All Might huge... like... bad bad bad," Sero breathed.

"But all we have are conspiracies... we need proof," Jiro sighed.

They sat in silence for a bit.

Then Jiro's phone beeped; it was her mother wishing her goodnight. Jiro quickly sent a reply and then put the phone down. Then Sero had a lightbulb.

"A cell phone!" he cried.

"What?" Jiro asked stunned.

"How was he able to contact the league!? He had to have a secret communications device."

"Yeah... how does that help?"

"If we can find it, we may be able to see old messages, and if we can prove that he was blackmailed with those messages - "

"Yeah, but how do we find it?"

"We do something that might get us expelled," Sero admitted slowly.

"You want to raid Kaminari's room," Jiro asked knowingly.

"Look, I know that the teachers searched it, but if Kaminari hid it in something that prevented seeking quirks from finding it, then it might be right under our noses." Sero looked to Jiro with a grimace, " And if Aizawa catches us... we're dead meat. His room's restricted..."

"Then we won't get caught," Jiro stated twirling her earphone jack.

"Well, I mean, one of friends is in Tartarus... we can't do any worse than that so... Kamianri's gonna have us beat either way," Sero smiled.

Jiro chuckled; the joke was a little too serious to be funny, but it was funny none the less.

They sneaked into his room and immediately Jiro plugged her earjack into the wall.

"Okay, we're clear for now," Jiro said in a whisper.

"Alright Denki, where did you hide it?" Sero muttered to himself looking around the familiar room. The room brought up painfully happy memories. So many times Bakugo, Kirishima, Sero, and Kaminari had been in that room messing around as all high school boys did.

"Where was he usually, like when you walked in on him?" Jiro asked still whispering.

"Over there," Sero answered pointing to the gaming console and T.V.

Jiro unplugged her earjack momentarily and walked over to the corner. "If he had stowed somewhere, it would be hidden here... somewhere... where he could - "

"What about an air vent?" Sero asked.

"I'm sure the heroes checked there," Jiro sighed.

"Not... if they didn't know what to look for," Sero said kneeling down to the air vent right next to the T.V.

"What do you mean?" Jiro asked.

Sero quietly took the air vent lid off the hole and felt the dusty metal in it. He stopped at a bump and pulled. A slim metal container slid out of a slit made in the wall, most likely by a knife. Sero studied the thin container and looked to Jiro.

"This slid in... never would've known it was there if I didn't know to look," Sero explained.

"What is it?" Jiro asked.

"I dunno," Sero shrugged.

"Here," Jiro said reaching for it, Sero relinquished it to her. She felt around until she found a sort of button, she pushed it and the container popped open to show a slim cell phone.

"Bingo," Sero stated.

"Exactly," Jiro nodded taking the phone out of the container. There was no case on it, no electric designs, it was a simple black cell phone; it wasn't anything that Kaminari had ever used in front of them. "This is it," Jiro nodded.

"Well, turn it on..." Sero beckoned.

Jiro hit the On button; nothing happened.

"Oh no," Sero sighed.

Jiro held the On button and a sad red battery appeared on the screen. It was dead.

"Come on," Sero groaned.

Jiro however, chuckled painfully, "I know its stupid... but I almost called for Kaminari... I'm just so used to having him charge my phone now."

"Hey," Sero chuckled, "That phone may get him back... we just gotta charge it."

The two walked to the door, Jiro listened carefully but heard nothing and so the two slipped out seemingly undetected...

...Seemingly.

Kirishima held his breath as the two ran down the hall and slowly he released it and peeked out of his dorm. The two had been in Kaminari's room... that was off-limits now... so they'd disobeyed orders. Kirishima gritted his teeth and looked down the hallway they had run down.

'What are you two doing?'

Jiro had scoured through her many chargers until she found one that would fit the phone. Then she plugged it in and the two sat and watched it charge.

"How long will it take?" Sero asked.

"I don't know," Jiro shrugged.

There was a knock and Jiro threw herself on the floor so that she was concealing the charger and the phone on the floor.

Kirishima walked in and looked at the two sitting on the floor.

"Hey," Kirishima greeted.

"Hi," Sero greeted.

"I was... I was..." Kirishima began. He was about to ask him about what he saw when suddenly he thought better. "I was worried about you guys. You got back from... there... and no one's seen you since... I was just asking if you two were alright?"

Sero and Jiro smiled.

"Yeah," Sero nodded, "We're good."

"He didn't say anything or - "Kirishima began his voice was full of concern and his eyes were so innocent the two couldn't help but smile.

"No," Jiro assured him, "we're fine."

"So... what are you two up too?" Kirishima asked.

"It's... It's complicated," Sero chuckled.

"Creating conspiracy theories," Jiro smiled.

Kirishima's next words caught in his throat. 'What are you two really doing?'

"If you two... if you two need anything, don't hesitate to tell me," Kirishima smiled.

"Thanks, bro," Sero smiled.

"No problem... bro," Kirishima smiled. He closed the door and stared at it. Why didn't he say anything?

For a moment, he saw Kaminari in his mind and he gritted his teeth. He'd been trying to suppress his feelings of betrayal but now he was beginning to feel something else; guilt. Guilt for not going to see him, not asking him why... for being so quick to accept it. He knew Sero and Jiro knew something but he was scared - what if they were wrong. What if they were only going to get themselves into trouble?...... And what if they were right?

'Please don't do something stupid,' he pleaded internally.

And secretly he made another plea, 'please be right...'
