Revenge or Forgiveness?
Atlantis, Royal Throne Room
Time - Nearly Midnight
The most wanted mischievous Prince was finally captured by the royal guards of Atlantis. Their efforts paid off as well as the scale that was given by the Queen.
They secure the prince with chains created to weaken powers and magical abilities. There were many chains on him which doesn't give him a chance to break free with any of his powers. In the end, he gave up and the guards brought him to the King and Queen of Atlantis.
However, the timing was way off. Other than people of Atlantis, their King, and Queen who wanted Zayka for a very long time, there is someone else who wanted him even more.
Damian, who is the most recent victim that Zayka has tortured the most such as placing a curse on him into becoming a creature of the sea, wounded him and murdered his whale companion... and maybe the cause of Iruka's death. Maybe.
The moment Damian laid eyes on Zayka, he started to lose his mind. He went blank as he was giving in to the rage and anger in his heart.
"Hey, Damian" the Prince called his victim out. "We meet again huh."
When Damian heard the voice of the person he wanted to kill so badly, his body started evolving.
The sclera of his eyes turned blood red, bright yellow lens as his pupils changed from round to sharp.
The scales on his body grew a darker shade and his fins grew sharper and longer.
His gums stretched as a new set of razor-sharp teeth grew out from it.
And finally, a sharp stinger grew in between his tail fin.
Damian has the appearance of a true siren. Horrifying and deadly. At this point, the son of Batman has lost his sanity and is no longer the Damian everyone in that room knew. He is now a deadly siren filled with rage.
"Oh... What's happe--
Before the Prince could finish his sentence, the newly formed Damian charged towards him and grab his neck, and held him against the ground. He used his thumb to poke his Adam's apple. The Prince started choking as he kept trying to budge Damian's talons from his throat.
Everyone in the room was stunned as to what took place. The Queen swam towards Damian and commanded him to stop but instead she gets whacked by his tail and slammed against the throne which was knocked down and broke. Sharp tiny pieces of wood from the throne stabbed her left ankle as she starts to bleed and groan in pain.
"Robin, ENOUGH!" The king charged towards the siren with his trident. "STOP THIS!!!"
The royal guards saw their king and queen were having trouble containing the siren and reacts immediately by aiming their weapons to Damian to tranquilize him.
Unfortunately, Damian saw what's coming. He held Zayka down tightly and started singing his siren song. It was too late for the guards or any creature to attack him or even protect themselves because the siren song has paralyzed them, preventing them from moving or speaking.
Soon, everyone was on their knees and back and cheek... the guards, the king, and Zayka. As he was letting out his song, the ears of everyone in the room excluding Zayka started bleeding. The song wasn't loud in the open, but it had a high pitch sound that was ringing loudly in the Atlantian ears to which they started groaning in pain. Some kept trying to move their arms to block their ears but failed.
Damian stopped his song and everyone was still paralyzed. No one had the strength to even lift a finger to stop him. He then turned back to face Zayka who was struggling so hard to break free.
"How does it feel?" The newly formed Damian speaks in a deep husky voice. "To be in my position... feeling helpless and weak with no powers to help you out."
"I did tell you that the next time I see you, you'll be very sorry... and what you said? Try me. Well, here we are. Where's that confidence of yours right now? All I sense is fear... and it is insanely delicious!"
Ahead of him, he spotted spears that belonged to the royal guards to which they carry around with them as a sign of power. Damian teleported one of the spears into his hand and point the blade towards Zayka's eyes.
"Tell me." The siren dragged the blade on Zayka cheek slowly, causing a deep cut as he started bleeding. "DO YOU DESERVE TO LIVE AFTER WHAT YOU'VE DONE?!"
His rage got worse as he took the spear on stabbed Zayka's upper tail with it, causing Zayka to scream in pain.
He then teleported another spear and stabbed through Zayka's lower tail.
The mischievous Prince started screaming for his life and he kept trying harder to break free from Damian's grip.
"Damian, please!" The Prince started begging. "Please stop!"
"Stop?!" The siren said in a sarcastic happy tone. "Oh no no no."
"I'm just getting started."
His grip around Zayka's neck got tighter as all five talons of his fingers started piercing through his neck.
"Familiar?" The siren smirks to which his rows of sharp teeth started showing.
The Prince started gagging. Shortly after, he started coughing blood to which it made the newly formed Siren happy... in a wicked way.
"Yes, cough out blood just the way I did," Damian said, gripping tighter. "COUGH OUT MORE!"
Damian flexed the talons of his other free hand and started slashing the Prince's body. One by one, slowly, leaving deep cuts everywhere.
