Chapter Twenty-One

A/N – Hey guys and welcome to Chapter Twenty-One. Picture of Sawyer ^^^^

----- Hannah's P.O.V -----

It feels so strange to be back in my hometown, I mean I knew I would be coming back but I honestly thought that it would be back for a day for the funeral and then go back to California but I am glad that we've stayed for a little longer.

With Reece coming out here, it's a good thing that I get to show him around a little and I know that I'll end up seeing all the places he grew up because I live there now but I get to drag him around my lovely place of home.

I grew up here so it's safe to say that I know this place like the back of my hand, I love it so much and even though it reminds me of my parents – which is a good thing because I want to remember the good memories I had with them – I still want to have a good time whilst I am here.

The park is in walking distance of the hotel, it would have been faster to get a taxi or something but I opted for walking and Alana doesn't really protest.

Alana is currently in between Reece and me, holding both of our hands and she likes this thing where Reece and I pick her up and swing her in the middle of us which causes her to giggle like crazy.

"Do you want to go for the swings Lana?" I ask her as we approach the park which has a kids' playground within it. I think that it is actually pretty impressive, there's so much for the kids to do and I feel like that makes them want to come out a bit more as they will have something to do.

She nods and makes a break for it when she notices the swings "I'll go with her" Reece tells me, kissing my cheek and running after her.

I can't help but smile at the two of them, I like how Alana interacts with him because she did get close to Tyler quite quickly and then with Reece being around as well I don't want her to get confused with anything.

I know that Reece doesn't mind it when Alana calls him 'Uncle Reece', due to the multiple times that he has already told me, but I don't want her to become too attached to him in case things go wrong between Reece and me, which I don't want to happen obviously but you can't dismiss anything too quickly.

I go to sit down on a nearby bench, and pull out my phone but every time I look up Alana waves at me as Reece pushes her forward on the swing so I wave back.

"Hannah Masterson?" I hear someone ask from behind me, causing me to turn around and I see one of my college friends Lucy who I knew since Year Seven anyway but we got close in college.

She smiles at me and comes to sit down next to me on the bench, so I pull her into a hug once she has sat down "How are you? What're things like over here?" I quiz with a smile on my face.

She shrugs in response "I've been good thanks, it's different without you though. You were the mediator between all of us, and now you're not here" she explains.

We had a pretty tight friendship group in college, and quite a few of us were pretty opinionated so there used to be debates and arguments pretty much every day. I used to try and calm the situations down, and figure out whatever was going on to sort it.

I laugh at her words "But why are you back here? You looked like you were enjoying the sun out there in California, judging by your posts" she tells me, nudging me slightly.

I smile at her "It was my parents' funeral yesterday" I state, making her face drop as she pulls me into a hug.

"Oh Hannah, I'm so sorry. I didn't know it was happening" she apologises but I shrug to dismiss her comment.

"It's all good, I mean it got a lot of things out of the way and I know that they're rested kinda now so that's a good thing" I explain which makes her smile as she comfortingly rubs my shoulder "I'm flying back tomorrow, and I cannot wait to get back to the warmth of that place" I smile as I talk to her.

Before she has a chance to answer me, Alana comes running over and I pick her up to sit on my lap "Oh my, Alana, you're so grown up" Lucy tells Alana making her giggle.

Reece then comes over and sits down on the other side of me, putting his arm around my shoulder, "Hi. I'm Reece" he introduces himself as he holds his hand out to Lucy.

She shakes it and smiles at him "I'm Lucy. I went to school with Hannah" she tells him in response "I like your tattoos; my boyfriend has a similar one on his hand" she says as she points to the writing on Reece's left hand.

He chuckles "Yeah, one of my mates did it for me" he explains, looking down at his tattoo but he then looks to me "I'm gonna have a cigarette" he states, kissing my cheek and then walking off slightly so that he isn't smoking near us.

Lucy has a knowing smile on her face "You didn't tell me you had a boyfriend" she glares jokingly at me as she talks.

I shake my head "Because I don't have a boyfriend Luce" I state and she looks confused.

"Why is he out here then? I mean, shouldn't he have school or something?" she questions me, sounding confused also.

I smile slightly "He knew that the funeral was happening and he knew it'd be rough so he called Drew, and came out here to support me" I explain.

"And you're telling me that you're not in a relationship with this guy?" she asks me again.

I shake my head in protest, "Well...I don't really know what our relationship is" I hesitantly admit to her "Like, we act like a couple y'know? We hold hands and he kisses my cheek and I kiss his...but nothing is official" I explain and she nods in acknowledgement as I talk "I mean, I have only known him for like almost two months now I think and that could class as moving fast but gosh I have no clue" I run a hand through my hair as I confide in one of my best friends.

She shrugs a little, but then smiles, "Han, you know that I believe that any guy would be lucky to be in a relationship and that most definitely applies to Reece over there" she starts to talk and give me a whole massive lecture which I used to get all the time from her "He came all the way out here for you because he knew you'd be having a rough time of things, which is incredibly sweet and we both know that no guy round here would do that" she jokes with me slightly "What's obvious to me is that he does care about you and he may seem like a bad kid, which is the vibe you get from how he dresses and his tattoos and such, but perhaps he's not so bad" she finishes her lecture.

I laugh and then sigh, but Alana tugs my coat before I can respond "What's up Lana?" I ask as I turn my attention to her.

She smiles up at me "Can I go over to Uncle Reece?" she keeps smiling as she talks to me so I nods in response.

She gets up off of my lap and runs over to where Reece is standing, and I find myself smiling slightly as I watch him interacting with Alana.

Just the way he instantly moves his cigarette away from her and puts it out, as well as talking to her even if what she's saying is probably completely random.

I turn back to Lucy, "He is a good guy and believe me I have been told so much worse and so much against him in the almost two months that I have been at that school" I fiddle with my fingers slightly whilst I speak to her "I think there's good in him even though he appears as a complete dick and douche" I tell her.

She smiles and then stands up, so I stand up next to her, "I definitely approve of him Han" she states "But I have to go, the boyfriend wants to meet after he finishes his shift" she tells me before pulling me into a hug and leaving the park.

After having not seen Lucy since I moved, or contact with her, it was nice to catch up and to actually be able to confide in someone that isn't my family or the friends I have only just made – there's something about being able to talk to someone that you have known for years, and just get their advice because you trust them wholeheartedly.

Being able to talk to her has given me a lot to think about and things to consider.
