"what's gotten into you, miles?" i couldn't take it anymore regardless of the happiness he'd put up as a wall, i'd looked closer and out of the corner of my eye, i saw the sadness etched onto his face. he'd thought i wasn't looking.

his smile was too small to be genuine, his real smiles were big and full of strength. miles' smiles were normally goofier, "i found out something today."

"what's that?" my eyebrow rose at him, hoping he'd tell me the truth. the corner of my lip quirked up as a form of comfort.

he frowned at my constant questioning, his thumb was drawing circles on the back of my palm, "you care about me and you're amazing and i wanna be normal. with you, i can."

"miles-"

"you're cuter when you don't talk..." he said, hands resting on the sides of my face as he pulled me in for a kiss.

and that was when my phone rang.