Damian started laughing because he's finally getting the revenge he's been waiting for while Zayka was screaming in pain on the ground at the mercy of his victim.
"DAMIAN STOP!" Mera yelled from behind him as she struggles to get up because of her bruised ankle. "This isn't the way to fix things!"
"WHAT DO YOU KNOW?!" Damian yelled back. "THIS PIECE OF SHIT KILLED MY FRIENDS AND TURNED ME INTO A MONSTER!"
"Stay back or I'll make you stay back."
Although Damian has threatened the Queen, she didn't take it personally because she knew the Damian she was speaking to wasn't the real Damian.
"Don't forget, Damian." The Queen caught his attention by using her powers to create a replica of the Echo Globe and played Damian's first time meeting Zayka. "Your people started this whole thing."
"NONE of this would've happened if your people and Talia didn't kill his family."
The siren kept his eyes on the replica Echo Globe.
He saw his younger self, the Damian where people used him as a weapon... and then he saw Zayka, an innocent young Prince crying over the loss of his family. Zayka's crying echoed in Damian's mind which made his heart heavy.
He took his eyes off the Echo Globe and gaze down upon the mischievous Prince who was struggling to endure the excruciating pain he was feeling all over his body. Through Zayka's face, he started seeing the old Zayka. The innocent Zayka who cries, smiles, and a good soft-hearted Atlantian.
And because of that, Damian started coming back to his senses. He loosens the grip around Zayka's neck and completely let's go and lay on his tail.
"I see now," Damian said while hanging his head. "You did what you did to avenge your family... the pain we caused you."
"Like it or not, we're both at fault here."
Damian's started transforming back to his previous appearance. His sclera changed back to white as his pupils returned circular. His teeth grew back to the regular length. His scales went back to his natural turquoise color, his fins relaxed, and the sharp stinger between his tail disappeared.
The deadly siren has returned back to the regular Damian Wayne... and it's all because he realized that Zayka was not the only one to be blamed... and because he felt sympathy for Zayka.
"Damian?" Mera stood next to him.
"Yeah, I'm okay." He replied as he got up and swam closer to the injured Prince.
He lay on his tail to match the height of Zayka as he looked at the damage he caused on him. The deep slashes, two spears stabbed through his tail and cuts on his fins.
"Give me your hand." Damian held his hand out.
Zayka looked at him with confusion in his eyes. Not only that but terror as well. He held his hand back and refused to give it.
"I'm not going to hurt you. I promise." Damian assured. "It seems like we both had enough pain to last a lifetime."
"I want to heal you."
"Why?" The Prince asked, confused. "I separated you from your friends and family and killed your whale friend."
"Why would you help me?!"
Robin knew what Zayka said was true. After what he's done, he should just let the Prince suffer.
But no.
Damian closed his eyes as flashbacks started invading his mind. Times where he and Iruka had fun, playing in the sea, hunting, racing, hiding, and many more. He still remembered the adrenaline rush he had every time they play. He remembered being happy and feeling peaceful after so long. He began to smile at the thought of that.
"Believe or not, I actually enjoyed my time as a Siren," Damian told Zayka. "Sure the first time I came into the sea was scary and lonely... but then I met a friend and learn about my new self and I began having fun. Not only that, but I also had peace... which was something I don't get often on land."
"You gave me a whole new experience, Zayka... and for that, I like to thank you."
"You enjoyed yourself as a Siren?"
"Surprisingly, yes." Damian smiles. "But if I had a choice, I still prefer my human life."
"Come, let me heal you... let me do one good thing for you before I leave the sea. I didnt get to say goodbye to my dolphin friend because she died and I was too late to help her out. Now I'm gonna live with that regret. I don't want the same to happen to you."
The injured Prince was surprised by the words of his foe that instead of suffering, he had an amazing experience.
Instead of feeling angry, he started feeling regretful. This is the first time Zayka has experienced being treated nicely since his lover died many years ago. Growing up, he has built a cage around his heart which made him forget the wonderful feeling of someone being nice to him or any feelings other than rage and sadness.
The Prince met Damian's eyes properly for the very first time and what he saw in those emerald green eyes was genuine. His eyes then gazed down to Damian's hand which was held out for him. He decided to take Damian's word and reaches for his hand slowly.
When Damian had a gentle grip on Zayka's hand, he closes his eyes and started singing from his heart. He sang with the emotions of love, happiness, and forgiveness because, after everything he and Zayka have been through since the first day they've met, it's time to put an end to it... a peaceful one.
The beautiful melody of his song began healing the deep wounds and bruises on Zayka's body. The spear evaporated into thin waters and the hole in his tail closed up like it never happened.
