"Pardon me Your Grace, but I have to tell you something very important."

The Queen stopped talking with one of the nobles as Taehyung came out of nowhere and interrupted them.

The female alpha glanced at Taehyung before scrutinizing Seokjin from head to toe.

"Do you have anything to tell me, Elder Prince?", she asked her son who could sense that the queen certainly didn't want her presence at that time.

"Yes....", Seokjin heard Taehyung's deep voice answering to his mother.

"We both want to discuss something with you.... Your Grace.", he continued.

Seokjin looked up at Taehyung, confused if he should be nervous about the queen's reaction or should be relieved by the mental support he was receiving from the young alpha.

The queen looked at Taehyung for a second and nodded.

"Excuse us then...", she said to the nobleman she was speaking to earlier.

Taehyung hesitated a bit.

"Your Grace, I think we should.... We should invite the other nobles to join us too. They deserve to be in the discussion. Its....Its about the announcement you made this afternoon.", he mumbled after clearing his throat.

"Its impossible.",was all the queen said after hearing the whole matter.

"The arrangements are complete, Younger prince is mentally prepared to get engaged and moreover,I am not going to take my words back."

Seokjin internally scoffed at his mother's stubborn words. This woman doesn't even care about her own daughter's happiness! And Jeongguk? He being "mentally prepared" for the engagement is nothing but a humorless joke.

"I beg your pardon,my Queen but I don't really think they want this marriage. It was...my fault that I didn't consider about Jennie's consent before serving the proposal to you. But,I've realized it now that we can not just force our decisions on them like this.",Taehyung calmly tried to convince the elder alpha.

"And who made you realize this all of a sudden, Duke Taehyung?!",the queen hissed while glaring at her eldest child.

Seokjin's jaw clenched.He have to do it for his siblings.For Jimin.For their happiness.

He took a deep breath and gathered all of his courage to confront his mother.

"Jisoo loves Jennie.And Jennie loves her back too.They've chosen each other as their mates,then why are we going to force any political agenda on them,Eomonie?! And to be honest, Jeongguk doesn't want this marriage at all.We need to stop this-",he reasoned but the queen cut him off.

"Who asked you to give your opinions?! I asked the question to Duke Taehyung then why are you interfering in our conversation?!"

Seokjin became stunned because of the amount of disrespect he was receiving infront of all of the nobles who were present in the meeting room.

His face became pale and his hands turned into fists as his mother continued spitting venomous words towards him.

"I should have known. You just couldn't stand the fact that your younger brother is getting a mate before you.You.You never really accepted Younger Prince's achievements! I shouldn't even have allowed you here in a meeting of Alphas,you ungrateful Ome-!"

"Your Highness!",The queen stiffened at the low and deep growl that escaped Taehyung's throat.

Everyone in the room gasped quietly at the sight of a raging Kim Taehyung.The queen's eyebrows furrowed. She should be offended by the tone the duke just used to talk to her;but she knows better.She is aware of the immense power that her favorite warrior contains in himself.

The whole room filled with pin-drop silence. Only some muffled sounds of the crowd present in the Royal hall were coming from outside.

Taehyung closed his eyes and took some deep breathes. As he finally looked straight at the alpha queen,his baritone voice echoed inside the silent room.

"I....I beg your pardon, my Queen. I am...I am upset about my sister. I'm extremely sorry about my behavior, Your Grace. I wanted to make the bond of our families even stronger but... if we continue this, it would just weaken our bond because... Forced relationships can only bring damage. And I'm afraid to lose the faithfulness that I have towards the throne if my sister's life becomes a mess. So I request you to cancel this engagement."

The Queen's eyes widened slightly.Did Taehyung; her most faithful noble just threatened her?!

"And Elder prince.....he deserved to be here in this discussion even more than me.He isn't an irresponsible brother like me.He knows what his siblings want and he'd go to any extent to give them their happiness.It may sound emotional but humans are not humans without emotions.Ignoring emotions would lead us to forget humanity and that,your Highness,would definitely not be good for our Kingdom,for...the throne .",he warned once again.

"I wouldn't have realized it if my prince didn't knock some sense into my mind;I admit it.And I'm thankful to him for that.Otherwise,I would've done a huge mistake and that would've affected both Younger Prince and Jennie's life;maybe even both of our families and even the future of the kingdom.",Taehyung kept his demeanor calm yet firm as he finished his point.

The Queen stared at the young alpha. The matter of fact was that she didn't have any other choice but to agree with him. Because, he had genuine reasons and if she still remained stubborn at her decision then all the nobles would go against her, which is certainly not wanted.

"I would take all the responsibility of this matter. I would be answerable to Younger Prince and all of the other nobles for this situation. I admit that all of this is my mistake.", Taehyung said as an assurance.

Seokjin's mother relaxed a little and nodded quietly before raising her voice once again.

"So we came to a conclusion. Very well! But the engagement wouldn't be canceled completely.Today,after the Younger Prince's coronation, Lady Jennie will be engaged with Princess Jisoo.And thats my final decision."

Taehyung bowed at the queen with a contented expression. Sighing in relief,he turned around to find Seokjin already rushing out of the room.

"Aren't you coming to see the coronation?"

Seokjin reminded himself that he hadn't breathed properly for a long time as Taehyung's voice rang in his ear.

He fisted his palms tighter as tears pricked at the corner of his eyes.

Taehyung stood beside Seokjin, putting his hands on the border of the balcony as the older didn't even spare a glance at him.

He looked at the omega who had a pained and flushed expression on his face,his palms fisted tightly.

So delicate.... Yet so strong!

He took one of the prince's hands and forced the fist open.

"I...I'm sorry.It...It all happened because of me.I'm sorry, my prince...please!",he begged as Seokjin tried to free his hand from Taehyung's grip.

The younger took the other hand of Seokjin and as he opened that fist too,he murmured a soft "Let it out...".

Seokjin whimpered and warm tears streamed down his cheeks.Taehyung clutched the sides of his own coat and chanted soft "Sorry"-s and "My Prince"-s as the omega leaned and buried his head into the crook of Taehyung's neck while crying his heart out;something that he had never done before infront of anyone.
