Unexpected visiter - Tragedy Pt. 8

(There will be a lot of talking in this one)

Lukas' POV

A small patch of fresh blood was soaked into the cement...

Me and Jesse starred at it in shock. The officer who had been knelt down stood up and greeted us. "Mr and Mrs Porter, I'm glad that you're here." He said in a calm approach. "What happened here?" I didn't want jump to conclusions, but I did want to get straight to the point.

"We don't know just yet, we only arrived a few short minutes before you. But we got a call from a young woman telling us that she had discovered this small bit of blood in this alleyway. We don't know much, but what we do know is that this blood just so happens to be in an area in between your house an the school that your children were walking to. It could be a coincidence, but if it's human blood, then there's a high likelihood of it being one of your children's." Jesse tightly closed her eyes for a moment upon hearing that. But the officer continued--"We're going to sample it, take some back to the lab, and in a matter of time we will know if it matches either Analiese's or James'." He explained.

I didn't know how to react exactly. I felt both scared and relieved at the same time. Relieved, because we have something that could help us find them maybe. But scared, because that means that they might have gotten hurt. Someone hurt my children. But they must not have hurt them too bad because although-wise there would be a lot more blood. "How long will it take to get a DNA results?" Jesse asked shakily. "It varies, but in a criminal case it can take 24-72 hours."
"What do we have to do?" I asked. I wanted to know if there was anything we could possibly do. Is there anything we can do in advance so that we could get answers sooner? I don't know... I just want to know what happened. I just want to see my kids again, unharmed. I just want this nightmare to over, for all of us. "Well, if you wanted, you could give us a DNA sample from yourselves immediately so that we could compare them sooner. That way we could give you results sooner." The officer told us. We immediately agreed without hesitation, giving them a hair sample from both me and Jesse. Other than that, they checked the dumpster nearby for anything else but there was nothing. They checked nearby alleyways and streets, they inspected abandoned buildings in the area, they inspected the rundown dollar store. They told us that evidence in crime scenes usually we in the same general area.

Yet we were once again empty handed... The only thing we really had was the blood and the information we already knew.

We left the scene, minds wondering with thoughts. We got in the car, driving toward home in silence. My mind began to race with questions. What happened in that place? There was no trail of blood, just a small bit of it. What did they do to draw blood? How did they draw blood? What did they use? There's no way it could've been a gun wound because people would have heard the gunshot and there would have been more blood. It couldn't have been a blade of any kind because there also would have been more blood. But my thoughts were cut off as I heard sniffling. I looked over at Jesse in the passenger seat, only to see her wiping her eyes and trying to contain her tears. She was clearly crying again, just like we both have several other times. I removed my right hand from the wheel and placed it on her left hand, in an attempt to comfort her. She looked up at me with her wet eyes to find me looking back at her. Her beautiful emerald-green eyes were once again clouded with tears. "It'll be okay..." I told her, giving her hand a slight squeeze. She gave me a small smile before wiping the rest of her tears away. It'll be okay...

We arrived home and sat down in the living room in silence. Yesterday Radar, Jess, and Petra all agreed to take over our jobs of running Beacontown for us for a few weeks. So not having much work to do, we could now focus our attention on the case. Thought, all we could really do was spread awareness. And we were apparently successful, evident by the knock on the door that evening.

*knock knock knock*

After hearing the knock, I looked up at the clock; 4:54. Now that our jobs as "Heroes in Residence" is taken care of by Radar, Jess, and Petra, so all appointments would fall on them. So it could only be friends, the police, or Petra, Radar, and Jess asking questions. But I doubt that it's any of them because they would've just texted us. So it could only be other friends or the police. I looked over at Jesse, and she was looking back at me with the same face of confused that I wore. "Who's that?" We both said in unison. I got up to see who this unexpected visiter at the door is, Jesse following. I unlocked and opened the door, to find a man, about my age, before us. He had tanner skin, dark brown hair, and brown eyes. He must be someone from an appointment that wasn't informed (or wasn't paying attention) to the change.

"Sir, all appointments are currently being taken care of by--"

"I'm not here for an appointment." The man said, cutting me off. If he's not here for an appointment, then why is he here? Do we know this man? But he continued, saying--

"My name's Jeremy. It's fine if you don't remember me, but I've heard about you're kids. Now I'm sorry about that, but if you'll hear me out, then I guarantee that I can help you."

I looked over at Jesse and she thought for a moment before grabbing my arm and nodding. I looked back at Jeremy and stepped aside, allowing him inside. What does he mean by "you don't remember me"?
