"For Her Own Good." (chapter 2)

James Barnes watched how the light in the eyes of the only person he remembered slowly faded away. Yet they weren't giving the time to completely burn out. From every side of the building, people in black clothes came running towards the small battlefield, all without making a single noise.

In the middle of the stream of soldiers was a man, also only wearing black fabric, looking like a part of the shadows covering his face. Though Barnes didn't remember this person, the woman surely did. Her eyes filled themselves with fear, her back straightened and her fingers clenched her thumps.

She stared at him, as if hoping for him to do something in a certain way that would make the mysterious man leave. Yet all Barnes could do was stare at his loyal friend, who was laying unconsciousness on the floor, his chest rising up and down, touching the metal floor over and over again.

'Сержант (Sergeant),' the man said, which caused to woman to flinch. Both of the Winter Soldiers knew what was going to happen, and it wouldn't be something good. The Russian word flew through the hallway and into the ears of all witnesses, and as Barnes understood she must be a leader of a team, he saw that exact team backing the man up.

The team was mostly males, making it even more entertaining that their sergeant was a female. And as the soldiers grew closer to their leader, the leader took more steps to her own captain. She tried coming closer to Barnes, dodging the eyes of her teammates. She knew that she wasn't allowed to kill without an order, though it seemed like she wanted to.

'оставайся там (stay there),' the man that seemed to be so important said in Russian, as he told the pour woman to stay where she was, watching how Barnes struggled to remain on his toes. He felt blood drip down his throat but he didn't care, as he knew it wouldn't kill him.

And he was right, when suddenly doctors appeared from every door that was made in this building. They walked casually, as this was their actual day job, but the woman wasn't going to give up that easily. She directly understood her fate and started yelling, begging for them to not come any closer.

"No! Please! I don't want to!' she screamed, before one of her own teammates knocked her down. He did as he was ordered, pinning the soldier to the floor, his full bodyweight making it unable for her to move an inch. She had yelled in English as she had talked to her captain in that same language and a piece of the woman underneath HYDRA's mask had shone through.

She realized what would be done to her, kicked and screamed to the soldier pinning her down and even managed to get him off her, yet her victory didn't last long, as the doctors had now come closer to the soldier that found her captain, which she wasn't allowed to find in the first place.

The sergeant panicked, fear taking control of her actions. Barnes could feel the memories blurring his vision, as he once stood on that exact place. Not afraid of any of his enemies but afraid of his own makers, as they had hurt him the most of all, breaking him for good, making him the person they wanted him to be. They slowly killed Bucky Barnes, and had put The Winter Soldier in his body.

The geniuses that had probably "made" her were holding her hands and feet, trying everything to drag her with them, and he know she would be going to the programming room, the room they would wipe her clean again, so that she was ready for combat once more.

He wanted to help her, badly, but the assassin knew she would only be tortured more if he did. So he stood there, fighting for his life, watching the woman being dragged with to her biggest nightmare. He searched for words to say that would make her calm down, as that was everything he wished for when he stood in her shoes, that one sparkle of hope to hold on to, that light he never had.

He remembered that the more he fought back, the more he would be tortured, and the more pain he had to endure. Therefore the only possibly helpful words he could come up with echoed through the hallway, into the ears of the woman that had tried to kill him, hoping it would help her hold on to her sanity.

'Calm down, don't fight them,' he said, knowing his voice sounded like it was an order. But it wasn't, he just hoped she would listen, which she did, as her eyes stared at him, her suddenly emotionless face tried to find his, and she calmed down, before the doctors could devour her alive.

'I won't, captain,' she said before she got dragged away from her leader and her team, not trying to break free from their grasps anymore. And all of a sudden, with those words, the team left, the person that seemed to be the "boss" of this all turned around and Barnes was left in the dark corridors of his own personal hell.

As quick as the people had come, they also left, and when they were nothing more than shadows, Barnes screamed, his feet unable to hold his body anymore. And out of nowhere his call for help was answered, as the metal arm he had gotten so used to answer Barnes his commands again.

It seemed that the little device that had infiltrated the metal arms had worn off, as it was just a temporary device Tony Stark made when he got bored. Barnes swung his arm to the right and grabbed a hold of the knife that had slit through his flesh and almost collided with his artery.

As his arms were now free to do whatever they wanted, he grabbed the "robe" across his throat and broke it with great ease, before he gasped for air loudly. The oxygen filling his lungs felt like fire and yet cold and peaceful water at the same time. But he didn't had time to be thankful, as he had to save his best friend.

He ran towards Rogers, kneeled down but felt his knees screaming at him to stay on his feet. He didn't care about his own medical condition, his bleeding arm and his scarred throat, all he could care about was his best friend.

The captain he cared about so deeply was not moving anymore. His eyes were closed and his pulse was weak, but it was there. Barnes took him in his arms, noticing how his veins were swollen. He blinked away the sadness in his eyes, not wanting to show the shadows that he did have someone he loved.

He held his "brother" against his chest, hoping his breathing could stabilise the breathing of his friend. He caught himself not caring about the soldiers, who might come back; all he cared about was getting out here, quickly. So as he searched the vent he jumped down when he got here, trying to figure out how to get up again. As he bent down his knees and hoped for the best, he jumped.

-

She was grabbed by the doctors, which tried to take her to the most awful room she had ever known. The room screams were not more than a usual noise and where you would be going after a fight or mission. HYDRA would wipe you clean and most of the soldiers would be deactivated until they were needed again.

Yet for some reason HYDRA did not deactivate the female sergeant as often than the others, as she so usually tried to do her work the best she could, not escaping the barriers they had set her in. And the fact she was one of the very best soldiers HYDRA ever made, she was frequently used. But today, she had fought back; she had shown a piece of her old personality again.

The doctors did not even had to be so rude with her, as she followed her captain's orders, keeping calm and preparing to not fight her makers. The neared the control room, the only time she snapped. The only time HYDRA couldn't control her was during the torture they said was "for her own good".

She hoped so badly for her captain to return, to save her from the agony she was going to be in. Though she knew he wasn't likely to come back. So she stood there, embracing her faith. She didn't fight, she didn't even insulted the doctors that held how down. She just wanted to remember him; she wanted nothing more than to remember him.

When the time had come to prove her loyalty to her captain, and the doctors pushed her in the chair, she didn't flinch, tried to do nothing that might suggest she was going to rebellious. She wanted her leader to be proud, so when the torture began, she didn't snap.

The metal pieces she hated so much were clenching her arms, making sure she was unable to flee. Panic ran through her eyes, yet she held on the words she said to her captain, not wanting to snap this time, as she didn't want to lie to her captain.

She opened her mouth for the guard, defeated. As the person made sure she wouldn't break her teeth, she cooperated. Few glares were hanging between the doctors before one said the most frightening thing she had ever heard, the sentence she hated the most of all: 'Протрите его и начните снова. (Wipe her, and start over).'

She felt how badly her body wanted to do something against this all, how much adrenaline was going threw her veins. But she didn't let it control her, not again. She would not disobey her captain, and as she clenched onto that thought so tightly, the machine covered her face and the wiping had began.

She screamed, yelled in pain as her memories were once again being deleted, making it easier for HYDRA to start over. And while the screams filled her ears, the sight of her leader filled her eyes; the person she had thought she would never meet had come to HYDRA.

She screamed, louder, angrier, as the pain kept running through her veins. She closed her eyes, hoping to remember what happened today, before the fire that HYDRA had started in her brain, burned it all away like paper. Her eyes closed, opened again, closed once more, and stayed like that until the pain stopped.

'Cолдат (Soldier).'
