Chapter 2
"'What's going on?" you asked gaping at them. "Why are you human?! Why I'm outside?"
"Please, calm down." The boy pulled off his hood. "I'm Atem, this is my brother Yugi. We're here by command of Dragon Lord Pegasus."
"I-I still don't understand. Who...?" Another dragon? What did that mean?
"You're only confusing her, boy," tall figure stood between you and Atem. She had fiery red hair that went in every direction. When she turned around you saw ruby eyes you were accustomed to seeing.
It was the dragon from the cave.
You stumbled backwards.
"Lord Pegasus invites you to his manor. He also wishes to see you, Laegil Norin Noona." He addressed you two.
"Wishes to see me? Are you joking?" she spat at him crossing his arms.
"No, we're not." Said Yugi. "The pact has been broken, so there is no need for you to continue to live in the caves. Lord Pegasus promises protection for the Vayis, I mean miss _____, and for you."
It seemed like they excluded you from conversation by now. You still were utterly confused. You didn't understand what they meant by 'pact' or who was Lord Pegasus.
"What about the Temple...?" you asked interrupting their little spat.
"Temple?" Atem blinked. "Ah, Siolunils Temple. It has been raided and destroyed two years ago. That's why we're taking you to Lord Pegasus. He offers protection and custody."
Once again you felt as if world was falling into pieces around you. You couldn't comprehend words he said. Everything in what you believed, everything you knew fell apart. You were Vayis, right? Songstress for evil dragon. Since the Temple didn't exist, what were you supposed to do? Go with those strangers? Maybe run away? But you didn't know a thing about world outside. All you knew was knowledge form the books and stories from Mr. Katham. It didn't make sense. It had absolutely no sense.
Could you just like this go on journey? To leave now collapsed cave behind? To see world you longed for? To make your dreams come true? But it was real life, not some story book you read when you were little. Things like this didn't happen. Not to those tied by Fate.
Did they?
"Can I...?" You mumbled to no one in particular.
You looked around. And what you felt was incredible.
You felt gust of wind on your skin. It blew into your face and ruffled your hair. With the wind came faint, yet sweet smell of flowers you didn't know about. You closed your eyes and breathed deeply to capture the scent. You felt sun rays touching your face. Warmth spread throughout your whole body. You heard rustle of leaves.
Right now everything lost its importance to you. You didn't care about strangers talking to you about not hurting you, or she-dragon being human. You didn't care about being the Vayis.
You took off your shoes. You felt green grass under your bare feet.
You haven't noticed tears running down your face. In your whole life you never felt so blissful. You felt things you weren't supposed to feel. Your heart beat so fast as if it would jump out of your chest.
You walked towards tall adler tree. You run fingers along its rough trunk.
"I sang of leaves, of leaves of gold, and leaves of gold there grew
Of wind I sang, a wind there came and in the branches blew."
You sang quietly to yourself, your voice croaky from crying. You remembered that song. Mr. Katham once brought you song book that a merchant from far away lands. It contained beautiful songs you've never heard before.
You danced to the melody only you could hear ignoring stares of three companions. You smiled to them when you finished and leaned on tree.
"Will you show me the world?" you asked.

In the end you agreed to come with them to Lord Pegasus. Now you thought of him as your benefactor. You thought you should thank him. Laegil, on the other hand expressed her lack of trust towards the Dragon Lord but also decided to travel with you.
"I can't leave ______ alone with you" she said back then.
"Why?" you wondered aloud now sitting on a horse.
Boys had only two horses so you had to somehow split. The beauty of snow white horse named Gurram enchanted you. You practically had stars in your eyes when you begged boys to let you ride him. Since it was Atem's horse, you rode with him.
Your first destination was Nagaram City. You and Laegil needed new clothes. After all, yours were impractical, and hers looked like a rugs. For the first time in many years you would visit a real city.
While riding past green hills you asked Laegil why she decided to go with you. Yugi said that she's free to go on her own.
"To protect you of course. That's my job till the end!" she answered frowning.
