I saw you for the first time today.

I got on at the second stop and took the seat opposite to you - the last available seat.

I noticed you instantly - you stood out to me for some reason.

Your blonde hair sticking out of your peaked cap; your navy blue, adidas hoodie with the bright blue hood lining; your ripped jeans.

Everyone else was wearing some kind of uniform or suit, but not you.

Everyone had boring hair, but not you.

Everyone was smiling...

But not you...

It was then that an old lady came on and I gave up my seat instantly.

I had a grandmother who was very old... she reminded me of her somewhat.

I held on to the standing handle tightly until the train jolted violently and I felt my grip fail.

I was flung forward and shut my eyes, preparing to hit the ground or possibly the door to the next carriage, but that is not what I felt at all...

Warm arms wrapped around me, pulling my tumbling to a stop.

I looked up and saw you there, looking down at me to see if I was okay.

I smiled and thanked you but you didn't reply...

Could you not hear me? Was I too quiet? Maybe I should take off my headphones...

It then occurred to me that the train had pulled into a stop and someone had taken his seat.

I pointed it out to him and he helped me to stand, bowing his goodbye before getting off the train...

Curious...

Who are you?

Why didn't you talk to me?
