37. Family Ties
After Yoongi had explained his and Jungkook's suspicion about Ellis, both Seokjin and Ellis stood there in complete silence. Seokjin eventually turned his gaze from Yoongi to Ellis, but Ellis was the one that eventually spoke first.
"Henley...she's out in the woods?"
Yoongi nodded, jumping a bit as Ellis suddenly sprung to her feet. She moved to walk back up the embankment and proceeded to walk towards where Seokjin had tied up the remaining vampire without saying another word.
"I take it she didn't particularly like hearing that news," said Yoongi as Seokjin sighed.
"I'll go talk to her. Stay with Jungkook."
Yoongi nodded as Seokjin moved to climb back up the embankment. He could hear the vampire protesting, but Ellis didn't seem phased at all. She smacked him over the back of the head with a hand, tightening the rope about him again after she had untied him from the tree. Seokjin couldn't help the small flicker of an amused smile that twitched across his lips.
"I know you're there. You're not very stealthy, your highness," said Ellis as she kept her back to Seokjin.
"I wasn't trying to be stealthy," said Seokjin. "I wanted to come talk to you."
"If it's about Henley..."
"What if it's just about the weather?"
This time it was Ellis' turn to have a smirk flicker across her lips as she allowed herself to turn and look at Seokjin.
"Lying doesn't become you, your highness."
"Neither does it become you, madame," said Seokjin. "I can tell Yoongi hit a sore spot. Are you and Henley..."
"We're sisters," said Ellis. "Twin sisters. I haven't seen her in a while and that's how it is going to remain."
"Why?"
"Try and keep up. You can probably figure out why."
"You have a twin sister?!" hissed the vampire in Ellis' custody. "I should just taste her blood as..."
"SHUT UP!" snapped Ellis and Seokjin at the same time.
"Just because you're a vampire doesn't mean you have to keep yourself away from her," said Seokjin. "Yoongi is a vampire too and he's been around her."
"You're very simple minded," said Ellis with a sigh. "It's painful. Family is different."
"Yoongi has become part of her family..."
"Has he bitten her?" snapped Ellis. "Has he married her even?"
"Well no..."
"Then that's not family. That's just a bunch of...bunch of pathetic losers that decided to shack up," said Ellis.
She paused to look back down the embankment at where Yoongi was still sitting with his arm about Jungkook, waiting for him to shift back.
"If you really are a prince, you know that mystical beings shouldn't be trusted," said Ellis. "I want you to take my sister away from all these mystical creatures. Do you understand me? It's not safe, especially right now with the impending war..."
"Impending war?"
"It's not for mortals," said Ellis as she flicked her gaze back to Seokjin. "Stay in your lane."
Seokjin fell silent for a moment as he looked at Ellis. He eventually reached into his pocket to retrieve a notepad and pen tucked there. He scribbled something down before ripping the page free and holding it out towards Ellis.
"What's this?"
"It's my number," he said. "You may think us mortals can't help, but you underestimate us."
"What makes you think I have a phone?"
"You seem like a woman that will find a way to do whatever she wants. If you want to call me and don't have a phone, you'll find a way."
Ellis flicked her eyes from Seokjin to the outstretched piece of paper before yanking it free from his grip. She quickly shoved it into the pocket of her cloak with one hand before turning her back on him again. She tugged the struggling vampire after her as she made her way back into the forest with him, soon disappearing from view.
Yoongi watched as Ellis disappeared, shifting his attention back to Jungkook when he felt him shift in his grasp. Yoongi let out a sigh of relief to see that Jungkook was now back in human form. Jungkook looked over at Yoongi, noticing the blood that stained his clothing.
"What happened?" asked Jungkook. "You're covered in blood."
"So are you," said Yoongi. "It doesn't matter now. What matters is that we're both fine."
"But you're scared of blood," muttered Jungkook as Yoongi cracked a small grin.
"The fear of losing my new family outweighs my fear of blood," said Yoongi.
Yoongi looked back up the embankment to where Seokjin still stood staring off into the trees. Jungkook turned his head to look in that direction too.
"Something tells me I missed something," said Jungkook.
- - -
"How dare he!"
"Would you seriously just calm down already? You act like he committed a huge crime or something."
"Well, he did! He stole my blanket! My treasured blanket!"
Hobi sighed as he sat there, watching Taehyung pace back and forth in front of him. Henley and Jimin sat side-by-side a little ways away as they too watched the spectacle unfold. A short while ago Seokjin - who had run off after the commotion they had all woken up to - had unceremoniously reappeared and stolen Taehyung's blanket off his sleeping form before disappearing back into the woods without any further explanation.
"I'm sure he had a very good reason for needing the blanket," said Hobi, "And I'm just as sure he'll bring it back."
"He'd better or I'll..."
Taehyung's voice trailed off as all four of them turned to look at a patch of trees when they heard branches cracking. Soon Seokjin, Yoongi and Jungkook emerged from the trees and into the clearing. Henley let out a sigh of relief at seeing both Jungkook and Yoongi, but it was short lived when she saw how bad off they both looked.
"What happened?! Are you guys okay?" asked Henley as she immediately left Jimin's side to go look over Jungkook and Yoongi in concern.
"We're fine," said Jungkook with a small smile as Henley looked them over. "It's not our blood."
"We'll explain things later," promised Yoongi. "Lets do it back at the country house though. I want nothing more than a warm bath."
"So that's what happened to my blanket," said Taehyung when he saw it wrapped about Jungkook's shoulders. "You'd better not be dying on it."
"I just said it wasn't our blood, genius," said Jungkook as Taehyung rolled his eyes, walking over and yanking it off Jungkook's shoulders to hug it tightly.
The chattering faded to the background for Seokjin when he heard his phone chirp. He dug it out and looked at the screen to see that it was a message from Namjoon. Opening the message up, his face soon became one of immediate horror; Jimin being the first to notice it.
"What happened, Seokjin?" asked Jimin, causing all the rest of them to lapse into silence.
"Namjoon...he's been kidnapped," said Seokjin as he turned the phone around so they could all see the screen, "And they said they won't let him go unless they have you, Jimin."
