Chapter 01 || Conflicts

P a r k   S a r a   P O V .

"Guess who couldn't wake up on time again?" The same irritating voice says as he walks beside me, throwing his heavy arm around my shoulder which not to mention almost makes me run into the wall. I shoot him a glare and he just snickers, wavering his hands in the air, a usual gesture that says he surrendered.

"I was doing my assignment." Which is true, I did stay up till three in the morning to complete my project assignment which was due today, instead of the original submission date which is still three days away, all because our professor has a date that day. Amazing!

"We had an assignment?"

I glance to my side, stopping at the voice that depicts how much of a shock I gave my best friend with my reason to be late. He stares at me with his doe eyes virtually begging me to change my words or at least for the love of this world, tell him that the assignment thing is not from the class that we share together.

"Poor Jungkookie," I shake my head, patting his shoulder, "I feel so bad for you."

"Shit!" He curses, "The egg is going to eat me alive! He already hates me enough and now I forgot about the assignment! I'm so gonna fail!"

"Who told you to go around drinking in parties?" I laugh at him and he rolls his eyes, brushing his hair back with his right hand and muttering prayers for Mr Kim to forget about any assignments due today. "By the way, who else was there?"

"Jimin wasn't." He tells me and goes back to praying, while I give him a brief glance, regretting how much he knows me. If I ever have to leave this world, I would surely not do it without him, considering the horrendous amount of knowledge he has about me. I will definitely have to kill him too.

"I'm not asking about him," I say as we enter the classroom. Jungkook glances around the class, his eyes stop at the seat at the second last row near the window, where he usually sits if he hasn't done his assignment or just not in the mood to study. He looks at me, smiling nervously as he points there and strolls off without waiting for a response while I shake my head, going to my normal seat, in the second row from ahead.

Mr. Kim arrives, making all the buzzing and chattering halt at once as the students descend back to their respective seats. He places his books on the desk and takes a proper look around the classes, smiling at his few favourite faces, one being me.

"Good morning students," He says.

"Good morning sir," We great him back. Well a few of us do, the favourite ones, and that is enough to make him happy. Despite being a professor in one of Korea's top Medical Universities for almost a decade, he still looks young and full of energy, which is one of the reasons why I show equal enthusiasm in his lectures. You need to reciprocate the effort someone puts for you.

"I'm hoping you all had a great weekend," He says, "and also spared some time for my poor assignment."

I let out a low chuckle, glancing back at Jungkook who staring at Mr Kim with a tormented look. I sigh and sit straight as Mr Kim starts asking about it from the right end of the class, just behind where Jungkook is sitting.

"Mr Kim," A panting voice interrupts him after the sliding of the door, drawing attention from all of the people.

"Mr. Park," Our professor exclaims with fake enthusiasm at the boy and I decide to focus on my book instead of the guy who steps in. "Late again, of course. What's your excuse today?"

I look up anyway to find him smiling nervously at the older man, his eyes reducing to crescents and nose scrunching up slightly as he scratches the nape of his neck before speaking, "I was... uh doing my assignment last night. So I had to stay up past midnight."

"You were doing the assignment?" Mr Kim's voice shows the astonishment I, and I'm sure the rest of the students too, have.

"Of course sir. I've completed it."

"Well, that is... amazing. Would you mind showing it to the class first?"

"Uh yes," The boy nods, heading towards his seat, which I now notice is next to mine and it has been empty ever since I came. I sigh, not glancing at him again and keep my eyes on my book.

"Here," He says, pulling out a pen drive from his pocket and hands to Mr Kim who raises his brows, just like me. What is this guy even planning?

"This," The man looks at the pen drive, "is your assignment?"

"I didn't have the time to write it sir. I was kinda busy too..."

"Park Jimin," Mr Kim sighs deeply, massaging his temples, "Why did I even believe you?"

"Sara," He calls, making me flinch as I respond quickly and stand up, earning a glance from the boy. "Would you mind helping him out with the assignment a little, since you two get along well?"

Get along well? When?

Jimin looks at me and then at Mr Kim, "Yes, sir. That would be great." He says and I glare at him.

"Is that okay with you, Sara?"

"Uh yes sir." I nod with a sigh.