"Weren't you one who would cause a catastrophe if humans didn't offer you the Vayis' to sing?" you asked suspicious.
"What are you talking about?"
"In the Temple'' you started.'' the Teacher taught me that you were horrendous creature. He said ,that one day you descended from heavens and threatened to destroy Westenra. But people made a deal with the dragon. Humans would offer special gifted songstress, called Vayis', to tame the dragons anger."
Three companions looked at you strangely.
"W-what?"
"Those assholes!" Laegil exclaimed throwing fist into the air. "That's what they taught you?"
You nodded blinking at her outburst.
"You know, there was an agreement, ''Atem turned to look at you.'' But it wasn't about imprisoning girls to sing.''
''Then?" you hesitated. You weren't sure if you wanted to hear his explanation. Your head hurt already.
''Dragon, namely me, '' interjected Laegil ''had to protect the Vayis. You're supposed to have special kind of magic that used in bad way could bring disaster."
"And that's why you kept us imprisoned till our death?" you muttered. Red head opened her mouth to say something, but she decided against it.
Everyone became quiet.
You made a break around noon. You guessed it was noon, becouse you started feel hunger. Either way you were grateful. Your almost everything hurt, so you felt better after little stretching.
When you stood breathing hot air you felt something tugging on your hair. You ignored it, but soon tugs were stronger and more irrating.
When you turned around you saw Gurram chewing few strands of your hair.
"Ah! Bad horse! Don't eat my hair!" you shrieked and pulled your hair. Animal only neighed as if this was funniest thing in the world. He tried to tug on you once again. "No! Stop it!"
You moved for the safe distance and showed him your tongue. You heard chuckles behind you. It seemed like the tension from your last statement was gone. You smiled uncertainly and sat near your companions.
"So, '' you said when you ate your bread ''I posses some special magic? Right?"
"No."
"But-"
"I mean yes" corrected Laegil. " I mean... You have it within you, but it's faint and not awaken."
You felt as if these people loved confusing you. They were speaking riddles and half of the time you didn't understand what they meant. Your state must have been clear on you face as Yugi started giving you his explanation.
"Vayis posses' magic of Light. "he said. ''They are naturally born with them. Powers manifest when they sing or chant. Usually if person has abilities, then they have magic of Shadow. Like me, or my brother. Most of us dragons posses' Shadow magic."
You took a moment to process the information. It seemed like an logical explanation. Although you still didn't get why Light magic was so special since you couldn't even use it properly.
You blinked when realization hit you.
"'Us'? You mean you two are dragons too?"
"Yeah." Atem nodded.
"So why can't we just fly over there, to Lord Pegasus?" you asked little excited at thought of flying. You remembered huge wings the Drageon, Laegil, possesed.
"We're only half-dragons. ''he said looking away. "We can't turn into full forms."
"Oh." You didn't know what to say. It was clear that they were distressed about it, so you didn't press on the subject.
You finally took time to examine two brothers. Both of them had spiky black hair that changed color to amaranth purple at its ends and blonde bangs. And both of them had high cheekbones. Of course they had notable differences too.
Yugi, had big, bright violet eyes. He was few inches shorter than his brother and didn't have that warrior outlook. He wore dark green jacket with hood and cloak. Unlike his brother he wore no armory.
Atem carried sword, that now laid beside him on a grass. Its hilt looked like a dragon that wrapped itself around it. He wore armlet – you were sure you saw some dragon scales. Besides this elements he didn't have any more armor. He had dark cloak with hood.
His eyes were sharper than his brother. They were darker in color with crimson reflects.
After dinner you tugged on Gurram's reins.
"Listen, horse. No eating hair" you said looking into his eyes. He stared back at you.
"Give him some carrot," you heard Atem's voice behind you. "He loves them. Then maybe he won't tease you."
"Like peace treaty?"
"Something like this, " he chuckled and gave you the carrot.
Snow white horse snatched vegetable from your hands. You giggled and hoped that it would be enough for the animal to leave your hair alone.
Atem helped you on the horse and you were ready to go.
