Chapter 2:A New Beginning
Chapter 2: A NewBEGINNING
The clock ticked.
It was time. A new student that could ruin or save us all. Had Hamia gone mad in the spirit realm for such a big bargain? A month had passed since Zeta arrived it wasn't easy trying to get on her good side since she was raised and born in the human side. She didn't know how dangerous she is but I must try.
I absently poked my lip with a pen when the door was yanked open as a familiar man strolled in. I gritted my teeth and glared at the dog. Zale plopped into the armchair and shot daggers at me.
'What do you want?' I snapped. 'Can't you see I'm working?'
He shrugged, leaned back on his chair and swivelled in glee .I rubbed my temples and counted to ten and sighed.
'I've been observing Zeta, the pup doesn't scare me because of her ignorance,' he stated. 'But Hamia's tree seems to accept her. It usually zaps people or uses a tough barrier but instead it embraced her and sang like a mom. Super creepy.'
'Is that all?' I pressed.
Zale nodded and scrambled for some documents. Then the phone beeped even though the caller didn't care how busy I was. I rolled my eyes as Zale chuckled. The most immature adult goes to...I preferred the agonising and oppressive silence. Zale had changed just like everyone had dreaded. But not like his dad but an irresponsible man. He was grumpy and irritated he hated staring at people and let his hair grow wild and he had a hobby. Taking care of Hamia's Jarcandna tree and gardening with my pack members. Oh, and also we merged our packs and built an academy.
And his infamous fits and rages.
I knew wolves held mates close to their hearts and I felt like a scapegoat. He sprang up to his feet, breathed heavily and glared at me with his glowing blue eyes.
Zale had grown taller, more muscular and let his brown hair grow wilder and messier. He was wearing a neat blue shirt and blue jeans.
'Stop,'I warned. My eyes flashed and turned to silts as I got ready to lunge. 'Control your wolf.'I repeated my voice low. I detested wolves and so did my kind. I wouldn't even hesitate to pin him down and snap his neck to an unstable male wolf but as Hamia's wish I would keep this cunt alive for 'peace'.
'You killed her!' He screamed.
'No.' I corrected, my voice soft. 'We both did.'
He punched the table as tears fell. Then he switched and yelled in pain. 'She would still be here if you could control yourself. You suppressed your spirit too much and you did want it wanted. To claim her. Her powers were drained and you killed her.' he pointed an accusing finger at me as I nodded slowly.
'No. You're right. The past is in the past.' I stated my voice emotionless as he growled. I kept calm but the truth hurts I contributed to her death but I kept denying it. We both had our fair share of mistakes instead of owning it. Now, she might've been unhappy with us so death felt like a better alternative. He crumbled to the floor and cried. I walked over to him as he sobbed harder.
This always happened. It was the new norm. He'd would scream or cry or pick fights. Shift and not return for hours or days but in a way he was jealous that I would get a second chance while he didn't. Life is unfair.
'Let's go,' I gestured. 'The assembly starts soon, ok.'
'Die, you cunt.' he spat and slapped my back as I smiled in relief.

We approached the field were teens poured in from all directions and formed lines differed and races and gender after mingling. Two familiar women scowled at us and crossed their arms looking pissed.
'Where the hell was you guys? You're late and it's already the first day.' Ares screamed, huffing at our faces as Turquoise shot daggers at me and tapped her watch. Ares hair had grown longer and she wore earrings now but Turquoise change was dramatic. She dyed her hair dark brown with blonde highlights and let her fizz to her waist. She said she wanted nothing to do with her white fur and powers.
I sighed. 'I'm sorry,' I said as Zale giggled but he stopped when Ares glared it at him. 'Fine, fine .Zale was having another fit. 'I whispered harshly, as the girls gasped. Turquoise tapped our shoulders and gestured with her eyes to the entertained crowd of eager teens. I sighed and climbed on the wooden podium not caring that I was pissed and Zale glaring at the kids to shut up. He was that intimidating. I grabbed the microphone and as the girls stood behind us and proud.
'Good morning students. My name is Mr Noah Franklin or Mr Franklin. I have hereby come to welcome you guys to our school. You students are a special group of people known as Specalis. Supernatural born with more power or an extra or humans born with a supernatural side. I am the one of the esteem heads of this school-' I gestured to Zale who cut me out. 'And I'm the co-principal of this establishment.'The students giggled and I gestured to my right, 'and this are your teachers who teach both magic and mundane subjects –'then I pointed to my right on the podium as Turquoise and Ares bowed. 'And these to lovely ladies are these P.E teachers and the administrators-'I smiled as each teacher said their name and the subjects they teach, 'I have some announcements. The tree is off-limits if you want to get zapped and Zale and I are not dating.'
'We hope you guys have an interesting year.' Zale announced happiness in his voice and clapped loudly that everyone laughed. And the best actor award goes to...
I looked around for a familiar face and Zeta must be confused and at the back. I didn't notice her or the wild commotion. My face was hard and devoid of emotion. I was in a military stance for no reason.
My mother's birthday was coming up so I was going to busy and I had to firmly make sure she picks her side. Students mingled with their peers and explored the school in groups or pairs but some students held hands and vanished to God knows where doing God knows what. I smiled remembering how it felt to be young again. At my right were teenagers who felt awkward and lonely. I sighed and walked to them. The students there were orphans or runaways as young as nine and the oldest at least twenty who were devoted to Sapphire because she embraced them with open arms.