__

"Sara," Jimin calls, still sitting on his seat while I gather my stuff. "Come on, princess, how long are you gonna stay mad at me? I've apologized at least a hundred times."

"And I've said I'm done." I say, taking my bag as I stand up and look at him, "I'm free around 5:30 today, if you wanna discuss about the assignment."

"Where?" He asks almost in a desperate tone as he jumps over his desk, following behind me.

"I don't know, call me maybe?"

"My place?" He asks, making me stop as he holds my wrist, then stakes a big step ahead to stand in front of me, smiling pleadingly, "please?"

"No," Another voice says before I did.

"Stay out of it, dude." Jimin hisses, pushing Jungkook's arm away as he stepped between us.

"She said she's not interested. How hard is it for you to understand that?" Jungkook says.

"Jungkook," I sigh, pulling his arm gently, "leave it. Let's go."

"Sara–" Jimin tries again, making me sigh deeply as I turn to look at him one last time.

"Jimin, just for once, I wanna feel like I actually took a bad decision leaving you. But y'know your cocky behaviour makes me think I did the right thing."

"I'm sorry" He stares at me, stepping forward and cups my face. However I step back, shaking my head with a brief smile.

"I don't know if you mean it or not. But I'm sure you can work on it." I say.

"For you," He nods, "I will... I promise, I will."

I smile at him, shaking my head, "Bye" He smiles widely, biting his lip as I know too, this is the longest we've talked in the last two months which is after we decided that we should end our meaningless relationship.

"Bye...! See you in the evening!" He rubs his hair, smiling too wide, leaning on the doorframe as I walk out with Jungkook who rolls his eyes, scoffing at him.

Apart from being too self absorbed at times, Jimin has had an image of a fairly nice guy in my eyes. With a sweet smile, beautiful eyes, lovely voice, perfect body and an attractive personality, what still bugs me at times is his big head that is full of himself.

Jungkook doesn't really like him and believes I should stay away from him. It has been like this since the beginning, I don't know went wrong, but suddenly one day the two best friends were torn apart and what was left was just some bad words that they exchange frequently on crossing paths.

"Why did you agree to help him?" Jungkook asks suddenly breaking the silence.

"Mr Kim asked me to help him. How was I supposed to say no?"

He says nothing and keeps his eyes ahead, staring with an indifferent gaze at what seems like a void in space, "And why were you blushing?"

"I wasn't blushing, Jungkook. I was smiling. People smile."

"Not like that" He urges and turns around in a swift motion, stopping right of me as we reach the end if corridor. His eyes hold desperation, checking on mine then glances at the back. There's Jimin walking past us with a sly smile that he fancies for me as what I notice, and stops by the next classroom.

"5:30," He emphasizes, staring at Jungkook while we know he's speaking to me, "Your place. I'll be there, princess."

"Shut up!" Jungkook growls, glaring at Jimin who just smiles in response, again his cockiness surfacing up with the tug of his plump lips.

"Do you wanna join us too?" He asks in a laughing tone, making me sigh.

"Jimin, listen, stop this. Keep up with your words for at least ten minutes?" I sigh.

"Your place?" He asks softly this time, ignoring Jungkook's presence as he leans against the wall, smiling at me.

"No," I say, "We're done being at my place. Meet me in the library."

"Alright, if that's what makes it easier for you to work with me." He breathes deeply, pushing himself to stand straight with his hands shoved inside his pockets. He chews on that imaginary chewing gum that I still fail to understand why, but it's hot. His sharp jawline moving in that fashion when he chews on nothing is itself dangerously attractive.

He gasps, stepping back as he lets himself fall against the wall again, placing his right hand on his chest where his heart is apparantly located, "Ouch," He hisses, "Stop looking at me like that, Sara. My heart isn't that strong to handle that stare of yours."

"Park Jimin, I swear to god I'll rip you in half–"

"Jungkook, let's go."

It takes me a second to avert my eyes from him as I shake my head at his overdramatic performance and grab Jungkook's arm by the sleeve of his jacket, pulling him with me as I walk past Jimin.

"Bye, my love!" Jimin's voice echoes from behind, making a few students to turn around and look at him and then at me.
