The Number - Tragedy Pt. 12
Lukas' POV
Jesse asked for Jeremy's number just before he left. Just in case we had any questions that Jeremy could answer for us. He agreed, on the one condition that, again, we wouldn't tell the police. We obviously agreed. Jeremy seems like a good man, I had my doubts about him, but I trust him now. His story adds up, so unless we have a evidence that he's lying, it's the best we got.
The next day we got a call from the police, saying that the blood sample was tested and matched. It was in fact, James'. And since that is the case, that means that either some random psycho saw my kids walking down the street and decided to kidnap them. Or Cain was specifically waiting for James and Analiese that day. We decided to go to the police station with the new information that we now have. Petra, Jess, and Radar all decided to have dinner with us last night, and we filled them in on what Jeremy told us. Jesse immediately texted everyone after we found out about James' blood, and they told us they'd meet us at the station. We didn't try to argue, there was no point. Besides, it's gonna be nice having them there.
Petra, Jess, and Radar arrived just a few minutes before us. We walked right in and over the captain, he seemed to notice us instantly. "Mr and Mrs Porter, Mr and Mrs Taber, and Radar Ramon, Hello to you all. How can I help you?" The captain greeted us. "Hello to you too. Can we all talk to you privately? Away from your officers?" I asked, wanting to get straight to the point. Captain Danvers looked at me with suspicion and hesitated, but gave me a single nod. He led us to his office and closed the door behind him. "So...what did you want to discuss?" Captain Danvers said, sitting in his brown leather chair at his desk.
"We have a person of interest in mind" Jesse said.
Danvers looked even more suspicious. "Oh? Who's this...?"
"Cain Thawne. He was the leader of the band of criminals that we fought a decade ago."
"Alright, but you've fought and defeated SO many criminals like him, if not, worse than him. So why him and not anyone else?" Danvers questioned. I knew we were not going to get by him without being questioned. "With all do respect, Captain Danvers. We're not permitted to tell you. " Jesse answered, trying to sound respectful yet firm at the same time.
Danvers lightly chuckled, "Mr and Mrs Porter, we are doing everything we can to find your children, but we can't do anything more if you are not willing to cooperate. I demand you to tell me how you came to this conclusion."
Me and Jesse both looked at each other, to see if we could tell what the other wanted to do. Lie or tell the truth? Jesse began, saying "Captain Danvers--" I placed my hand on her shoulder, interrupting her. "Captain Danvers, as leaders of this city, I'd hope that you have enough faith in us to realize that we would not be keeping secrets unless it's absolutely necessary. Especially since this is our kids we're talking about." I finished. Danvers hesitated, swallow his words. "I don't believe you have the authority to demand us of anything." Petra reminded him, with the right amount of intimidation. Danvers cleared his throat before saying "Of course. My apologies..."
Danvers led us out of his office and over to a young woman. "Officer Raymond, we need the criminal file of Cain Thawne immediately." Danvers commanded. Officer Raymond looked at us, obviously recognizing us, before looking back at Danvers, nodding, and leaving to another room to do as he commanded. When she came back, she handed us the file and went back to her work. It was much smaller than I imagined.

"Somehow that's a shorter 'wanted for' list than I imagined." Jesse said as she looked over my shoulder at the file. Yeah, she's defiantly right. I'll need to have them add 'kidnapping' and 'abuse' onto that list. It also pains me to realize that the 'attempted murder' on that list were referring to Jesse, my wife. I know that if he can nearly kill Jesse, then there's no telling what he could do to two helpless, young, weak, children. Heaven forbid that they're...
"--Hey, don't complain sis. The less, the better." Jess corrected her. True, though, unfortunately, we all know that it's longer than it appears. "Unfortunately, we don't know where he is or where he has been." Radar thought out loud.
"The only thing we know about where he's been, is that he had a house with his wife and son. Ten years ago, that is--" I whispered so that only the group could here me. "--I think we should call Jeremy. He's the only one we know that has even the slightest chance of telling us where he is or could be."
Everyone agreed, so we thanked Danvers for his help and we all headed outside the building. We all headed back to The New Order's Temple and talked. We all shared our thought, came up with theories and ideas, anything really. They all either didn't feel right or didn't add up. There was one question that Radar came up with that really stuck with us, one that we didn't know how to answer. Why did Cain wait five years, even after he had been released from prison, to steal our kids from us? That's the one thing that we didn't understand. Maybe it's not Cain. But it being Cain sounds so right...I don't know. None of us did. But our thoughts we interrupted with a ringtone coming from my phone. Everyone looked at me in curiosity. Huh...I don't know this number. Oh, wait, it must be Jeremy. But if it's not, then I'll just hang up. Everyone went silent as I picked up and asked "Hello?" No one answered. Weird. I asked again, "Hello?" But this time someone answered, someone I knew, no less.
"D-Daddy...? Daddy, please help me..."- a young, scared boy said. My breath was taken away immediately as I realized who I was talking to. "James? James!--" Everyone's gasped as they too realized who it was. "James, where ar--" I was cut off. "Daddy, help me and Analiese...I don't know how much longer we'll last down here, how much Analiese will last down here. I wanna go home! He won't stop! He won't let us go!" James cried. "Who, James? Who?!" But he wouldn't answer me. Instead, I heard another voice. Analiese's voice. "Daddy! Help James! He keeps chaining his neck to the wall! Please!" Analiese pleaded, almost unable through her cries of fear. "We're gonna find you, I promise! Tell me where you are. Analiese, tell me where y-" but I was once again interpreted.
"Here that, Mr Porter? They won't that much longer." A man's voice said. The call ended...