Other than Zayka, the King along with the royal guards in the room started regaining consciousness as they slowly rise up. The pain in their ears has been mended as well.
The Queen's leg was bruised free.
When Damian finished singing, he opened his eyes to see Zayka's wounds completely healed. But not only that, Damian was shocked to see Zayka's appearance has changed. His face remained the same but his hair changed from dark to light ash blonde, his eyes from yellow to violet purple, his tail change to an ombre blue and purple but his tail fin was all the way purple which matched his eyes.
"Zayka?" Damian let his hand go.
"You... you healed me." He started looking around his new appearance.
"I healed your wounds but did I change your appearance?" Damian asks studying Zayka's new look.
"This was my royal Atlantian look," Zayka said. "When I changed myself into a Siren, this was how I looked like in the first few days. Over time, the curse made my appearance more... frightening and ugly."
"But now... I'm back to normal... and it feels like its permanent this time."
In the background, the king and queen were startled to discover that Damian had the ability to heal others.
"Robin, did you know from the start that you have the ability to heal others?" The King interrupted the two siren's conversation.
"Trust me, I didn't." He turned around to face the king. "I only found out just now... how? I don't know. I just trusted myself."
Damian turned around to face Zayka again.
"I healed you... but that doesn't mean I forgive you." He said. "And I don't expect you to forgive me either because I don't deserve it."
"I know that it was my fault from the start. So right now, we're even."
"Even?" Zayka wanted a clear reminder.
"Yes," Damian said. "We both took something previous from each other."
"But Zayka Depth, I would like to remind you of one thing. Stay away from Jonathan... or any of my friends and family because if you don't, I'll come back for you... and when I do, you'll never see the light of day again."
"This is my warning... If I'm strong as a siren, I'm undefeatable as a human."
"Yeah yeah save me from your boring lecture." Zayka interrupted as he lifts his hands up to make the chains around him more noticeable. "Look at me... I'm powerless now... every single Atlantian hates me and I'm the last blood of the Depth Family."
"Chances of me escaping is even further down the Mariana Trench."
"You can never be too careful, Zayka," Damian said as he rises up. "Today is the last day we'll see each other... and I never want to see you again."
"Trust me, neither do I." The Prince smirks. "But thanks... for healing me. I didn't know you would do something like that for me."
"Your welcome." Damian smiles.
Damian turns around and swam towards the king and queen and bowed as he genuinely apologized to them for causing their injuries.
Thankfully, they understood and didn't take it seriously because they knew behind that killing creature, wasn't the Damian they knew. Besides, their wounds had already been healed so no harm no foul.
Aquaman instructed all the guards present to take Zayka away to the special holding facility for creatures with magical abilities, that are located farther in the kingdom, away from the people for their safety.
The Queen felt uneasy when she thinks about leaving Zayka in the hands of the guards. Though he is powerless, she thinks anything could happen behind the scenes. So she told her king that she will escort the guards to the holding facility to which the king disagrees at first but after she explained her concern to him, he accepted.
"Guards, get the prisoner ready." Mera used her royal voice towards the guards. "I'll escort you personally."
"Understood my queen." Their leader said as he lightly bowed. "Men, prepare him!"
The guards approached Zayka and forced him to float on his tail to which it wasn't a problem since his wounds had been healed. Two buffed guards held his left and right arm tightly while the rest tightened the chain around him which weakened his powers even more.
"Well, this is where we part ways, Damian Wayne." Zayka met Damian's eyes when the guards were busy preparing for his departure. "We both suffered a lot from the cause of each other... but now like you said, we're even."
"Thank you... least now I can rot in prison peacefully till I die."
Somehow Damian saw the pain and sadness in Zayka's eyes even though he had a smile on his face. Robin felt the need to say something but he stayed silent.
"Take care, Zayka," Damian said as his chin starts quivering.
The merman didn't know why he should feel sad for the Prince but... he was. Although he did not know the Prince very much but it felt like they've known each other for a while now.
"I can say this, I'll never forget Zayka after today. He will have a place somewhere in my heart." The merman swore in his heart.
"Guards, off you go." Mera's loud voice brought me back to my senses. "I'm right behind you."
With that, the guards along with Zayka swam towards the exit and left the throne room. Damian kept his eyes on Zayka as he disappears with the guards.
"Don't worry," Mera said behind me. "We'll take care of him properly. He is royalty after all."
"Yes please." Damian turned around to face them. "Please."
"Well, I think it's time to go back, Damian," Mera said as she swam forward and place both hands on the shoulders of the merman, smiling a gentle smile upon him. "Batman and the others are waiting for you."
"I'm ready."
