Touya's POV

"Guys?" Nate and Rosa turned around. "It's not over yet." Above us was the giant flying ship itself: the Plasma Frigate. The panels on the bottom were spread out, and the fore was opening up to reveal a cannon.

"Back into my house now!" Drayden called. Before we went inside, I saw the cannon charge up power, hearing explosions from inside.

Shade's POV

I heard the explosions from Opelucid City.

"What was that?!" Cinni yelped.

"I know that ship," I growled. "It's the Plasma Frigate. Team Plasma is attacking. Touya's in there."

"Your human friend?" Striker asked. I nodded.

"When I get my fists into them I'll--" Grizzly was cut off.

"Those fists will only be useful to a clear mind," Syren said.

"I saw an explosion coming from Opelucid City," a boy said, running out of Shopping Mall Nine hastily. "And what the heck happened to Route 9?" He turned to face me. "Wait. You're that Absol and Zebstrika! So these are your friends?" I nodded.

"Name's Shade. These are Grizzly, Cinni, Striker, and Syren, my allies."

"I'm Calem. My family moved to Unova four years ago, and we're gonna go back to Kalos soon to visit my Aunt Grace and my cousin Serena. But for now, let's thaw out the city."

"By the way, do you have a flying Pokémon?" I asked.

"Yeah, why?"

"I must get a message to the Swords of Justice ASAP. They're just east of the city."

"Consider it done," Calem replied, tossing a Pokéball to call out a Garchomp. Calem took out a piece of paper, which I stamped with my footprint, then we tied it to Garchomp's arm. It took off at high speed, bound eastward.

"Ready, guys?" I asked. "We're going in."

Touya's POV

We came out of Drayden's house to see the entire city frozen over. Grunts were dropping in with the psychic help of three Gothitelle. Among them were familiar faces. That's when it hit me.

"What if I can't get him back?" I asked. Drayden turned to me.

"What do you mean?"

"What if I can't get Travis back to our side? What if he was brainwashed beyond reversal?"

"Touya, I understand what you're going through. But a leader, especially the leader of a strong team, cannot ever lose hope. I know he will come back to your side."

"Thanks. Now let's go." Pathor, Rio, Genesect, and Haxorus stood ready to battle. So did twenty grunts and three Gothitelle. We stood outnumbered, but we had them outmatched.

"We'll each take five. Afterwards, we'll meet at the Gym, where the commander should be." We split up to take our fifth of the attack. But there were also ten Cryogonal. Pathor was about to get hit by a Rapid Spin when a Dark Pulse hit the Cryogonal off course and into an ice spike.

"Touya!" a familiar voice called out.

"Shade! Why are you here?"

"I saw the attack and didn't wanna miss the fun," Shade said. "By the way, this is Calem. He's another Trainer who lost to the Champion."

"You know Touko?!" I asked, cutting him off.

"We can talk about that later," Calem said, his brown eyes filled with determination. "We need to defeat all of these chumps!" A Garchomp dove down, hitting a Gothitelle with Dragon Rush. It was followed by four slashes, which defeated all of the Gothitelle.

"The Swords of Justice!" another voice gasped. "A catch like that will make me a top commander in no time!" A Disc flew at Cobalion.

"Oh no you don't! Capture on!" I fired my own Disc, which knocked the other back. I looked at the others.

"Don't worry, we'll hold them off," Cobalion told me, using Flash Cannon against a Cryogonal's Aurora Beam. Shade and I ran after the Disk towards the Gym, where I saw Travis, Kai, and one of the infamous Seven Sages himself: Zinzolin. His Weavile, Kai's Scolipede, Magmus, Electus, and Rhyno were all ready to fight. Calem and Garchomp caught up to us, and we surrounded the three. Everyone knew the plan, and it was almost time.

We Mega Evolved Pathor, Rio, and Shade. Now it was time for Phase 1 of the Ranger Rescue.

"Pathor, use Psycho Cut!"

"Aura Sphere! Techno Blast! Do it!"

"Let them have it, Shade! Dark Pulse!"

"Use Dragon Pulse, Haxorus!"

"Draco Meteor, Garchomp! Let loose on them!"

"Weavile, use Ice Beam!"

"Hyper Beam! Go, Scolipede!"

"Use Overheat! Thunder! Rock Wrecker!"

All the attacks collided, creating a massive explosion. When the smoke cleared, Haxorus, Garchomp, and Genesect fainted, and the Mega Evolved Pokémon were back to normal. But all the Pokémon with Team Plasma had also fainted. That's when Phase One started.

"Come on, Touya. Let's get to Humilao City."

"Sorry, Nate." I grinned, showing a cylindrical object holding the DNA Splicers. "There's been a change of plans. Pathor, use Drain Punch!" Pathor charged at Rio and punched him. Rio was slammed into the wall.

"Forgive me, my friend," he whispered.

"What are you doing?!" Shade growled. "This wasn't part of the plan!"

"You really are clueless about the plan." The Gothitelle used Psychic to lift us into the Frigate. I managed a small wink at the others. We were then lifted onto the Plasma Frigate.

I felt bad about "betraying" my friends, but Phase Two was about to commence.

"So, the brat from two years ago wants to join the team he and his sister wanted to defeat?" Ghetsis eyed me suspiciously.

"Yes," I replied. "My skill as both a Trainer and a Ranger will prove to be a great asset." Ghetsis thought for a moment, then tossed me a new uniform.

"Very well, but don't try anything." I went to put on my new uniform, then saw Mewtwo in the dormitory. He prepared an Aura Sphere, ready to strike.

"Mewtwo, wait!" I yelled. "It's just me, Touya."

"What are you doing here?" Mewtwo asked.

"Darkrai gave me an SOS via a nightmare. I'm gonna rescue you guys."

"Thanks." He managed a smile. Lux ran up, jumping on me and knocking me down.

"Yeah, I missed you guys too." I smiled at my friends. "So, where are the others?"

"Tessa is about to arrive on Latias, and Cassie is in the cold room," Mewtwo said. "I can sense it."

"Let's get ready to fight," I replied, standing up. "We have a big one ahead." We set out the next morning.

Nate's POV

We arrived in Lacunosa Town and decided to get supplies and rest up.

"I can't believe your 'friend' betrayed you," Hugh said.

"Don't worry," I replied. "He'll call us when he starts with Phase Three." My Styler rang. "And that's him now." I flipped up the main panel, the antenna extended, and I heard Touya.

"Hello?"

"This is Nate, is Phase Three a go?"

"Phase Three is a go. Also, I ran into Mewtwo and Lux. I'll call back if we find Travis."

"Over and out." I flipped the panel back down, and the antenna retracted.

"So?" Rosa asked.

"Phase Three is commencing."

Hey guys! You have got to admit I pulled off one heck of a cliffhanger last chapter. Also, sorry about last week. I was kinda busy. But I'll go back to my normal schedule after this.
